  Chapter 1

Ally Brody knocked back the remains of her coffee before she pulled on her jacket. “I gotta go,” she announced as she grabbed her bag and her car keys.

“Jesus, Ally you are always in such a hurry,” Caitlin moaned, as she put her half eaten sandwich back on the plate and stared at her friend. Ally sighed and looked from one to the other of her two best friends.

“I’m sorry,” she replied honestly. “But I promised Gus I would be back in time to help him close up...”

Ally worked as a mechanic for Gus Parson in Parson’s Repairs for almost six years now and she loved it. Ever since she was little, Ally loved anything to do with cars and specifically engines. Her grandfather was a mechanic and he had taught her everything she knew.

Her grandfather used to own Parson’s Repairs, which was call Brody’s Body Shop back then and one of the best known Garages in Dublin, but he sold it due to ill health when Ally was about 16. Gus, who had been her grandfather’s top mechanic, bought him out and changed the name to Parson’s Repairs.

When Ally left collage, where she studied Mechanical Engineering and Automotive Technology. She got a job at Parson’s.

“How about we meet up for a drink tonight then?” Hannah suggested as she sipped her coffee. “It’s been ages since we were all out together.”

“I can’t tonight, Hannah,” Ally sighed regretfully. “I promised Nan I would call by for dinner tonight. She is stressing about me since I broke up with Jason. So I have to go and prove to her I am not some quivering wreck losing the will to live. But I can do tomorrow night.”

“Did you tell her you found Jason banging his assistant?” Caitlin asked in her usual direct undiplomatic way.

“No,” Ally rolled her eyes. “Surprisingly enough, I didn’t feel the need to give my grandmother a blow by blow of how Jason was getting a blow by blow from his tart of an assistant when I walk in on him.”

“Have you heard from him at all?” Hannah asked with concern etched across her face.

“He has tried calling a few times,” Ally sighed as she rubbed her tired eyes. “But I have nothing to say to him. And I’m certainly not interested in hearing what that lying snake has to say either.”

“He has your new number already?” Hannah asked in surprised. “Yeah, although not sure how he got it,” Ally replied. “But he is harmless really, just a lying cheating asshole. I just ignore the texts and I don’t answer his calls.”

“But you’re sure you’re ok?” Caitlin asked. Now it was her turn to look concerned.

“I am fine!” Ally assured her friends as she bent over and kissed Caitlin on the top of her head and then turn and kissed Hannah too. “I promise. I will call you both later and we can arrange something for tomorrow night.”

Ally slung her bag over her shoulder and waved goodbye to her friends and quickly headed for the door. She stepped out into the late November air and instinctively pulled her jacket around her tightly.

She walked quickly to her car at the far end of the pub car park and jumped inside. She turned on the engine and quickly put the heat on to the max.

God it’s freezing! She thought to herself as she shivered with the cold. She hated the winter. She looked at the thermostat on her dash board and it read -2.

She started the engine and reversed out of her parking space and headed towards the exit of the car park. Her drive through Clonee Village was surprisingly q
uick and moments later she was taking the slip road down onto the Navan Road. However the traffic was much heavier on the Navan Road and was barely moving at all.

As Ally inched along the roadway, her thoughts flicked back to that night, three weeks earlier.

She had cancelled on Jason once again because she was called out to a breakdown and he was less than impressed. She promised him she would make it up to him but she knew he was sulking. He told her he would probably just work late instead.

Just as she was about to set off on her journey, Gus called to say that Sean, one of the other mechanics from the garage, was close by the broken down car and that he would take the call.

Ally quickly hurried back into her apartment and changed in to her sexiest lingerie and her long black coat and headed for Jason’s offices.

He was head of accounts in a multinational company in one of the new builds near the Leopardstown racecourse. When she reached the building she waved at the night security guard who recognised her from her regular visits to Jason when he had to work late. She would often call with takeout and waited for him to finish for the night.

She stepped into the lift and pressed the button for the 8th floor. She smiled to herself and she imagined Jason’s face when she walked into his office and dropped her coat, revealing she was wearing nothing but her sexy black lingerie, suspenders and black stockings.

She had never done anything like this before and she couldn’t help but feel a little nervous. When it came to cars and dealing with customers, Ally was confident and very self-assured. However, that confidence seemed to disappear on Ally when it came to the bedroom. She was shy and self-conscious and sometimes a little too reserved. But Ally knew Jason was disappointed she had cancelled on him that night, in fact she had cancelled for the third time in a week. And the fact that he already hated her job didn’t help the situation. She thought this might be a fun apology.

It wasn’t that Ally was unattractive. She was pretty in her own way. She had wavy blond shoulder length hair, pretty almond shaped eyes, and sparkling blue eyes. She was 5’3 with a curvy figure. But she lacked confidence, especially when it came to men. Jason told her time and time again she was beautiful. She just had a hard time believing it.

When the lift reached the 8th floor she stepped out and made her way along the corridor. She could see the light on in his office at the end of the hallway, but the blinds were closed, which was unusual she thought but she didn’t dwell on this.

As she reached his door she stopped outside for a moment giving herself a little pep talk. Suddenly she was a bag of nerves and she wasn’t sure if she could do this.

Get a grip! Ally scolded herself and she reached for the handle of the door.

That’s when she heard the familiar sounds coming from inside Jason’s office. She had been seeing him for almost two years now and she knew every sound he made when they were together. Her stomach almost hit the floor and her heart began to drum loudly in her ears as it sent the blood racing through her body, almost setting her skin on fire.

Taking a deep breath she slowly opened the door and sure enough there was Jason, his eyes closed, his head thrown back and his assistant on her knees in front of him with his cock lodged firmly in her mouth.

As Ally stood for a moment in disbelief, she thought she was going to throw up as her stomach heaved. She leaned against the door frame to stop herself from falling down and she released the breath she hadn’t realised she was still holding. That’s when Jason suddenly opened his eyes and panic replaced the look of pleasure across his cheating face.

“Oh fuck, Ally!” he exclaimed and he quickly removed himself from the tarts filthy mouth. “Sweetheart, let me explain.”

But she didn’t want to hear it. She turned on her heels and headed back toward the lift as quickly as her legs could carry her in 5 inch stilettos. Stupid high heeled shoes, she thought to herself as she wobbled a couple of times as she hurried along the corridor.

When she reached the lifts, she pressed the call button repeatedly, willing the lift to get there quicker. She tried hard to steady her ragged breathing.

She could hear footsteps hurrying along the hallway behind her as she pressed the button again, harder and harder.

“Ally, please,” Jason said as he reached her and grabbed her arm.

“Don’t you dare touch me!” she snapped pulling her arm free from his grip. “You make me sick. Go back to your little whore. I am sure she is more than happy to finish off giving you your blowjob.”

“I don’t want her sweetheart,” he cried as pure panic filled his eyes. “I want you, I love you.”

“Oh please!” Ally replied with a half laugh. Images of Jason and his assistance quickly flooded her mind and her stomach heaved. She tried to push the images from her head immediately. “Two minutes ago you couldn’t have picked me out in a line up. You don’t love me and I certainly don’t love you. You make me sick Jason; now stay the hell away from me.”

“Ally please! Don’t do this,” he begged. “I know you don’t mean that.”

“You’re kidding right?” she snapped as she turned around and stepped closer to him as anger and revulsion coursed through her body. “I wouldn’t touch you again if you were the last man on earth.”

“But Ally I love you! Jason exclaimed, taking her by the hands but she quickly pulled her hand from his grasp.

“Well I don’t love you,” she spat back. “I can’t even bear to look at you anymore.”

“How can you say that?” he whispered. “Do you know how much you are hurting me right now?”

“Oh I’m sorry,” she laughed bitterly. “Did my back hurt your knife?” With that, the lift doors finally pinged and opened behind her. She turned and stepped into the lift then turned back to Jason as the doors began to close. “Goodbye, Jason.”

She shook her head as came back to the present and tried to erase the images of that night from her mind. To distract herself she reached over and switched on the radio in the car and the sound of Coldplay, ‘Fix You’, filled the car. She loved this song and began singing along as the traffic moved at a snail’s pace.

“What is with the traffic?” she said to herself as she craned her neck to try and see what the holdup was. When Coldplay’s song ended she switched the radio station to try and get a traffic report.

The guy on the radio said there was a big accident on the M50 southbound and that had caused a tailback as far as the Clonee Bypass.

“Great!” Ally cried and thumped her stirring wheel. She pressed the button on her sound system and switched on the CD player. Taylor Swift began to sing about breaking up with some guy and Ally laughed at just how appropriate the song was and began singing at the top of her voice.

She noticed a set of hazard lights on the hard shoulder ahead about 100 yards. Ally looked at the thermostat on her dash board again and the temperature had dropped to -4.

Shit! she thought to herself. It is going to take forever for a breakdown truck to reach them in this traffic and it is so damn cold.

She sighed and indicated to pull over. She knew she should have kept driving but her grandmother would not have been happy that she passed by someone when there was a chance she might be able to help them.

She pulled in behind the car and switched off her engine. That was when she noticed the car was a high end Land Rover, unusual for one of those to break down, she thought.

She zipped her jacket all the way and grabbed her scarf from the back seat and wrapped it tightly around her neck before she climbed out of the car.

She walked between the front of her car and the back of the Land Rover, deciding it was safer to walk down the passenger side of the car then the driver’s side, which was way too close to the passing traffic.

When she reached the passenger’s door she tapped on window softly. It was fogged up from the breath of whoever was sitting inside.

Slowly the window began to fall. Ally leaned in and her breath caught in her
chest. Looking back at her with the most amazing pair blue eyes she had ever seen. Then she noticed the rest of the man’s face.

The finishing touch to this handsome face and possible the best part was the most perfect set on luscious lips Ally had ever seen. He was the epitome of perfection.

“Wow!” Ally blurted out, loudly, and immediately wish the ground would swallow her whole.

“Excuse me?” the God sitting behind the steering wheel said, trying his hardest to stifle a laugh.

“What…um…what is the problem?” she blurted trying her hardest not to drop dead from pure embarrassment. “With the car I mean. What’s wrong with it?”

“It just died on me,” he answered, looking at her with an amused look on his face. He had a British accent and it was sexy as hell. “Bit by bit it just shut down.”

“Do you have petrol?” she asked.

“Of course!” he almost growled, rolling his eyes and he released an impatient sigh.

“Then pop the hood and I’ll have a look,” she replied matter of factly as she leaned back from the window. Then much to her surprise he burst out laughing and she leaned back into the car.

“Sorry. Did I say something funny?”

“You want me to pop the hood?” he answered trying his hardest not to laugh again.

“Well if you want my help, it would be helpful,” she replied dryly.

“You’re going to fix my car?” he raised his eyebrows in surprised. She narrowed her eyes at him and regarded him for a moment.

“Actually... No. No I’m not,” she snapped as her blood boiled. How dare he laugh at her? “You can freeze your sexist ass off in your stupid posh car for all I care.”

Without saying another word she turned and stomped off back to her car swearing under her breath.

“Wait,” a voice shouted from behind her followed by a door slamming and the sound of hurried footsteps. She didn’t stop or even slow down.

She just hurried back to her car and reached for the handle of her door but he was next to her before she could open it and get in.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean any offence,” he quickly apologised.
