That night, Max couldn’t sleep. He kept replaying the strange events of the day over and over in his head. First a visit from a ghost in the school’s vending machine and now, the discovery that the cat he had had all his life could talk.
He had tried talking to Ariel many times, but the cat just closed her eyes and ignored him.
Who are my parents? he wondered. Why are all these strange things happening to me? Who am I?
The more he thought about it, the more certain he was that he had imagined the cat’s speech.
But then why had the cat’s explanation about the origin of his bracelet made so much sense?
