Unexpected Guest: A Riverton Crossing Novel - Book Three Page 6

  “Fuuuck,” he growled.

Her eyes sparkled with desire as she glanced at his hands clamped tightly to the doorjamb. With him at her mercy, she rubbed the backs of his thighs up to his ass then slid her hands down until her fingers touched the backs of his balls before she lightly grazed them with her nails. Evan’s legs slightly bent before he repositioned his feet farther apart.

“Darlin’, we had a deal, but just remember, I haven’t had my turn yet. I can torture you just as much.”

The look in his eyes was pleasure and passion, so she wrapped a hand around the base of his cock and found her rhythm with her hand and mouth. Within seconds, warm shots hit the back of her throat.

“Oh shit,” he said with every thrust. When she’d sucked him dry, he released his arms, picked her up and kissed her all the way to their bed.

“I like the taste of me on you, but now I want to taste you,” he said as he laid her down. He kissed his way down her belly until he got to the apex of her legs. He placed her legs over his shoulders and opened her folds with his thumbs. When he saw how wet she was, he looked at her with a cocky grin. “I now understand why pink is Steven Tyler’s favorite color.”

Ginger’s mouth formed an O as his tongue lapped her clit. He slid his hands under her ass to tilt her toward him so he could fuck her with his tongue. Her fists were full of the sheet when she started to quiver, so he bit her clit with just enough pressure to send her over the edge.

  “Evan!”

Her whole body shook as her juices coated his tongue. He stayed right there leisurely licking and sucking until she calmed. When he looked up, her eyelids were heavy, and a demure smile curved her lips. He kissed the inside of each thigh before he crawled up her body.

“God, you’re beautiful,” he whispered. She wrapped her arms around his neck as she opened her eyes. “Now taste you on me,” he said as he leaned down to kiss her.

  “Mmm,” she moaned.

Evan moved beside her and placed his hand on her belly. “Was that the twist you had in mind?”

“Yes, I do believe that took care of it quite nicely.” She giggled.

The following morning, they all met in the lobby of the hotel to walk to a little French café for crepes. The restaurant was small, but they snagged a table for four.

After breakfast, they walked around until their bridal appointment. The different shops were fun to walk in—candy shops, clothing stores, and houseware stores. As they approached a store with maternity clothes in the window, Ginger released Evan’s hand and stopped.

“Are you all right, darlin’?” Evan asked.

“Yes, I was just wondering when I’ll start wearing maternity clothes.”

“When it’s time, I’ll bring you back here, or we can go to Charleston. How does that sound?”

“I’d like that,” she said with a brilliant smile.

Evan put his arm around her shoulders and kissed the top of her head as they caught up with Mitchell and Kayla.

“What were y’all doing?” Kayla asked.

“I stopped to look at some maternity clothes.” She grinned.

“You’re going to look so cute,” Kayla squealed.

The girls linked arms and continued walking. “Do you have any feelings one way or another about the sex?”

  Ginger shrugged. “Not really.”

“What are you two talking so seriously about?” Mitchell asked.

“How wonderful our future husbands are,” Kayla quickly responded.

“It’s time to head for your appointment,” Evan said as he kissed Ginger’s forehead. They walked to the other end of the street. When they got to the door of the store, Evan said, “We’ll be right over there.” He pointed to the table on the sidewalk in front of a bourbon bar. “Text me before you walk out this door, and one of us will be here. Are you going to be able to bring the dress out with you?”

“Yes, we’re going to have to buy off the rack since we’re getting married in two weeks,” Ginger said.

“Have fun.” He gently kissed her lips.

“I’m thinking causal for us,” Kayla said to Mitchell.

Mitchell kissed her. “Get whatever you want.”

The girls walked inside, then turned around and waved at the guys before they walked across the street. When the girls turned back around, two ladies were staring at them.

“Hi, I’m Mary. Which one of you is Makayla?” the beige suited lady asked as she held out her hand.

“That would be me,” Kayla responded as she shook Mary’s hand.

“Come this way. We have some dresses picked out based on our conversation on the phone. We have cocktail style dresses as well as tea-length, but we did pick one formal just in case. Didn’t you say it was an outdoor ceremony?” Mary asked.

“Yes, ma’am,” Kayla replied. “It’s a double wedding, but we want each of our personalities to shine through.”

“Makayla, these are your dresses and dressing room here on the right.”

“I’m Wilma and will help you, Ginger. These are yours on the left,” the lady in the sky-blue suit said.

Ginger and Kayla hugged. “See you in a few,” Kayla said.

Ginger had just pulled a dress off the hanger when her phone vibrated. She picked it up to see UNKNOWN on the screen of her phone. Thinking it was the Riverton Crossing grapevine she didn’t want to answer it, but just like a car wreck, she was curious to see what it said. When she swiped her screen, the wedding announcement was the first thing she saw:

We are pleased to announce the wedding of one of our featured bloggers, Ginger Monroe to Evan Riverton. The wedding is scheduled for the 17th. Please join us in congratulating Ginger.

Below was a text that said:

Firecracker, is this true? Is he the one you sent to see me after you left? You need to stop the bullshit and get your ass back here. You belong to me, bitch.

“Kayla!” Ginger shrieked. She was shaking when Kayla opened the door.

“What’s wrong? You don’t even have on your first dress,” Kayla said.

Ginger shoved her phone at Kayla. “Look. They weren’t supposed to release this until next week!” she sobbed as she sunk to the floor.

“What the fuck? Has he lost his ever-loving mind? Stupid ass!” Kayla stomped out of the dressing room with Ginger’s phone in hand as she hit Evan’s speed dial.

  Gin-”

“You need to get over here right now! Mitchell can’t come, but you need to—now.”

“What the hell, Kayla? What’s wrong?”

“Ginger received a text that you need to see. It rocked her, Evan.”

“On my way.” He was out of his chair before he disconnected the call. “Stay here. I’ll be back in a minute,” he yelled over his shoulder to Mitchell.

Kayla was waiting at the front door. “Where is she?”

“This way, but you can’t look at the dresses in her room,” Kayla said.

“I don’t give a damn about the dresses. What happened?”

Kayla handed him the phone. “Get her number changed. This shit has got to stop.”

Evan read the text then busted into Ginger’s dressing room. Ginger was on the floor with her head resting on the bench against the wall. When she turned her head, her eyes were red, and tears were streaking down her face.

“I’m gonna fucking kill him,” Evan mumbled as he picked her up. Her arms wrapped around his neck and squeezed. He rubbed her back and whispered directly into her ear, “I’ve got you. He’s not getting near you.” He pulled her head back so he could look into her eyes.

“Who sent the text, darlin’?” His thumbs swiped the tears from her eyes.

“David was the only one to call me Firecracker.”

“Gin, he’s wrong. You were never his. You’re mine, all mine. Shh…”

“Why did he have to ruin my day?”

“Don’t let him. I’ll handle it. Can you tell me what he meant by the one w
ho went to see him?”

Ginger shook her head. “I have no clue. I didn’t send anyone nor did I ever know anyone went to see him. Evan, what if he tries to ruin the wedding?” Tears welled in her eyes again.

“The wedding is at the ranch, and there will be extra security at the reception. You won’t be out of my sight there.” He pulled her close and rubbed her back. “Darlin’, I thought we agreed to send it next week.”

“I told her next week. Look at my text. I don’t know how it went out early.”

Ginger’s phone vibrated again, and Evan looked at the screen. He turned the phone to show her the text.

So sorry. The intern got excited and hit send instead of schedule. What do you want me to do?

There was a knock on the dressing room door. Evan looked at the door then Ginger. “They aren’t gonna let me stay while you try on dresses. What do you want to do?”

Ginger took in a deep breath and let it out slowly. “I guess it’s too late to do anything about the announcement, but I need to do this because we’re running out of time.”

  “You sure?”

“Yes.” She took a steadying deep breath. “Thank you for coming. I’ll be done shortly.”

“I’m taking your phone, and I’m responding to this asshole once and for all. Kayla will call me if anything happens. You’re safe.” He kissed her forehead, then her nose, and then her lips. “I love you, darlin’.” Evan stood, and Ginger placed her feet on the floor.

  “I love you, too.”

When Evan turned to leave, Kayla was waiting for him outside the dressing room. “Thank you for calling me. She’s okay now, but I’m taking her phone. Call me if anything happens and when y’all are ready to leave.”

“I’m glad she has you,” Kayla said with a smile as she kissed Evan’s cheek.

Evan’s eyes scanned Kayla in a dress that was soft and gently followed her curves. “Nice dress. Mitchell will love it.”

  “Don’t you dare tell him.”

As Evan walked back across the street, he saw Mitchell’s apprehensive look before he was halfway there. When he sat back down, Mitchell asked, “What the hell was that about?”

Evan waved Ginger’s phone back and forth. “David Fuckhouse thought he had the right to speak to my fiancée. I’m getting ready to let him know otherwise.”

  “Oh shit.”

Evan leaned back in his chair and pulled up the text. He thought for a moment before he started to type:

David, this is Evan Riverton. It has been brought to my attention that you’re harassing my fiancée. You were stupid enough to cheat on her and hurt her, and I was smart enough to pick up the pieces and make her whole. She doesn’t have time for the likes of you. Hence, you’re hearing from me. She didn’t send anyone to see you, but I hope they whipped your ass. This phone will be turned off permanently in 30 minutes, so if there’s anything you need to say, here’s your chance.

Evan laid the phone down. “I’m getting her a new number. He told her that she belongs to him and then called her a bitch,” he said with disgust in his voice.

  “Damn.”

“Exactly, but he also asked if I was the one she sent to see him after she left. She didn’t know what he was talking about.”

  “Her admirer?” Mitchell asked.

Evan shrugged. “I don’t know, but I hope whoever it was beat Fuckhouse’s face in.” He turned up the beer that had appeared while he sent the text. “I gave him thirty minutes to reply before I turn the phone off. I need to call Ginger’s dad.”

Evan called her dad to make sure they had his number and let him know what had transpired. Her dad was concerned, but Evan reassured him that Ginger was safe. Just as he finished the call, a text pinged on Ginger’s phone.

“I can’t believe this guy is so stupid,” Evan said.

Unknown: She deserved what she got. Good luck thawing her frigid ass.

Evan showed the phone to Mitchell as he shook his head. “Are you responding to that?” Mitchell asked.

“No, he isn’t worth the time it’d take to type the response. Apparently, he didn’t know what to do with a woman, so why should I let him know how terrific the woman is he let go? She’s the furthest thing from frigid a woman can be.”

As Evan finished his beer, Mitchell’s phone vibrated with a text. He glanced at the phone. “They’re ready. You get the girls, I’ll get the tab.”

Evan was waiting on the girls as they exited with long opaque dress bags that enclosed everything with a zipper. “You found something?” he asked as he greeted Ginger with a kiss. He reached out to take her bag. The smile on her face was so much better than the tears from earlier.

“I did,” she said with pride.

“We should have enough time to take the dresses back to the hotel before our class,” Kayla said.

“Are you sure you feel up to it?” Evan asked Ginger.

“Now more than ever. You are my life—you and the baby.” She placed her hand on her tummy and took a deep breath. “My past is my past, and he can kiss my lily-white ass,” she said with a smile.

“I’ve handled him, darlin’. We’re getting you a new number. I’ve called your dad, gave him my number and explained why. He’s pissed, but thanked me for taking care of you.”

Mitchell jogged up to them. “Let me take that,” he said to Kayla.

“No peeking,” Kayla warned as she gave her bag to Mitchell.

As they walked toward the hotel Kayla sent Cat a text:

  We have dresses!

The girls changed into shorts, tank tops, and tennis shoes. When Ginger was heading out the door, Evan stood to follow. “Don’t you have some work to do, like checking with Officer Applegate?”

Evan furrowed his brows. “Don’t you want me to come with you?”

“I want this to be a surprise for you.”

“I don’t understand. How can this dance class be a surprise for me? Don’t you need a partner?”

  “Not for this class.”

“Gin, I’d really feel more comfortable if I were with you.”

  “Mitchell is going. Please.”

Evan took a deep breath and let it out slowly as he rubbed his middle finger and thumb across his forehead. “How long does it last?”

“It’s a demonstration class so thirty minutes. We should be back by four.”

He pulled her in close. “I know I’m going to regret this, but okay. I’ll wait with you until Mitchell and Kayla come down.”

The elevator doors opened in the lobby, and Mitchell and Kayla were already standing there. Kayla’s eyes bounced between Ginger and Evan. “I thought he wasn’t coming,” Kayla whispered.

“He’s not, but he’s not happy about it either,” Ginger softly said.

“I don’t know why I can’t go, but you better not let her out of your sight,” Evan told Mitchell.

“Bro, this is one surprise you’ll be glad you let her give you. My eyes will be glued on them the whole time. Check in with work, and we’ll be back before you know it.”

“You know what kind of class it is?”

A sneaky grin tilted Mitchell’s lips, and he wiggled his eyebrows. “Yeah.”

The disappointed look on Evan’s face gutted Ginger, so she placed both of her hands on his face. “Please trust that I want to give you something special and that’s all this is. Can you trust me for two weeks?”

  “Our wedding night?”

“Yes, this is for our honeymoon. You’ve given me so much I just want to do something special for you.”

He wrapped her in his arms. “Yes, darlin’. I don’t like it, but as long as I know you’re safe, I can live with it.” He gently kissed her before they walked out the door.

Mitchell draped an arm around each girl and headed toward Ellis Square with their arms around him. “Ginger, Evan is going to flip his shit when he sees this,” Mitchell said.

She laughed. “It’ll go perfectly with the costume he bought me.” />
“Don’t think we needed to know that, Ginger.” Kayla laughed.

“Mak, do you have an Arabian costume?” Mitchell wiggled his brows up and down.

Kayla slapped his chest. “You know I don’t.”

“I think you may need to get one the next time we go to the mountains. I see pillows on the floor and finger foods.” They laughed as they walked toward a group of women gathered on the grass. “I’ll sit right over there, so make sure you’re on the outside and in front of me. Now shake some booty, ladies.” He slapped the girls’ asses before he walked backward toward the bench on the edge of the grass.

Kayla and Ginger grabbed scarves with bells sewn to them, wrapped them around their waists, and stood on the side just like he told them. Before long they were tapping their middle fingers and thumbs together to the beat of the music while Mitchell watched from the bench as they found the rhythm with his arms across the back of the bench, his legs stretched in front of him, and feet crossed at the ankles. When the girls started moving their hips, Mitchell became more attentive. He sat straighter on the bench, his eyes were glued to Kayla’s ass.

“Son-of-a-bitch,” he mumbled as he rearranged himself, grateful he'd worn boxer briefs instead of just boxers. He planted his feet firmly on the ground and leaned on his elbows that rested just above his knees. How the hell was he walking back to the hotel without everyone seeing his erection? He took several deep breaths as the instructor announced where her studio was and gave out cards. As the girls put the scarves back in the box, Mitchell walked toward the crowd and was waiting when the girls turned around. As before, he draped his arms over their shoulders and they placed their arms around his back. “Show him a good time, ladies,” someone called from behind them. They all laughed.
