Rebel Ink Page 10

by Laura Wright

  Lisa is staring at me.

I shrug. “I mean, who else can keep me out of trouble? And…in trouble.” I grin.

  “A lot of chicks.”

“Naw. Not anymore.” I inhale. “You done something evil to me, Blondie. The minute you said no a year ago, I was set on making you say yes.”

Her drink goes down on the tray table. “Vincent—”

  “Say yes.”

Her eyes are just pinned to mine. “If I did—”

“Fuck yeah.” Explosions. Like all over the place.

“If I did,” she repeats. “You need to know, I wouldn’t hang on you. I get that you don’t want a girlfriend.”

Okay, enough of this horseshit. I stand up. “Come with me.”

“What?” She looks around at the other passengers. “Where?” Her voice drops to a whisper. “This isn’t a private plane, Vincent.”

  “Ass up, Blondie.”

She knows I ain’t giving up and takes my hand. I lead her toward the first class bathroom. “If you’re gonna be with me,” I say for all the flying-in-the-sky people to hear. “You’re gonna have to learn to break some rules, baby.”

  “Be with you?”

I pull her inside the tiny space, shut the door and lock it. I press her back against the thing and get in her pretty little face. “I want you with me. I want you as my girlfriend.” It’s all I say. I lift my brows. Like, what do you say to that, Lis?

But she doesn’t say anything. She’s mute. And staring. Fuck, I guess I need to make this shit clearer. Always a first time for everything, eh?

  “I’ve made a lot of mistakes.” That’s a start.

Her lips twitch. “Welcome to the club.”

“Okay, yeah, but I’ve learned some shit too.”

“Really?” she asks, lifting her chin. “What’s that?” Is that a smile coming?

“Biggest lesson there is, baby.” I go in, brush my nose across her nose. “And you taught it to me.”

Her eyebrows drift together. “Tell me.”

  “It’s corny as fuck, I can’t—”

“Vincent!” She grabs the collar of my shirt and jerks me back to face her. “Don’t you dare.”

I laugh. “All right, fine.” I sober up, my eyes going for the soul now. Cuz I think I got the heart. “Love don’t equal pain.”

  Her lips part. “Love?”

“Okay, okay, let’s not put the cart before the horse. You know what I’m saying.”

Her smile is wide now. All teeth. “Maybe.”

I touch her face. So soft. She’s staying. She’s got to. “Don’t question it, or go all chick in your head about it.”

Her arms go around my neck and she bites her lip. She’s down with the rule-breaking. Mile High Club, here we come.

“Then what should I do?” she challenges with a smile.

“Just kiss me, Lis,” I say as I go in for the kill. “Just fucking kiss me.”
