  Interview with Jane

What gave you the inspiration for the story?

I had my hero, Kai, who’s a journalist, floating around in my head for a while. I knew that he had issues with his own identity and I started to wonder about how that must feel, to not know who you really are, and how it would feel if you were offered a chance to find out… Then my heroine came into my head, the pragmatic Holly, who is absolutely certain about who she is and where she fits in to the grand scheme of things – and I began to wonder, what happens when a man who doesn’t know who he is meets a woman who believes her life is outside her control…

Who do you base your characters on?

I’d like to think that my characters all come completely from inside my head, but I suspect that my heroines are all nicer, cleverer versions of me. With better hair. The heroes I usually base physically on someone, but when it comes to their personalities…I truly have no idea. It’s like the inside of my head is a casting call, with all these people trooping through shouting ‘pick me, pick me!’

What three things would you take if you were to be stranded on a desert island?

A lifetime’s supply of tea and biscuits, a sarong to cover up the effects of all those biscuits (I’m hoping that the island is completely uninhabited, apart from me, obviously. I wouldn’t want to scare anyone with the sight of my wobbly bits, particularly after a few months on the HobNobs), and a lifesize poster of Johnny Depp, to nail to a convenient coconut tree. I’d be happy for years.

  Vampire State of Mind

Jessica Grant knows vampires only too well. She runs the York Council tracker programme making sure that Otherworlders are all where they should be, keeps the filing in order and drinks far too much coffee.

To Jess, vampires are annoying and arrogant and far too sexy for their own good, particularly her ex-colleague, Sil, who’s now in charge of Otherworld York. When a demon turns up and threatens not just Jess but the whole world order, she and Sil are forced to work together.

But then Jess turns out to be the key to saving the world, which puts a very different slant on their relationship.

The stakes are high. They are also very, very pointy and Jess isn’t afraid to use them – even on the vampire she’s rather afraid she’s falling in love with …

This is the first of a trilogy in Jane’s paranormal series.

  Persuade Me

  Juliet Archer

When it comes to love, Anna Elliot is stuck in the past. No one can compare to Rick Wentworth, the man she gave up ten years ago at the insistence of her disapproving family. What if she’s missed her only chance for real happiness?

Since Anna broke his heart, Rick has moved on – or so he thinks. Out in Australia, he’s worked hard to build a successful career – and a solid wall around his feelings.

The words ‘forgive and forget’ aren’t in Rick’s vocabulary. The word ‘regret’ is definitely in Anna’s. So, when they meet again on his book tour of England, it’s an opportunity for closure.

But memories intrude – the pure sensuality of what they once shared, the pain of parting … And she has to deal with another man from her past, while his celebrity status makes him the focus of unwanted attention.

With Anna’s image-obsessed family still ready to interfere and Rick poised to return to Australia, can she persuade him to risk his heart again?

This contemporary re-telling of Jane Austen’s last completed novel is the second book in Juliet Archer’s Darcy & Friends series, offering fresh insights into the hearts and minds of Austen’s irresistible heroes.
