“What is this?” She’d asked him.
“It is yours, my love. I want you to have all of me, Cora. You are my most treasured possession. Nothing else is above you.”
When she had opened the box, she’d been shocked to see several bound books. The ancient tomes were the memoirs of his Clan. The secrets of his Dragon and his Golden Flame. And he’d entrusted them to her.
That night they consummated their passion right there on the floor. Taking and giving everything, they had to each other. He made her feel as if she was the center of his universe and fuck it all if he wasn’t hers.
Gods, she loved him. So much she’d been trying to find a way to broach the subject of marriage ever since they’d gotten off his, no, their private jet to attend her best friend’s wedding.
Oh yeah, Rei was a lot more better off than he’d originally thought upon awakening. It seemed his hidden accounts held access numbers to even more accounts and Cora had soon uncovered hundreds of millions in stocks and bonds, not to mention the gems and gold.
They had tons of money. So much so that she quit her job and put herself in charge of their vast fortune. It would give them the opportunity to spend more time together which was all she really wanted nowadays.
Only now she wanted one more thing. To be with him forever as his mate and his wife.
To her surprise, Rei dropped down to one knee right there in the ballroom and grabbed both her hands.
“Cora Tesouro,” he began, devilishly handsome with his new shorter haircut and his glowing gold eyes, “Will you, my sweet mate, be my bride, my partner until eternity?”
Her heart thundered in her ears, even though she expected the question. A surge of pure joy pumped through her blood as she nodded her head, unable to speak for a moment.
She threw herself at him, wrapping her arms around his neck and holding on for dear life.
“Yes,” she nodded against his throat, her tears wetting his suit. She prayed he’d never leave her alone, never let her go.
“Never, my love,” he whispered, “I will never let you go. Es meus.”
