General Perry said, “Well, you two will get checked out and patched up and are flying back here on Air Force One. The president wants to have a talk with you. First of all, you are killing my budget on Purple Hearts. Then I want to talk to you both about Command and General Staff College and the U.S. Army War College. I want you to get your full-bird promotion as soon as possible, so I can have somebody take over command of maybe the Fifth Special Forces Group at Fort Campbell or the Third or Seventh at Fort Bragg, and of course Bo will be commanding an airborne unit on the same post you end up at.”
Bobby said, “I don’t know what to say, sir.”
General Perry said, “I do. God bless you and Bo, Bobby.”
Bobby smiled and replied, “No, sir, God bless America.
