Rescued Love Page 2

by W. M. Kirkland

The musk of Cody’s aroused cock filled Jay’s nostrils. He breathed deeply, stroking his fingers up and down the shaft with reverence as if he were afraid the vision before him might disappear. He curled his fingers around the length to the sound of Cody’s groans and when he began to stroke, Cody moved his hips in time.

Oh yes, he’d missed this. The warm steel in his hand brought back so many memories, all of them good. He replaced his hand with his mouth, taking Cody all the way down his throat. With his nose tickled by Cody’s curly hairs, he grabbed his lover’s hips and sucked him hard. Just as with him, it didn’t take long for Cody to come, and Jay swallowed every drop. He released Cody’s cock, refastened his jeans and stood.

“You didn’t have to do that. It was good. Don’t get me wrong, but I didn’t blow you just for a return.” Cody said.

“I wanted to. I need to do evening chores.” Jay hurried out of the dining room before he could say something more like the same three words that had sent Cody running those months ago. Because it would be too easy to let himself believe in this. The full cupboards. The soon-to-be-full hayloft. Cody. He didn’t want to steel himself for what was to come, but this wasn’t a Hallmark movie and life certainly didn’t work like that. He’d seen Cody walk away once before.

  ~* * *~

With evening chores done, Jay stopped by Prince’s stall. The big gray gelding had been a race horse for five years, making his owners and trainers millions of dollars. Knee damage and a bowed tendon almost sent him to an auction where he’d end up most likely sold to a kill buyer. Not even a little kid wanted an arthritic ex-race horse to ride around on, and anyone who might retrain him for a second career had been scared off by those knees. The bow was visible, severe, and there was a good chance in the years to come he’d only be sound enough to hang out in the pasture with Red and Fuzzy, the little elderly Shetland Pony who had come with the property.

Jay let himself into Prince’s stall, closing the door behind him. “How you doing, old boy?” The horse was hardly old. Seven wasn’t old for a horse at all, not even one with the issues Prince had. He patted the gelding’s neck, and Prince snorted before nosing around to look for treats. “I want to be happy. I want to believe Cody is here to stay. I’m just not sure I can.” Jay sighed.

Prince grew tired with the search for treats and went back to munching the hay Jay had placed in his manger.

“I know. You don’t worry about tomorrow. You simply take each day as it comes. I want to do that. I wish I could do that.”

“But I haven’t given you much reason to think that, have I?” Cody stepped around the corner. “I wish I could take that ugly fight back. I wish I could fix it, but…I think I had to grow up a bit. A lot.” He smiled. “I’m not going anywhere.” Cody opened the feed door and Prince, ever ready to take advantage, stretched his muzzle through. “Who is this big guy?” He patted Prince on the nose.

  “Prince.”

Cody peered into the stall. “Bowed tendon. Race horse?”

“At one time.” Jay gave the horse one, final pat and then backed out of the stall. He latched the door, then latched the feed door. “Come on.” He led Cody to the tack room with an attached office. Another flea market find provided a couch and a mini refrigerator. He grabbed a can of LaCroix and offered one to Cody, who took it. “I feel like I owe you an apology for thinking you’ll run away.” He sat down.

Cody sat next to him. “And I should have called.” He took a long drink. “I can’t say what the future will bring. I do know that after my dad and I fought, I wanted nothing more than to see you. To hold you. To love you again. I remembered you working toward this place, wanting to start this rescue. So I looked you up.”

Jay wasn’t sure how to reply except to say, “I missed you.”

“I missed you, too.” He set down his can. “Look, I know this is sudden, so can we agree to take it one day at a time?”

His words mirrored Jay’s earlier thoughts so closely that it was almost as if he’d been listening in. And maybe he had. Frankly, he had to put the past behind him. It only weighed him down and cast a shadow over what should have been a happy reunion. “Yeah. We can.”

“Good.” Cody kissed him again, and this time, maybe because of their newfound commitment, his lips were sweeter. Clothes were but a barrier to be discarded, and soon, Cody lay atop him, both of them naked on the couch. If the fabric was a bit rough, or the room a bit dusty, it didn’t matter. Not when Cody’s mouth moved across his, hands searching, stroking, finding hard flesh and bringing it even more fully to life.

Jay arched against him, his hard cock sliding against Cody’s sweaty abs. The delicious friction focused his pleasure on the slide of skin against skin. The scent of leather from the tack, with a hint of molasses from the sweet feed, filled the air. To Jay it could be the sweetest ambrosia. He grabbed Cody’s shoulders and flipped him so that he was down on the couch and Jay on top.

“I’ve dreamed of this.” He bent Cody’s knees back, wanted to watch the play of emotions on his face as he took him. Reaching down, he cupped Cody’s cock, taking the beads of moisture and drawing them completely down the shaft. He pumped his hand up and down, coating it with the fluid, then reaching between his legs to stroke his own cock. He pressed his thumb to Cody’s puckered hole. “Are you ready?”

“Oh yeah,” Cody said. In his position he couldn’t reach for Jay, at least not far, and when Jay leaned over him and pressed his cock where his thumb once was, Cody’s moan echoed in the mostly empty room.

Slowly, so slowly Jay thought it might kill them both, he pressed into his lover. There was no past, no future, only this moment, and the tight sensation of Cody’s body around his cock and the emotions in his eyes. He forced himself to stay slow, to make this moment last. He didn’t want to pound himself spent, not when they had today and so much of the future waiting for them. Savor tonight, then they could savor tomorrow and every tomorrow after that.

No words were needed. Nothing except the wet sounds of sex and their panting breaths punctuated by the sounds of horses finishing dinner and settling down filled the air.

At last Jay could wait no longer. Cody cried out as he came, seed spilling up onto Jay’s stomach, down over his thighs. Jay followed with a horse shout, unable to hold back his passion any longer. His cock spasmed, spilling deep into Cody. His cock slid free, and he fell onto Cody in a tangle of sweaty limbs.

For long moments, neither one of them moved. Jay didn’t think he could move. Two orgasms in an afternoon had to be a record, or at least one in recent memory. Only with Cody. From beneath him, Cody wrapped an arm around him, palm flat on his lower back. Jay’s breathing came back to normal and he lay there, listening to the thud of Cody’s heart beneath his ear. He breathed deeply and evenly, so much so that Jay wondered if he’d fallen asleep.

“I think my leg has gone numb,” Cody said. He tried to straighten his leg, but the couch wasn’t built for what they had done.

“I’m not sure I can move,” Jay admitted.

Cody laughed and with a shove, sent Jay tumbling off the couch onto the floor. He joined in with the laughter, sitting up and realizing that dust clung to his back. “Ugh.” That set them off to laughing again, and somehow, Jay made it to the shower. He cleaned up, pulled on his pants, and stepped out of the shower to find Cody standing there.

“Thank you for taking me in. You didn’t have to you know.” Cody paused in the bathroom’s doorway.

“I know. But I wanted to. And besides, that’s what I do, rescue those who are lost.” Jay moved aside to offer the shower.

Cody moved past him, stopping long enough to run a hand down Jay’s chest. “I’m not lost. Not when I’m with you.” Before Jay could answer, Cody stepped into the shower stall, pulled the curtain closed and turned on the water.

Jay hurried back to the house, his rumbling stomach reminding him that they hadn’t eaten anything since breakfast. He paused by Prince’s stall. The gelding pressed
his muzzle to the stall bars. “I think we rescued each other,” he said, reaching through to pat Prince. “I think that’s exactly what happened.”

The horse snorted and went back to searching the corners of his grain pan for any missed morsels. Jay smiled and as he walked back to the house, he realized that for the first time in a long time he had hope for the future. Indeed, Cody’s arrival had rescued him from a lot more than he realized. And together, they’d rescue many more.
