“Actually you’re right Greg.” Joss was saying. “Ben, you want a life where you don’t want to ever work for anything? Here, you have Lisa to go home with but this is who I am. I would never choose money over my own happiness.” She said.

Ben had not been aware that she had been listening to them earlier. He was caught up in the middle.

“I just can’t make that choice now you know.” Ben was saying when Joss interrupted.

“It’s not a thinker Ben, you want your money, and this is how the rest of your life looks like. You are going to spend your life running away from home simply because you are stuck with the wrong person.” Joss said.

“The only wrong person her is you Joss. I have grown up with Ben; I know every little thing about him. Things you will never know about him.” Lisa said.

“It’s good you know everything about him but you are missing the point here; you don’t make him happy. He is not in love with you. Now choke on that” Joss said, leaving the room. She went to where she had kept the whiskey she had bought that morning. She poured herself a little and drank it in a flash.

“You may want to slow down on that Joss.” Greg warned as he held her by her shoulders.

“The last time I drank this thing I puked my heart out. You should have seen Ben holding my hair back. I was wasted.” She said in a loud laughter.

Ben and Lisa were still arguing in the living room until Ben got irritated and walked out on her. He joined Greg and Joss in the kitchen. He also poured himself a glass of whiskey.

“You know what guys, you are right. I need to look into my life and get control over it.” Ben said. “And I choose you.” He said.

“You what?” Joss asked him. It wasn’t anything she had expected to come from him.

“I know it sounds crazy and am not drunk,” ben insisted. He needed to be happy, at least once.

  “Where is Lisa?” Greg asked.

“She just drove off. We broke up.” Bed said.

“I am so sorry you guy broke up. I didn’t mean that you should break up, it’s just that sometimes you have to risk everything you’ve got just to be happy.” Joss said.

“It’s okay. That was no way to live. I am switching odd my cell phone. My dad is going to be so mad at me.” Ben said. Joss caressed softly on his arm to reassure him.

“I know you will deal with it over time.” Greg said. “I dealt with my dad. Remember the day he literally threw me out of the house when you guys watched? I didn’t know what to start but am doing just fine.”

“You should have seen your face that night. It was priceless.” Ben laughed at him.

“You should look at your face right now. Who’s laughing now?” Greg teased.

“I think we should get super drunk now that everyone is gone. You will deal with your dad tomorrow when you’re hangover as hell.” Joss suggested.

Everybody grabbed a tot glass and the fun started. They tossed at anything and in two hours, they were all drunk to the ground. All Ben could say was Joss’ name. He had never been drunk like he was that night. Greg passed out on the couch and left Joss and Ben who were making out on the floor. She had never felt that attracted to someone like she was attracted to Ben. She held his hand and they both staggered their way to her bedroom. She dropped him on the bed and started kissing him wildly. There must have been something about Ben that kept her hooked on him. He was so aroused and at the same time drunk. Joss kissed her way to his bulging crotch. She undid his jeans and released his erection. Without much hesitation, she wrapped her lips around him and started rolling her tongue on his tip. Ben grunted with pleasure. She then took him in her mouth moving up and down, slowly at first but increased her pace. Ben grunted and called her name but she wouldn’t stop. He grabbed by the head to slow her down. He then picked her up and laid her on the bed. He quickly came on top of her and entered her in one thrust. She let out a loud moan but Ben continued. He increased his pace and force until they collapsed on the bed and finally fell asleep.

  That was the best night of Ben’s life. He had never been free of his parents and Lisa. He had let them control his life even as an adult. That morning, Ben woke up to switch on his phone only to get his father’s emails. He had been mad the whole night since Lisa called him to tell them what had happened. His parents could not understand how Ben could have been that stupid to fall for a peasant. How on earth could he betray his father’s trust in him? He had chosen to go away and that was it. His mother had left him a voice message;

You may run away Ben but you will never find a woman like Lisa. I will be coming to your cousin’s the first thing morning.

Before he finished listening to the messages, Greg knocked on their bedroom door. He pushed it open.

“Hey, your mother is here. You’re in for it.” Greg warned.

Ben woke up and dressed up before he went to the living room. His mother and her assistant were standing in the middle of the room.

“Hey mom.” He said, pretending like nothing was really wrong that morning.

“So you want to tell me whatever happened between you and Lisa?” She was angry with him.

“Mom, she wasn’t the person who I wanted to be with.” Ben tried to explain himself but his mother cut him short.

“And whoever put all that nonsense in your head?” His mother asked. “You are going to her place and apologize to her. She will take you back and everything will go back to normal. And that’s solved.” She turned to live the house but Ben called her out.

“Mom, that is never going to happen. I really want to live my life my own way.” He said. At this point he didn’t fear his mother like he used to.

“I am taking away everything from you.” She threatened before exiting the apartment.

“Are you okay, Ben?” Joss had been listening to the conversation but had decided not to interrupt. It was Ben to fight for whatever he believed in.

“Yeah,” Ben said. Looking out the window, his mother burned down his motor cycle, the only asset he had acquired on his own. “My mother is crazy.” He sighed before going back to bed. It felt like something had been lifted off his shoulders but he knew he had to look for a job, or a way to live without depending on his cancelled credit cards.

“And the life begins.” Greg teased. “Hey, it’s all going to work out man. Actually if you need a job, the restaurant has an open position for bartending.”

“Oh, really? I have never done that in my life before.” Ben interjected.

“We all start from somewhere Ben.” Joss said, placing a soft kiss on his lips.

“Yes. She is right.” Greg added.

A few weeks later, Ben had settled in well at his new job. His parents had not talked to him since he broke up with Lisa but he was happy. They would go to work together and get back home all together. One morning, Joss woke up feeling sick and worn out. She had been feeling fatigued for days now until she decided to go to the hospital. Greg was happy to drive her to the hospital since Ben was working that day. The doctor looked at her after taking several tests on her.

“Congratulations, you are expecting a child.” He said smiling at her.

Joss didn’t know whether to be happy or scared. She didn’t know what she was going to tell Ben. How could she have been that careless? Her life had just started and now she was carrying another life inside of her.

“I am pregnant?” That was all she managed to tell the doctor. She didn’t know what to say about it.

Greg drove her back home but he noticed she was awfully quiet.

“What’s with you?” He asked. “Nothing. The doctor says am just fatigued and I need to rest.” She lied.

She had never been that scared all her life. She decides to tell Ben about the child that night after his shift. However, she was not sure how he was going to take the news.

“Ben, we need to talk.” She said when he got home.

“Hey, what’s wrong baby?” Ben asked in a concerned voice.

  “I am car
rying your child.” She finally managed to say.

“Wait, what?” he was startled and happy at the same time. He didn’t know what to say but he also couldn’t hide his joy.

“Well?” Joss asked when Ben wouldn’t say anything.

“I have a surprise too, I got us an apartment three blocks from here.” He said, smiling from ear to ear. “That’s where we are going to raise our baby.”

Joss smiled at him warmly and he kissed her on the lips. She had been doubtful about it but a part of her knew that Ben would not let her down.

“I am going to be a father.” Ben kept saying all through dinner. He finally realized the meaning of life.

Despite his parent’s disowning him, there was only one good thing going on in his life; the love of his life and the child they were expecting. They moved to their new apartment two weeks later and lived happily ever after.

  The Unexpected Bride

  A Mail Order Bride Romance

  Chapter One

"Honey, please" Brad begged. His beautiful blonde wife was currently throwing all of his clothes and various other belongings out of the window. He flinched each time she threw an item with fury. His wife had accused him of cheating, multiple times throughout their marriage.

He lifted his arms as if to try and soothe the beast that was before him. But it was to no avail. Lillian was furious, and she meant business.

"I'm tired of this!" She told him, "You never appreciate me!"

Brad stared at her for a few seconds; he was trying to come up with something to say that hopefully wouldn't throw fuel into the fire. However, he ran out of time to respond when a pair of his boxer briefs was thrown at his face.

Lillian decided to scream before she broke out into sobs. Brad stared at her lost for words. He had always known that she was one for theatrics.

"Please, Lillian my honey bunny" Brad tried again. She glared up at him through her tears.

Lillian shouted at the top of her lungs, "Get. Out!"

Brad was replaying the scene of his wife's episode. He had never felt more helpless in his life. He thought that he had everything together, and yet, she was always so upset at him. He didn't have any idea on what to do. He had tried to give her more attention and buy her gifts. Yet, she was still so unhappy.

Brad rolled over on the itchy bed that he was forced to sleep in. He was in a motel for the night. He kept rolling around and was unable to get comfortable. Eventually, he sat up and brushed his hand through his hair in frustration.

"I can't do this" He sighed to himself. He stood up and went to go grab a shirt. Brad was on a mission; he was going to march straight up to his wife and tell her that he was crazy for her. He just wanted to make everything right again.

By the time he made it back to the small house that they had shared, he was shocked to see another car in the driveway. His heart sank. The feeling in his gut twisted and told him that there was something wrong, but he decided not to listen. He opened the door only to reveal the dark lights.

His breathing seemed too loud. He tried to slow down his heart, but the beat seemed to be strong and slightly off tempo.

As he continued throughout the house, he noticed that there were signs of someone being there. Plates of half-eaten food long forgotten and candles lit. He chuckled to himself by accident. This was almost too cliché. Despite knowing what he was walking into, he still felt shocked.

When he opened the bedroom door, he found his wife in the arms of another man. They had both woken up quickly, perhaps sensing another presence in the room.

  His wife started crying.

  Chapter Two

Brad was brought out of his daydreaming as the cashier started loading up his cart with groceries. She was blonde and curvy, just like his ex-wife. He didn't know why he was suddenly thinking about her. Their divorce had happened several years ago. He smiled at the cheery young woman and started heading out of the store and towards his car.

Brad was a bit of a nerd. He made his money by designing websites for well-established companies and was constantly busy. He didn't have much time to consider romance, the most that he had done was the date on and off, but most of the girls were only after his money.

He closed the door to his trunk and started to go back to his small apartment. He was on his day off, but he was considering working anyway. He didn't have anything better to do.

As he was reaching to go into his home office, he received a text. He looked down at his phone and clicked it open. The message was from one of his longtime friends. He was inviting him over for a small get together. Brad realized that he had completely forgotten about his invite that he had received last week.

He looked at his office door with longing but texted his friend that he would be there in a bit.

  Brad sighed.

"I really wasn't looking forward to being social. He grabbed an unopened bag of chips from his kitchen and was once again in his car.

He was engulfed in a hug, "Hey, thanks for coming!"

Nathan was a couple years older than Brad. He made most of his money from stocks and dentistry. Nathan was kind of a weird guy; even Brad could admit that. But he was nice none the less.

Brad smiled and saw a couple of his acquaintances. They all waved and welcomed him.

They all sat down and were getting ready to watch some football. Brad was surprised. Usually, Nathan would rather be watching something geekier. Brad assumed that it was one of the other guys who suggested that they watch sports. Brad was already regretting his decision to come over.

Suddenly a plate of Nachos was placed in front of him. Brad looked up only to end up gazing into lovely dark brown eyes. His throat closed up. This woman smiled at him. Her teeth weren't perfectly straight, but they were bright against the dark color of her skin.

"Thanks, Abril" Nathan kissed the woman on her cheek when she bent down to peck him on his forehead.

"Who is this?" Brad asked Nathan. He was at a loss for words. He couldn't believe that Nathan could bag such a perfect woman.

"My wife, she's from Colombia, her name is Abril," Nathan told him excitedly. Brad glanced over at her retreating figure and risked checking her out.

Brad was still confused as to how Nathan was able to get her. But he set aside his confusion to at least attempt to pay attention the game.

One of the guys hollered when his team made a touchdown and Brad tried to mimic their excitement. He didn't know why he wasn't a fan of sports. He just thought that it was somewhat boring.

Nathan looked like he wasn't enjoying their game any more than Brad was. Brad wondered why his friend had suddenly decided to act the way he was acting. Was it because of his wife? Brad smiled and chuckled to himself at the idea that his friend was trying to impress a woman. The idea of being chained into a never ending loop of making yourself look good seemed like a sad thing to force upon oneself.

Abril walked back into the living room and set down some beers. Brad hadn't noticed her in time and accidentally knocked his hand into her thigh.

Brad immediately began to apologize to her. However, she spoke in broken English, mostly saying sorry in a heavy accent. Brad had paused before he realized that Abril didn't speak much English. Brad raised his eyebrow and looked at Nathan, who had shooed the young woman off.

"C'mon honey, it's guy time," Nathan told her. She quickly went on her way.

Brad was thinking that Nathan's new wife seemed a little suspicious. He chuckled to himself; he should have known that any normal beautiful woman wouldn't be in Nathan's arms unless there was a bigger picture to it.

Nathan glanced over at Brad, who was chuckling to himself and gave him a questioning look. He didn't seemed amused and was probably on to what Brad was thinking.

The day wore painfully on, and Brad had pulled his phone out in order to keep himself busy. He went through his email, happy to do something other than pretending he was having a good time.

Soon enough the game was over, and the guys left
, just barely able to drive after a day of drinking beer.

Brad saw his chance, "So Nathan, how did you end up with the hot wife?"

Nathan raised his eyebrow as if challenging Brad to argue with his next sentence, "We met, online."

Brad chuckled, "Really? What a catch I guess."

Nathan smirked. They had been friends since they were in middle school; he knew that Brad has been lonely since his breakup with Lillian.

"I'll let you in on a secret."

  Brad perked up, "Oh really?"

"She's a mail order bride" Nathan lowered his voice. There wasn't anyone else in the room.

"No way man, that's crazy," Brad told him. He was surprised, he thought originally the girl just wanted to become a citizen, so she married the first guy to have money and a soft heart.

"I'm telling you; it's great. These girls are lovable and know how to cook. They're pretty, and they don't speak English. It's every man's dream" He told him.

Brad rolled his eyes. But he was intrigued. It must be nice to have a ready-made wife.

"Plus, it's not nearly as expensive as you would think," He told Brad eagerly.

Brad smiled at his friend. It was funny, and yet Brad was intrigued. He wondered if these things really worked out.
