Covert Craving Page 13

by Jennifer James

  “I’m not pregnant.”

Her red eyed friend gave her a sad smile. “Chloe, listen to me for once and don’t argue. You will be. Don’t make me remind you of what you guys were doing less than half an hour ago. And you have got to get away from civilization for awhile. Dyson has friends in high places and he’ll help you.”

Nothing about this seemed like a plausible, good way to live. How long were they supposed to do hide out? Forever?

“They’ll find us eventually, if they really want to.” Greiff gave voice to her deepest fear.

Lucky nodded. “Yeah, but we’re going to keep you guys undercover as long as we can. We have to get all the info possible so we can take them down.”

The driver of the SUV honked the horn and Lucky held up two fingers.

“Go now, while you can. You’ll be okay.”

The ocean air sent his blond hair into a spiky, ruffled mess.

Greiff sighed and met her eye. “You ready?”

She felt like he was asking her more than that. A deeper question about forever, and chances, and if she knew of a better option.

She didn’t, so she nodded. As long as they stayed together, they’d be okay.

The ten foot walk to the car took forever and yet no time at all. A knot clenched her stomach long after the silent driver dropped them off at an airfield and they’d taken off in a tiny puddle jumper airplane. The vast evergreen forests stretched beneath them. The pilot, like the driver of the SUV, never spoke.

When they landed, he handed Greiff an envelope and a set of keys.

The knot didn’t go away until two days later, when they drove up a half over grown track that reached a small log cabin in the woods.

  Epilogue

Somewhere in the Rocky Mountains of British Columbia, Canada, three months later.

Firelight flickered over the rustic, log-cabin interior. Chloe poked the embers and a shower of sparks cascaded to the stones in front of the fireplace. She’d thought she’d miss the noise and lights of New York City, but the wilderness proved to be a great place to live when the water didn’t change your physiology at the genetic level. Snow blanketed the ground and trees outside. Even this far out in the woods, they had the Internet through a special satellite, and with it, a way to engage in e-commerce. A small but tidy living to help pay for the things they couldn’t scavenge or hunt for. Plus, she still really liked to buy soap. Living off the land enthusiasm only went so far despite the ridiculously long ride into the nearest town.

Thank goodness Greiff didn’t mind hunting to supplement their food.

They had their fights, and adjusting to living together had taken some time, but the fury she’d expected him to direct at her for their circumstances never materialized. He accepted her, and everything about his demeanor pointed to a very happy and contented man.

Cold air rushed into the room, and he clomped across the floor with an armload of firewood. He tossed his gloves aside and coaxed her into standing. Love and desire filled his blue eyes.

“Did you take care of the cheesecake?” She placed her hands on his chest and held him at arm’s length. He’d promised to order it while she took a nap.

He bit her lip and slid his hands under her shirt.

“Jake.” He caressed the hard peaks of her nipples, slipped his thumbs beneath the satin of her bra, and connected with bare flesh. She sucked in a breath and arched her back to give him more access. He moaned and popped the front closure on her bra with one hand. “Cheesecake?”

“Ordered, just like every other week.” Hot kisses rained down on her jaw line and then he sucked on the soft flesh of her neck.

“Did you take care of things for Dyson? He put himself on the line for us, helping us.”

He closed his mouth over her breast through her shirt. “Yes. Stop worrying.”

“Have you heard from your sister lately? Any news on Lucky?” She gripped his hair and exerted enough force to divert him from his current focus. Even if it did feel amazing.

“Yes and no. Sister’s fine. Lucky is still off the grid completely. Dyson is working on it, said he’d know more by the end of the week.”

Nothing she could do about Lucky but worry and hope he was okay. She’d adopted an attitude of enjoying every moment like it was the last. Despite the appearance of safety they enjoyed, she knew it could all come to an end any time. She closed her grip over the bulge in his pants. “Mmm…well then, let’s take this to the bedroom, sir.”

He smoothed his hand over the tiny bump in her belly. “You’re not feeling too sick?”

“Nope. No morning sickness. I think I finally kicked it. Thank goodness that didn’t last long.” She guided his hand back to her breast. “Come on now, you got me all hot and bothered. Don’t leave me hanging.”

He brought her left hand to his mouth and kissed it. “I love you.”

“Love you too.” She propelled him into the bedroom and laughed at the expression on his face when he saw the silk scarves hung from the bed posts. Affection and warmth pooled in her chest. “Hey, remember what you said all those months ago in the sewer?”

The down jacket he’d worn outside fell to the floor and he toed off his boots. “Hell yes.”

She threw her heavy wool sweater aside along with her pants. The cold didn’t bother her like it used to, and she shucked her socks as well. For a moment, she used her ability to fade from sight while his back was turned and raced around to the other side of the bed. Practicing in the cold of British Columbia had sharpened her skills so that she could remain hidden while engaged in fast movements across the room. Even from Greiff. He didn’t like it, but he acknowledged that growing her abilities was a good thing. She secretly thought he worried too much.

“I can still smell you, you know.” A grin flashed across his face, the candles in the room created plays of shadow and light in the hollows of his muscles. He crawled onto the bed and waited on his knees. “But I’ll play along.”

She tackled him onto his back and pinned his wrists. Their mouths met, lips and tongues hot on each other. Wetness slicked her pussy and she ground herself over his hard length. She broke away from him and tied first one wrist, then the other.

Exploring his chest and abdomen, she licked the line where his thigh and groin met. He lifted his hips, a silent plea for more. With one hand, she gripped the base of his shaft and circled the head of his cock with her tongue. She took him in her mouth and pumped him with her grip.

She backed off and sat back on her shins when he neared orgasm.

“Come up here. I want to lick that pretty pink pussy.” Desire darkened his blue irises, his mouth slack and lips open.

She parted her pussy lips and teased her clit while he watched. “And if I say no?”

“You won’t.” He flicked his tongue over his lower lip and shifted on the bed. “Come here.”

She climbed over his body, slow, sinuous, so her nipples grazed his chest and face. Once she settled with a knee on either side of his head, she lowered down until the hot touch of his tongue lapped at her hood.

The head board dug into her palms. He sucked at her clit, delved his tongue inside, then back out again over her smooth lips. Orgasm built and pooled in her belly until she bucked against him as she came.

Her legs trembled and she flopped to the mattress. She rolled over and kissed him, the flavor of her release on his tongue. Each erotic stroke helped fuel her hunger for the fulfillment of his cock stretching her, joining them together.

She crouched next to his hip and teased him with her mouth once more, palming his testicles as she licked her way up and down his thick shaft. He bucked his hips and bent his legs in frustration, and she swung her leg over him and slid down until their bodies joined completely with her back to him.

From this angle she was able to fondle his balls as she rode him, and she dragged it out. Each up and down stroke lasted as long as she could make it.

“Oh, God, baby, please. That feels incredible.
You feel incredible.”

A peek over her shoulder revealed his eyes half-lidded in pleasure and lines creasing his forehead. She paused her movements and pinched her nipples. He couldn’t see exactly what she did, but he knew.

  “Do you like this?”

“Oh yeah.” Another slow slide up until the head of his cock popped out. She moved back down so his shaft parted her pussy and bumped over her clit. He groaned and squirmed. “Baby, please.”

“No. Not yet.” Another teasing glide took his hard length across her nub.

He twisted his left wrist, then his right and freed them from the scarves. “I need to be inside your tight little pussy.”

In a few swift moves, he sat up behind her and caught her around the waist. He repositioned himself on his knees behind her, used the palm of his right hand to guide her down onto her hands. Chloe held her breath. The nudge of his cock at her entrance was a delicious taunt. “I think I’ve had enough teasing for today, doll.”

With one fast thrust, he entered her wet channel. The slap of their flesh meeting filled her ears, and she met him with a backward motion of her own. A simple change of angle and he rubbed over her G-spot. The friction wrung another orgasm from her.

“Jake…yes…” Her arms went weak, and he plunged into her a few more times until he grunted and emptied his cum inside her.

He gripped her waist with both hands as he recovered enough to withdraw, and then moved aside so she could relax and lay down.

A quick tug and a few fidgets later they snuggled together under the blankets. She kissed his chest and he tightened his arm around her waist. The bump in her belly hiding the tiny heart fluttering with life called to her. She rested her hand on it, and he moved back enough to angle his own palm to cover hers, protecting their baby.

Someday they might have to move from their haven in the wilderness, but for now, peace surrounded them.
