He hardly looked older than me at all, though most immortals did look a lot younger than they actually were. I didn’t care. Because of the spear of Odin, I was immortal as well. Guess there was one benefit, small though it was. I would use my immortality to make him bleed.
The glow of his magic was different than the guards. It was distorted though, like he had stolen it from someone else. It was similar to Shayla’s glow, but not nearly as powerful.
Shayla’s magic was strong and I was a head taller than the guy, so used that . . . or tried to. I advanced on him, but he didn’t back away. His guards stepped between us, their stone knives pointed at my chest.
“Wuss,” I accused him with as much disdain as possible in that one word.
Gerik’s jaw tightened, but he turned away. “Take the girl. Leave the one with the sight here, but be sure to leave him a few scars like his little Gray love.”
No way would I allow them to take Kassia. I couldn’t let that happen. Then I remembered.
Shayla and I had spoken with Kassia’s father. He had specifically said there was power in her name. Kassia Antema. No matter who her father was, if he could help save her, that was the lesser of the two evils.
