“Oh, I’m gonna be inside, Darlin’. Let me help you remove those panties.” She giggles again but damn I’m serious.
She grabs my wrist and turns her head, makin’ my lips press against hers. Her free hand comes up and gently pushes against my chest. “Trevor. I mean let’s go inside the house,” she says against my mouth and giggles again.
Quickly, I get out of the car, joggin’ over to her side. I whip the door open, lean down, and lift her into my arms as she lets out a squeal. I close the door with my foot and take her inside. After lockin’ the front door, I don’t stop, and carry her upstairs to my room.
Our room.
Gently I lay her down on the bed. Neither of us undress. I pull down my pants far enough, yes I’m commando again, and pull up her dress, rippin’ off her panties, and push into her hard. I don’t give her time to adjust as I start movin’, my mouth presses against hers and our clasped hands rise above her head and press against the mattress. “God! Trevor!” Echoes in the room, her name fallin’ from my mouth shortly after. It’s fast but so needed.
We lay in bed in each other’s arm, once we’d finally got up and removed the rest of our clothes. My eyes grow heavy, a long busy day done, excitement, and havin’ fun with friends, topped off by amazin’ sex with my girl. “Trevor,” her voice whispers close to my ear. I pop one eye open and look down at her sweet face. “I have an idea what I want to do with some of my money. Our money,” she adds quickly and smiles. She doesn’t give me time to question and looks at me with determination. “I want to buy the piece of land on the other side of your property. You know, almost across from Nash’s?” I nod slowly, not knowin’ where she’s goin’ with this. “I want to build a big house for battered women. A place they can come until they get on their feet. Help them through their nightmares. Some might have children so I thought we could have some animals there, a playground, things to make them feel at home for a while.” This is startin’ to intrigue me. I move, turnin’ onto my side so she does the same.
I push some of her long hair behind her shoulder, my brows lowerin’. “You’ve really thought this out, haven’t you?” She nods eagerly, her smile growin’.
“Yes. I have. I’ve already talked to Kathy and she even thinks there’s a couple of her doctor friends who might be willing to give some of their time to help out there. She’s actually excited about it. I can help clean and cook and….”
I press my mouth against hers hard, my hand movin’ around her waist as her hand sets on my shoulder. It’s not a kiss of passion as much as it is of hope, love, my swellin’ pride for her. She’s been through so much and gotten so strong and now she wants to help others live through horrible things that have happened to them. God, I fuckin’ love her so much. I move until I’m half on top of her, our tongues slidin’ over each other’s as I deepen the kiss more. Finally I stop, raisin’ up on my elbows and lookin’ down into her beautiful eyes. “You’ve really thought hard about this, huh?” She smiles, takin’ my breath away.
“I have. I want to do this. Help others.” My hearts melts a little more for my girl. Makes my heart that much more full. She’s kind, carin’, selfless, and beautiful but doesn’t even realize it. That makes her even more beautiful in my eyes.
“I’ll build you the biggest damn house, playground, barn, – anythin’ you need, sweetheart. I love you.” I lean down and capture her lips as her arms wrap around my neck.
We make love again, not just because I’m always achin’ for her but because of our love. Afterwards, we both drift off, our bodies completely exhausted.
Beep
Beep
Beep
What the hell. I pull Prie closer and lean my head against hers, driftin’ off again.
Ring
Ring
Ring
What in the hell is goin’ on? I lean up and look at her nightstand. Nothing. I start to lay back down when my phone goes off again on my nightstand.
Beep
Beep
Aw the hell with it. I pick it up, hit the button and place it against my ear, lookin’ down at my sleepin’ girl. “What?” I may have been too angry when I look at the alarm clock and see its four forty-five in the mornin’. I think I’ve been asleep for an hour, if I’m lucky.
“Hey, man. Sorry if I woke ya’ll but Sadie wanted me to call you and Prie and tell you the twins should be here within the hour. I told her she was crazy and to let ya’ll sleep but she said Prie would kill her if we didn’t call.” Memphis chuckles in the phone and I can’t help my grin spreadin’.
“Thanks, man. I’ll tell her.” We say our goodbyes and I place my phone back on the nightstand, curlin’ into my girl again. I’m so tired I can hardly move. I lay there for a few minutes but knowin’ I’ll fall back to sleep, I lean over and kiss her cheek, rubbin’ the back of my hand against the skin on her face. “Prie,” I whisper. Maybe if she doesn’t wake up, I can just go back to sleep. Her eyes open lazily, the corner of her mouth liftin’ into a smile. “Sorry to wake you, baby, but Memphis made me.” Hell, I ain’t gonna tell her it was my idea. She bolts up into a sittin’ position. I had to sit up and grab her as she swayed sleepily, almost fallin’ over. Damn, I wish she could just keep sleepin’.
She raises her hands, rubbin’ her eyes, and then looks at me. “The babies?”
I nod. “Within the hour.”
She grabs the covers and throws them off her, jumpin’ outta bed. She starts runnin’ around the room, grabbin’ one of my t-shirts from the drawer, throwin’ it over her head as she runs into our closet. She comes back out with jeans on, not fastened, and hoppin’ as she puts socks on. “Hurry up! I don’t wanna miss it!” I chuckle low, gettin’ out of bed. I sit on the edge and rub my hands over my face. I’m jolted when a pair of jeans hits me square in the face. I pull them down and look at her, standin’ on her tiptoes as she pulls up the zipper on hers. “Oh! Sorry. Get dressed!” I grin and chuckle again. She’s so freakin’ cute. Finally, I stand, put my jeans on and grab a t-shirt from my drawer then sit back down and put my boots on. “Hurry!”
I stand and walk over to her in the bathroom. Her arms are raised, puttin’ her long hair up in a bun. I kiss the side of her neck. Her smile in the mirror is for me. “Look, Darlin’. We’ll get there. Slow down. I’m movin’ a bit slow but we’ll get there.” She smiles, her body relaxin’. I smack her bottom, playfully, and she jumps. “I’m ready. Hurry up,” I tease.
We get to the hospital in record time. Not much traffic at five in the mornin’. I feel half asleep as we ride the elevator upstairs. As soon as we get to the baby area, we stop at a desk.
“Sadie Johnson, please.”
The nurse types onto a keyboard and looks up at Prie. “Take a right. There’s a waiting room there. I’ll let them know you’re here.”
“Thank you.” Prie smiles and grabs my arm, leadin’ me down the hall. We get into the waitin’ room and I sit down while Prie starts pacin’ the small area. My eyes get heavy quick. I have no idea how she has all this energy. I’m fallin’ asleep just watchin’ her. Right as my eyes close someone comes walkin’ into the room and I snap them open.
“They’re here!” Shiloh smiles and Prie squeals. They hug, holdin’ each other and swayin’ as I stand up and walk over quietly. Prie turns around and grabs me. I smile and put my arms around her. “It’ll be just a few minutes then they’ll let us go in to see them.” Shiloh winks and leaves the room. I lean down and kiss the top of Prie’s head.
“So, never asked ya. Do you want kids some day?” She looks up at me, her smile huge, and her face radiant. Guess that answered my question.
“Do you?” she whispers.
I lean down and kiss those full lips and smile against them. “If it’s with you, absolutely.” She smiles against my smile and we just stand there holdin’ each other. Life doesn’t
get better than this.
Shiloh comes back a few minutes later and tells us to follow her. I take Prie’s hand in mine and we walk a short distance down the hall. Memphis is standin’ on the other side of Sadie’s bed, holdin’ onto who I’d guess is Jared since the blanket coverin’ the baby is blue, talkin’ to Colby and bouncin’ his little bundle. Sadie must be holdin’ Evie with seein’ the pink blanket. Prie looks up at me and smiles so I nod my head towards them and she takes off, excited to see the babies. I walk over to Memphis and Colby and look down at their little boy. It’s a strange feelin’ that washes over me as I look at Jared. Fair complexion, light eyebrows, such a small nose and lips that look like his mamas.
My eyes snap over to Prie, sittin’ on the side of the bed and holdin’ Evie. Like she can feel me, she turns her head, lookin’ at me in concern. I blink rapidly as I feel the wetness in my eyes. I’m imaginin’ a little girl. Her hair blonde, the color of her mamas, tied in pigtails. Her eyes green, just like the color of grass on a beautiful summer day, her skin perfect, her voice as sweet as honey. I refocus in on Prie as she mouths to me, askin’ if I’m okay. Guess I am, mostly. Never thought much about havin’ kids until Prie came along. Now, I think I’d like to have a bunch, show them the beauty of the land, make sure they know how to deal with the mean parts of the world, and be thankful for the good parts. I give Prie a smile, givin’ her a nod too. She smiles back and turns around, knowin’ I’m just fine. I want to do right by her, give her anythin’ she wants, not financial, she don’t need that. I want to love her every day as if it’s our last. Make sweet love to her as often as possible. I want to give her anythin’ that money can’t buy. I want her to be happy every day.
“Here, Trev. Wanna hold him?”
I look at Memphis and then down at Jared. I’m hesitant, never havin’ held a baby before. He doesn’t wait for me to respond. I open my arms on reflex as Memphis places him there. I look down at Jared’s sweet face. His eyes closed, sleepin’ away, and I smile. Yup, I could have a few of these.
Caprice
My heart is overjoyed as I hold Evie. She’s so cute, so tiny. I feel Trevor behind me, like something’s wrong, so I turn around and mouth to him, asking if he’s okay. He just gives me a smile and a nod so I turn back around. I get the feeling he’s thinking hard about something. I’m just not sure what. Sadie looks exhausted. Poor thing. I’m actually having a hard time keeping my eyes open as well. I think we might have had a couple hours of sleep.
“So, the doctor finally said that she’d do a C-section and after all that, I was relieved. Guess, Jared wasn’t ready to come out but Evie was but she wasn’t able to get him out of the way.” We all laugh. “So, I’m a bit sore and tired but right now, I feel exhilarated since they’re here and we can finally hold them.”
Tina’s sitting on the couch under the window. She laughs. “Bestie, I’m sure at this point you’re just glad to have them out of you.”
Sadie looks over at her and smiles. “You got that right. I was getting pretty uncomfortable.” She looks at Evie and tears up. “God, it was so worth it.”
I look over at Shiloh. She’s sitting down on the recliner, her feet propped up. She looks so tired. Her hand rests on the side of her stomach as she looks at Evie in my arms. I stand and walk over to her, bending down and putting Evie into her arms. She looks down and then up at me and smiles. I turn and am surprised at what I see. Trevor is standing with Memphis and Colby talking and he’s holding Jared. I don’t move, just stand there and watch him. He seems comfortable, almost at ease. He senses me looking at him and looks into my eyes. His smile is beautiful. I’d never tire just looking at him. Those baby blues melt me, his smile warms me. He looks at Memphis and says something. Then Colby reaches his arms out and Trevor smiles, placing Jared there. Trevor turns and walks over to me, putting his strong arms around me. I close my eyes briefly as he kisses my forehead, then look up at him. He raises a brow and I nod. Leaving me, he walks over to Sadie and bends down.
“Gonna take Prie home. Sure proud of you.” He leans in and kisses the top of her head. She grabs his hand and squeezes it. “You all need anythin’, you just gives us a call or text.” She nods, smiling. He walks over to Shiloh and kisses the top of her head too. Then he looks down at Evie and brushes his finger over her cheek. My heart is filled so full right now. The babies, my friends, family, and my man.
He walks over to me, puts his arm around my shoulder, and we tell everyone goodbye. I can hardly keep my eyes open on the way home. I lay my head back on the seat and let my body relax.
“Mmmm,” I yawn as I’m lifted into his arms.
“Shhhh, sweetheart. Just takin’ you up to bed.” I’m jolted as he opens the door and then up the stairs.
I yawn again. “I don’t think I can do that right now, baby. I’m too tired.” My head lolls against his chest as he laughs. I feel the mattress beneath me and try to turn over but his hand clasps my arm stopping me. He takes off my shoes, then my socks. I try to turn over again but he stops me. I just want to get comfortable. I feel him unbutton my jeans and then he pulls the zipper down. His hands are in the waistband and I feel him pull them over my hips and down my legs until they’re off. I turn and he lets me this time, putting my hands underneath the pillow. I’m about to fall asleep when I feel his hands move underneath my t-shirt, unclasping my bra. He puts his hands underneath my arms and lifts me until I’m sitting. I barely open one eye and watch the concentrated look on his gorgeous face as he pulls one of my arms out of a sleeve then the other, pulling the t-shirt over my head. He removes my bra and gently lays me back down. Again I start to doze off when I feel the mattress dip beside me and the covers lift. He gets me situated by lifting my legs and pulling the covers up then he pulls me into his arms and I nestle my head into his chest. His arm wraps around me, the other holds my arm over his waist. I’m so tired but I’ve never been more comfortable in all my life.
I wake up and look at the clock. Eleven o’clock. I fly out of bed and run in to take my shower, quickly running a brush through my hair, brush my teeth, use the toilet, and throw on some clothes. “I can’t believe he let me sleep this late,” I mumble as I run downstairs. I walk through the living room and just as I start to walk into the kitchen a knock sounds on the front door. I stop, turn, and walk to the door. I stand on my tiptoes and look through the peephole, my smiling growing fast. I open the door and step right into his arms. “Grant.”
He gives me a tight hug then I step back. “Did you forget I was coming over? Your hair’s still wet,” he asks as he grabs some of my wet mop.
I smile, taking his hand, and pull him inside. I start leading him to the kitchen. “We were up late last night so I just woke up.”
“Damn, can you all not fuck like bunnies for just one night?”
I stop in my tracks and whip around and see the smirk on his face. “Ha, very funny. We were at the hospital. Sadie had the twins.”
His mouth turns into an ‘O’, fast.
I start pulling out lunch meat from the fridge. “Well, in that case, I stand corrected but you all do.” I turn my head and give him a smirk back. He laughs. “Hey! Nothing wrong with that.” I go back to getting what I need and hear him lean against the breakfast bar behind me. “So what’s on the agenda today? You know, Nash told me I could stay again tonight so I think I’ll stay until tomorrow.” I turn and place everything in front of him and then grabs bread and a couple of paper plates. He starts making sandwiches as I get out condiments.
“That’s great! Well, I wanna go into town and talk to the bank about the land next door, get stuff started there. I would like to meet with the seller today. I want to get started on stuff.”
“Sounds good. I can help with that.”
I had called Grant about my idea and told him what all I wanted to do. Being a lawyer he said he’d help in any way he could. I had no idea he woul
d be here in person to do it though. Makes me even more excited. “Trevor said he’d help build the house, barn, and anything else I needed. I’m really getting excited!”
We ate lunch and talked about the plans. He called a friend of his about designing a layout then put them on speakerphone and we all sorted it out. His friend, Amy, is going to be emailing me a design later today. I can’t believe this is actually going to happen.
Once we cleaned up, I walk down to the barn to tell Trevor we were leaving. Oh, my Lord! When I get to the barn doorway, I had to stop and catch my breath. His shirt is off. A straw cowboy hat sits on his head. He has a piece of straw hanging from his mouth as he pitches hay. His body has a sheen of sweat and I want to run my fingers over every inch of it. God, what he does to me without even doing anything. I lean against the doorway, just watching him for a couple of minutes. His muscles flexing with his movements and I feel like I could combust. I want to walk over and have him take me in his strong arms, lift me up and lay me down on that hay. I want him to….
“Prie? You okay over there?” His voice and his low chuckle snaps me from my desires and into his eyes that are gleaming at me.
I smile and walk to him. “Sorry. I was daydreaming.”
He stands the pitchfork up and puts his hands on top of it, leaning. He’s the perfect picture of a model or a God, maybe both.
