In the Boss' Bed Page 10

by Elizabeth Lennox

Zeke watched as Marcy slowly gave in to the exhaustion of the past two weeks. He should feel bad for the way he’d raced out of the construction site earlier. But it was either get her out of there, or make love to her in one of the barely finished rooms.

He wasn’t going to have sex with Marcy for the first time at a construction site. No way. He was going to have her in his bed, spread out for his delectation, and he was going to take his time, enjoy every moment of exploring her beautiful figure for the first time.

Concentrating on work was not happening. So instead, he spent most of the trip simply gazing at Marcy, watching her sleep and enjoying the way her breasts rose and fell as she breathed.

The tickling feeling woke her out of a deep sleep. Marcy rolled over and smiled, her hands lifting to tangle in Zeke’s dark hair. “Is it morning?” she asked softly, her eyes fluttering open as she stretched.

His husky laughter didn’t bother her in the least. Zeke was touching her again, his strong hands sliding up and down her outer thigh and she could feel his lean hip against her as well. She remembered the last time they had been in this position, how frustrated she’d been when he’d walked away and she wasn’t going to let that happen again. More prepared now, she audaciously pressed her body against him. Not as much as she’d like, but the invitation was clear. Thankfully, he fully grasped the invitation.

“We’re about to land,” he sighed, but she still felt his hand slide along her leg again, his fingers tightening on her leg.

“We are?” she asked, feeling his need. Feeling powerful because she’d done this to him. She’d incited this need in Zeke! It was a heady sensation, knowing that Zeke wanted her.

“Yes,” he replied, but he didn’t move. His green gaze took in her features one by one, his hand still heavy and powerful against her leg. She wanted to feel that hand move against her leg, but more intimately. She wanted that hand to move, to touch her in places that she’d never wanted any other man to touch. She wanted him to…she wanted him. Period. Just everything about him.

“How soon?” she whispered, her body tense as her mind went through all the various scenarios.

“About ten minutes,” he told her.

Zeke would have laughed at her disappointed expression if he weren’t in so much pain. He’d spent the last hour just watching her sleep, enjoying the soft curves of her body and contemplating all of the different ways he wanted to make love to her. Now she was looking up at him with reciprocal desire in her gorgeous, expressive eyes and he couldn’t do anything about it.

Soon! They would be landing in Seattle very soon and he could spend the next several days making love to her.

A thought occurred to him and he pulled back slightly. “When is your next class?” he asked, realizing that she hadn’t studied over the past two weeks while she’d been helping him with all of the issues that had come up on the construction sites. “Didn’t you mention an exam this weekend?”

Marcy’s smile immediately disappeared. “Exam?” she parroted. She sat up in the chair and he backed up, adjusting the chair so that she was supported and more comfortable. The footrest disappeared and the back came up, changing the seat from a “bed” to a chair once more. “Exam?” she said again.

Zeke could almost see the gears in her beautiful head starting to work. Marcy was extremely organized, but he suspected that this detail had slipped her mind. Maybe on purpose, he thought, knowing how much she hated law school.

“Oh no!” she gasped, one hand coming up to almost smack her forehead.

Zeke pulled back, sensing that something was very wrong. “You okay?”

She shook her head. “No. Not really,” she told him.

Zeke almost groaned out loud when he saw her gaze drop once more to his mouth. “No, Marcy,” he told her and lifted her into his arms.

“No what?” she asked, shifting slightly but freezing when he groaned. She started to move off of his lap, but he only grabbed her hips and held her still. “Don’t move.”

She knew that he was…that he had… “But…”

“Stay still,” he commanded once again, his hand sliding up onto her thigh. She was adequately distracted. “When is your test?” he asked her.

She bit her lip and he almost laughed. “Don’t lie, Marcy.”

The indignant expression on her lovely features told him she’d been about to do exactly that. “I wasn’t.”

His hand slid a bit higher onto her thigh. “You were. You don’t lie very well.”

Her lovely blue eyes rolled and she huffed a bit. “I wasn’t going to lie.”

He knew that she was, but he backed off. “Okay, so you were going to stretch the truth a bit. When’s your exam?”

  “Saturday morning.”

He almost groaned. “And you’ve missed several classes already, nor have you had a chance to study.”

Marcy rubbed her forehead, trying to figure out how to get what she wanted, and still do what she needed. “Maybe we could…”

  “You’re going to study, Marcy.”

She opened her mouth but he slid his hand higher onto her thigh. The gesture caused her body and mind to freeze once more. When his hand slid lower, she relaxed slightly, but glowered at him. “You’re not playing fair, Zeke,” she complained, her voice lower, ragged.

He laughed even as he nibbled along her sensitive neck. “You should already know that about me.”

She moaned and her head tilted to the side, giving him greater access. “Zeke,” she whispered, her hands unconsciously tightening on his arms. Or maybe it wasn’t so unconscious because she loved his arms, loved all the muscles. He was rock hard everywhere she’d had the courage to explore, so far. And she was eager to explore more parts of this man. If only he would…

“I’m sorry to interrupt, sir,” a female voice said.

Marcy jerked backwards and almost fell off Zeke’s lap, so embarrassed to be caught in a compromising position by a stranger. It was only Zeke’s hands that held her from landing in an ignominious heap on the floor.

“We’re about to land?” he offered to the flight attendant. Both of them were smiling slightly, which only increased the blush staining Marcy’s cheeks.

  “Yes, sir.”

“Thanks, Olivia.” He looked at Marcy.

Marcy immediately scrambled into one of the other leather chairs and buckled in, trying to pretend that her cheeks weren’t still flaming with color. Folding her hands in her lap, she feigned indifference, but inside, she was still roiling with desire despite her embarrassment at being caught on Zeke’s lap, obviously enjoying a few moments of lascivious activities.

Ten minutes later, the plane came to a stop and a staircase was pushed up against the door. Zeke took Marcy’s hand as they walked down the wide stairs and his black BMW was already on the tarmac being loaded with their luggage by another airport employee.

Zeke led her over to the passenger seat and Marcy slid into the soft leather, amazed at how efficient Zeke’s world was. When she traveled, she was with the masses that were huddled around the luggage carousel, waiting for the airport baggage handlers to bring the luggage from the plane to the main building.

This was much nicer, she thought, as Zeke stepped into the car. But her mind wasn’t on the luggage or the pilot and the flight attendant. Her entire focus was on Zeke and the way his hands guided the steering wheel as he drove out of the airport, smoothly guiding the powerful vehicle onto the busy Seattle highway system.

Too soon, he was pulling into her apartment complex and she felt the excitement zing through her body.

But the look in his eyes told her that her dreams were not going to be realized, at least, not today. He effortlessly hefted her heavy suitcase out of the trunk, took her hand, and led her into her apartment. At the door, he kissed her forehead. “Take the next few days off to study for your test.”

She opened her mouth to protest, wanting to explain that a couple more hours, in which they could spend in bed, w
ouldn’t hurt.

He must have been able to read her mind because his thumb covered her lips, stopping her argument. “No, Marcy. We’re not making love until after your exam.”

“Why?” she asked, feeling and sounding petulant, but she couldn’t help it. He’d woken her up in such a way that her whole body was still tingling with excitement. Not to mention how he’d touched and kissed her all morning!

He laughed and pulled her into his arms. “Because you’ve been tormenting me for weeks now with your luscious body.” He kissed her neck, teased the shell of her ear and nipped her earlobe. “So, when I finally get you into my bed, naked and spread out for me, I’m not letting you out of that bed for several days.”

With that announcement, he covered her mouth with his; sealing his promise with the most erotic kiss she’d ever endured. Her hands moved from his forearms up to his shoulders as she clung to him, holding on as he made love to her mouth, his tongue sliding in and out, teasing her, tormenting her.

She was trembling when he finally lifted his head to look down at her and she wanted to scream, needing a conclusion to their activities.

“What time is your exam on Saturday?” he asked.

Marcy was somewhat soothed by the gravelly tone of his voice, not to mention the erection that she felt pressing against her stomach. He was in the same predicament! Unfortunately, that didn’t help her. Not even a little!

She tried to think, to remember her class schedule, but it was hard when he was doing that thing with his teeth against her neck. She wanted to focus on that instead of her class.

“Marcy, what time?” he repeated, his hands sliding along her back, pressing her hips closer to his erection.

  “Um…”

He laughed and pulled away, bracing his hands on the door behind her. “I’m not helping, am I?” he teased.

She inhaled deeply, trying to get her mind back on the present. “Not so much,” she agreed with a breathy voice.

“I’ve stopped. Now tell me what time your exam is on Saturday.”

He might have stopped touching her, she thought, but he was still close, his incredibly muscular body so tempting and all she wanted to do was reach out and touch him. She looked into his eyes and she knew that he wouldn’t relent.

Trying to focus, she looked up at the ceiling. “Class. Saturday,” she said, as if the words could jog her memory. “Saturday’s class starts at eight o’clock in the morning. I should be finished with the exam by about ten o’clock.”

He nodded sharply. “Good. Come over after the exam and I’ll make lunch.” He bent lower, his hands still on the wall behind her.

“Lunch?” she asked weakly. He wanted lunch? She wanted something completely different from food.

Zeke laughed softly, his hand coming to wrap gently around her neck, bringing her close once again. “Lunch…and a whole lot of other things,” he promised.

She’d thought the last kiss was erotic, but this one was…oh my! He nibbled, teased her lips, and his hand in her hair pulled her head backwards, so that he could ravish her mouth this time. She took it all, wanting so much more. Needing to ignore her exams and studying and law school so that she could keep him here and she could enjoy more of this kiss. She wanted it to go on forever. His tongue invaded her mouth and she pressed her body close to his once more, wanting everything, wanting to touch him. She was ready to strip her clothes off here in her apartment hallway if he would just make love to her body the way his mouth was making love to hers.

When he finally lifted his head again, her lips felt swollen, tingly. Her tongue darted out, tasting the remnants of his kiss and she smiled at his groan.

“Go study, Marcy,” he told her, pressing a kiss against her forehead. “Then come to my place after your exam. Don’t come into the office. Just spend the next couple of days studying.”

A moment later, she was alone, leaning against her apartment door and wishing she wasn’t enrolled in law school, that she didn’t have a suitcase to unpack, and that all of her class books would just spontaneously combust.

Boy, wouldn’t that be nice? She rolled her stupid suitcase into her bedroom and started unloading her clothes, wishing that…hoping that…

Shaking her head, she forced her mind to focus only on her task. She couldn’t think about anything right now. Thinking meant aching, and she was so tired of aching for Zeke to make love to her.

Focus on her exam. Focus on getting through the stupid test so that she could then drive over to Zeke’s place and…

Good grief, even in the privacy of her own home, she blushed at the thought of being with Zeke. Soon, she promised. Soon, he would debauch her so thoroughly that she would be able to laugh with delight and anticipation at the idea of having sex with Zeke!

  Chapter 10

Why had she said something about this stupid exam?! They’d gotten off the plane, she’d just woken up, and…

Marcy slammed her book closed and fisted her hands in her hair.

Why had he raced out of Phoenix? She’d been dreaming on the plane that they would land in Seattle and he would invite her to dinner. They would have a bit of wine, some good food, and then he would invite her back to his place. At that point, she could spend the rest of the evening discovering all of those muscles.

Oh, the man was evil! He’d asked her about her schoolwork and she’d stupidly mentioned that annoying exam! Why hadn’t she kept her mouth shut? Why had she said anything? She hated law school! She hated studying, she hated books and exams and professors and her apartment!

She didn’t want to study! She wanted to be with Zeke! She wanted to be back in his office, helping him out. She’d already re-organized her spice racks, her linen closet, and her plastic containers. Unfortunately, all of those places were already organized. She’d just come up with a different way to sort them. The new way wasn’t better than her last process, just different. The end result was that she simply wasn’t focusing on studying!

“You’re slacking off, girl,” she lectured herself. The silence of the room was horrible! She wanted Zeke!

With a sigh, she forced herself to pull the book forward again and open it. She had to get this stuff. She had an exam on Saturday morning and she’d missed so much!

Unfortunately, she didn’t regret skipping any of her classes or not spending her evenings studying. Not for a single moment. She’d loved her time with Zeke. Not just because she’d been with the man or because she loved to travel. Her time with those projects, investigating the problems, had been incredibly satisfying. She’d loved the process.

  She didn’t love law school!

When that thought popped into her head, she was stunned and horrified. Of course she loved law school! It was her plan. It was where she was heading. Her life was planned out. Law school. Good job. House. Picket fence. Dog. Cat. Accountant husband. Kids. That’s what she needed to be happy.

But she didn’t like cats. And she didn’t like…

No! She loved her plan! She’d learn to love law school, and there had to be something wonderful about cats too! They were cute and fluffy and lots of people liked them. She would too, because that was her plan.

“You’re just tired,” she told herself, but the silence of her apartment didn’t answer her back, didn’t confirm that her fatigue was the problem. The silence mocked her. Told her that she was lying to herself and to the world.

Shaking her head, she forced her mind back to her books, back to the subject matter. She was being fanciful.

Pen in hand, she worked through the legal issues presented in the study guide, found law cases that set precedent, and explained the legal argument behind each case. She’d tried to keep up with the lessons over the past two weeks, but as she really got into her normal process for studying, she knew that she’d slacked off horribly while being with Zeke.

All her fault, she told herself. But she could catch up! She had to! This was a tedious class, but law school would get better after this.
r />   She studied hard, caught back up with her evening study group and that helped a lot. She forced herself to study into the evenings as well, punishing herself for not doing more over the past two weeks. She shouldn’t have been enjoying her dinners with Zeke so much. She should have been telling him no when he’d suggested a restaurant and gone back to the hotel to study.

Now she was paying the price!

By Saturday morning, she still wasn’t sure if she was ready, but the time for the test rolled around, and she didn’t have much of a choice. Stuffing all of her notes into her tote bag, she cringed when the professor entered the lecture hall and started handing out the exams. Looking down at the questions, she felt a moment of panic, but then she saw some questions she understood and started to relax, getting into the groove again.

Two hours later, she handed in her exam, feeling pretty good about it! She might have done better if she’d been here during the class discussions, but she wasn’t going to regret anything else now.

Walking out, she lifted her face up to the sunshine. It was rare that Seattle had a sunny day like today. Normally, it was cloudy or rainy. It felt wonderful! A surge of excitement hit her as she thought about the rest of the afternoon.

  Zeke!

She was going to see him this afternoon! The excitement that hit her was so strong it nearly knocked her backwards. He’d told her to come over to his place after her exam, he’d make lunch. She almost skipped to her car, so excited about seeing him again. She was even wearing her special jeans in anticipation of seeing him. The salesperson had convinced her that these jeans made her butt look perfect and, glancing in the window of one of the other classrooms, Marcy had to agree with the woman.

Twenty minutes later, she was standing in the lobby of his building, her excitement overwhelmed by nervousness. She couldn’t even say that she was indecisive because Marcy knew exactly what she wanted today.
