  “Yes, and no.”

He searched her face, almost as if he was still trying to figure out how he knew her. “You look familiar.”

Kennedi scratched her head and shrugged. “I must have that kind of face.”

His gaze dropped to her mouth and she prayed her lip gloss hadn’t failed her. “You’re probably right. I don’t know you. Because if I had, I’d remember.”

Kennedi sank against her car, and smiled. There were few things she remembered about middle school at Wellspring Middle. The pizza was good and Parker Wells Jr. was fine as hell. But now she was faced with a grown up Parker and she’d say time was good to him.

Her phone rang from inside her car, and she jumped. “Oh, it’s probably my aunt. Hold on.” She rushed to the door, and pulled out her purse. Slipping a business card from her case, she handed it to him. “Again, I’m so sorry. If there is any damage, please call me. I have to go.”

Parker peered down at her card. “Okay. I’ll give you call.” He handed her one of his business cards. “If you need a recommendation on a mechanic, let me know. I have a friend.”

Kennedi tucked her hair behind her ear. “Thanks.”

When she was tucked safely in her car, she gripped her steering wheel and watched him hop in his truck and pull off. Sighing, she leaned back in her seat. Staring down at his card, she ran her finger over the embossed letting of his name. Parker Wells Jr. Kennedi smiled at the masculine design, and thought maybe her bad luck was running out.
