Start Your Engines Page 22

by Jim Cangany

Gabrielle looked into Brad’s hazel eyes and then down to the sketch she was still holding. It was a cute little bungalow with flower boxes below the windows and a wisp of smoke coming out of the chimney. There was a sign post in the front yard with a simple inscription.

  Gabrielle & Brad

“We do, too,” they said together.

Brad took Gabrielle in his arms and brought his lips to hers. With a feeling of contentment in her soul she had never thought possible, she reveled in the kiss.

“Onward and Upward?” She gave him a wink.

“At two hundred miles per hour.” He smiled and placed his forehead against hers. “Or whatever speed you desire.”

She returned the kiss, and the promise it held, and it was more glorious than ever.

  Acknowledgments

There are so many people to thank for helping bring Start Your Engines to life. First, a big thank-you to my agent, Dawn Dowdle, for her support and help in finding this story a home. I also want to thank the fabulous folks at Crimson Romance, including Tara Gelsomino who said yes, and Jess Verdi, who pushed me to make the story better than I thought possible. Thanks also to Julie Sturgeon and Beth Hicks for their hard work in bringing this book to life. Last, but not least by a mile, I want to thank my wife, Nancy, and my sons, Seamus and Aidan, for their unwavering support as I continue my storytelling ride.
