The Prince's Bride Page 17

by Joanne Wadsworth

Together, they’d fallen endlessly in love.

Anteros plunged inside her, his rigid length going deep, over and over again, and she got swept away, cleaving unto him and embracing all that they could be together as one. Spreading her arms even wider, she soared higher than she’d ever soared before, her prince taking flight right alongside her.

  Heaven. This was pure heaven.

As was the baby cradled deep in her belly, the child still a secret she hadn’t yet shared with her husband. She intended to now though, in this most precious of places. Holding him close as they both came back down from the heights of ecstasy where they’d flown, she whispered in his ear, “You’re going to be a father in another seven months.”

“Are you certain?” His cock twitched inside her, suddenly filling again.

“I haven’t had my courses since I arrived on this island, so yes, I’m very certain.”

“Tì amo. Tì amo. I love you.” Smile wide, dimples showings, he kissed her thoroughly.

“I love you too.” He was her prince, the man she belonged to, the world beyond these shores now theirs to explore together.

Such an incredible adventure awaited them.

She couldn’t wait to begin it.

  Author’s Note – A Must Read

I’ve had so much fun writing this Regency Brides series. This series is supposed to be five books in length, but I truly feel as if I’ve only just begun, that there are still so many stories to tell. If you’ve been with me throughout this journey across all five books, then you’ll have read about Captain Bradley Poole who stood at Harry’s side during the Battle of Sobral in The Wartime Bride. I long to write his story. I also have the perfect heroine for Christopher Raven, Viscount Avery, who aided Winterly in rescuing Rosamonde in The Earl’s Secret Bride. Then there is Adrestia. Oh my, I can only say that I’ve already had her hero plaguing my dreams with the whirlwind of an adventure the two of them are destined to have.

If you wish for me to write their stories and to continue this series, then please leave a review on this book stating that is so. It is my job to write books for you, and I take that job seriously, so if you make your demands known, I will quickly buckle and obey.

Time to chat about King Ferdinand now. He was known as Ferdinand IV of the Kingdom of Naples, and Ferdinand III of the Kingdom of Sicily. Ferdinand and his wife did in fact have many children over the course of their marriage, eighteen to be exact, with only seven of the eighteen having survived to adulthood.

Here’s some more key information about King Ferdinand. He was deposed twice from the throne of Naples, once by the revolutionary Parthenopean Republic for six months in 1799, and again by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1805. Napoleon replaced Ferdinand with his own brother, Joseph Bonaparte, in 1806. Joseph then ruled Naples for two years before being replaced by Napoleon’s brother-in-law, Joachim Murat, in 1808. This story takes place in 1811, when Joachim Murat held the throne.

On the 3rd of March 1815, following the Austrian victory of the Battle of Tolentino, Ferdinand was once more restored to the throne of Naples over his rival monarch, King Joachim Murat. A year later on the 8th of March 1816, Ferdinand merged his two thrones of Sicily and Naples into one throne, thereby being known as the King of the Two Sicilies, a kingdom he continued to rule over until his death on the 4th of January 1825.

Ferdinand did in fact marry one of his sons, Leopoldo, to the Archduchess Clementina of Austria, just four years after this story took place in 1816, their marriage made to strengthen the ties between their two countries.

As usual, I do my very best to keep all elements of historical information as precise as possible, although the main characters I write about are always fictional, and as such so were Anteros and Olivia. Thank you all for joining me on their adventure across the high seas. It has been an absolute pleasure to write their story and to bring it to you.
