Split Shift (Abaddon Academy Book 1) Page 15

by LM Wilson

I look down at myself, awe filling my mind and heart. I’m not a Pegasus like Malachi. I’m not a Dragon, or a Panther or a bear…

I’m a… Fire climbs up my limbs, encasing my entire body in the protective heat. I’m floating a good five feet off the ground. My elemental flames are usually a red gold but the flames surrounding me right now are a blue so deep they look almost black. I’ve never seen anything like it in my life.

  “Holy shit, she’s a Phoenix!”

“No. Joey is so much more than that. Go ahead Joey, shift again.” Malachi says on a laugh.

I float back to the ground and close my eyes, concentrating on the feeling of heat that I felt. My body shifts, shrinking slightly and elongating. I can feel a tail growing out from above my ass but it doesn’t hurt.

“Dragon. A pure blue-black one at that.” Angel breathes.

I close my eyes and concentrate on Raine’s panther. With a laugh my body shifts again, I drop closer to the ground but not as much as I was expecting.

“Shit you’re bigger than me.” Raine says from my left. I chuff at him and close my eyes again. Bringing Chase’s bear to my mind. I shift and feel my body once again changing.

“Never seen a blue-black bear before but damn you’re beautiful.” Chase smiles, a full genuine smile. I close my eyes once more, picturing Malachi’s Pegasus. My feet hit the ground as hooves. Wings sprout from my shoulder blades and I find my laugh coming out as a very horse-like whinny.

“A chromatic Pegasus, now I’ve seen everything.” Malachi laughs.

I shift back to my human body and gasp. Not only did I manage to shift but I managed to keep my clothes as though I’ve been doing it for years.

“Joey….” Four awed voices say at the same time.

“Well, I guess the training has begun!” The five of us turn to face Bandit, goofy smiles on our faces. “Okay, yeah the five different animals were impressive, but can you show me your hands now.”

I frown and extend my hands towards him. On the back of my right hand are all four elemental symbols. Earth, Air, Fire and Water. On the back of my right is a fifth symbol.

  “The Royal Crown of Spirit….”

  Epilogue: Miranda

My head is shaking almost as much as my hands. I can’t believe what I just saw.

Those stupid boys unlocked her curse.

Mother said it was impossible. That no girl could get four guys to fall in love with her without a mate bond.

Mother, you have no idea how bloody wrong you were!

I close my eyes and take a deep breath. It doesn’t matter because even with their love, she’ll never pass the trials. I’ll make damn fucking sure of that!
