The Diary of a Natural Girl in a Supernatural World Page 11

“You asked me a question, I gave you an answer.” He shrugged.

“This isn’t smart. Why can’t we just bomb their house or something?” Seth did not answer so I kept going. “You and I both know this isn’t going to end well.”

“I never actually said that he was spying on them.” He pointed out. I wanted to groan. Why was he being so difficult?

“Then what the hell were you saying?” I said rather loudly.

“I said that he was setting up.” Why did he insist on running me in circles?

“What does he have to set up anyways? We’re making a deal not selling her some stupid perfume or something.” He took a sip of his coffee. I have no idea how he is remaining so calm about this.

“You will find out later. He’s doing what I told him to and you should be doing the same.” I cringed a little. I did not want to get ready for this meeting… this deal or whatever.

“But that doesn’t mean I should…” I stopped, a thought occurring to me.

“It means it will work out perfectly.” Seth replied, rather sure of this plan despite my protests.

“Something doesn’t add up.” I said slowly.

“Everything else so far has not worked out in our favor. This is our best shot… It’s our last chance to get this right.” There was silence for a few moments as I got lost in thought.

Fortunately, that was the end of our conversation. Why fortunately? Because Seth’s here now as in at my door and I think he has a plan for this meeting. I hope he does, it would explain why we were leaving so early.

Chapter 23: I knew this was a bad idea

  Sept 30, 2012

  4:22am

Seth is gone and I don’t know what I am doing here. I shouldn’t have come back here but I didn’t know where else to go. Niklas is dead and there is no way he’s coming back.

Everything is going wrong and I don’t know how to stop it. The only thing I do know is that I can’t stop trying. If I don’t do something we’re talking the apocalypse. Unfortunately, I’m just one person now, just one girl.

Seth decided that being punctual was for losers and we would be super early to the meeting. I knew he had something planned but I didn’t know what but I was glad of it at in the end.

Somehow throughout all of this Niklas remained missing. I guessed he would show up just in the nick of time to save the day!

Seth’s usual place was in a park. The park I used to play at as a kid but it is all but abandoned now. I supposed it was because of the Supernaturals liked to hang out there so people tended to avoid it. I don’t blame them.

In the trees that surrounded the playground Seth lead me to a rather secluded place where he’d placed… What was that? A coffee machine? (My initial thoughts.)

“Uh, Seth what is that?” I asked him, slightly afraid for this plan. I didn’t know we’d be blowing everything up.

“I know I’m pretty awesome and I know that I can make this deal work out but I thought because you were so keen in contingencies before…” He gestured to the device.

“Contingencies? This is a little more than a backup plan. This is like a Die Hard plan.” I gestured wildly to it.

“I guess you better hope you don’t have to use it.” He teased but there was an undertone. There was always a freaking undertone with these people.

“Wait, what about you? Wouldn’t this like blow you up or something?” It was after all a bomb… What? I was making a joke about the coffee maker thing, so sue me.

“Don’t worry about me.” He gave me a strained smile.

“Ok…” So, he was being shady.

He walked be over to the play set which was about 30-40 ft away. Underneath the slide was another lovely device code name coffee machine.

“There are two of these things?!” I cried.

“Why would there only be one?” he gave me the look.

“I don’t know… because we’re blowing things up that really shouldn’t be blown up!” I cried.

“Don’t worry about it.” He smirked.

“AGH!” I cried. “You know what?! I’m not going to worry about it until I have to worry about it in which case I am going to run really fast.”

  “Good plan.” Seth replied.

I groaned annoyed at Seth. He could be so annoying sometimes. “Maybe we should just sit down and wait for what’s her face.”

“Too late.” Seth commented and nodded behind me. I turned to find the devil walking up.

“Are we ready to make a deal?” She walks up with that stupid smug expression on her face. That really annoyed me. Maybe that’s just because she was winning… kind of, if you count trying to enslave the human race winning.

“Speak of the devil.” I muttered.

“Let’s get down to business shall we?” She was suddenly right in front of us, ready to go.

“I think you know you have something we want.” Seth began.

I was too nervous to speak. So I fidgeted with my hands instead. This was stupid. I realize now that making a deal would never have gotten us anywhere but I guess it’s the thought that counts.

“And you have something I want. Where is my son? He is not here with you.” She gave me a funny look that made me squirm. “I will have take her abilities as a substitute.”

“Well, you’re not getting it.” I sneered and she raised an eyebrow at me.

“But we are willing to negotiate for Niklas.” Seth shrugged.

“Oh, is that so?” The look on her face was not what I was anticipating.

“Yes, we’ll give you back your son if you leave me alone me and my family.” Or at least what was left of it. It was way too simple but there was no way she would just halt her impending enslavement plan.

“Ha!” She laughed. “I need my son back…” She eluded.

“I think something can be arranged.” Seth said nonchalantly.

Where is Niklas? I asked Seth silently.

He’ll be here. He replied back without betraying the fact that he too, was slightly worried.

“And if you fail to follow through you and everyone you love will be sent to hell and tortured for all eternity.” My eyes widened slightly at Seth’s words.

“Oh, I won’t fail.” She shrugged as if it weren’t any big deal.

Something was wrong. If I wasn’t before, I was 100% suspicious of motives. One like her doesn’t just decide one day to stop perusing her goals.

“So, where is he? Where is my Niklas?” She asked us.

“He’ll be here.” Seth reassured us for what felt like the millionth time to me.

“He wasn’t here with you to begin with?” She was curious at this but Seth said nothing.

“Why do you need him back? Why now?” Seth was suspicious as well. I was glad that I was not alone in this but there was something different, he probably had a better idea than I did why he was suspicious.

“I don’t need her.” She gestured to me. “There is something I need from my son, however.” The way that she said was assured, maybe too self-assured.

Why wasn’t I better at figuring out plans? Who knows?

“Enough chatter. Are we going to make this deal or not?” Seth’s voice interrupted out banter.

“Of course.” She was far too pleased for my liking.

“As you know,” he began rolling the sleeve on his shirt “these sorts of deals are made differently.” I looked at him funny when he pulled a knife out of his pocket.

“Of course I know that.” She rolled her eyes at him.

“They also have different results. You will not be able to physically be near Dia or her family. You cannot think about her or speak of her.” He paused looking at her.

She nodded quickly. You know like one of those male recognition head nod.

“You must follow the terms. You are ours to command.” Seth replied.

“I’m no one’s to command.” She was offended at his words.

“Well, you’re Satan’s now.” He cut his arm
and let the blood flow freely.

I wasn’t really sure what happened next. He began speaking words I couldn’t understand which I assumed was his way of making a deal. She took the knife from him to cut her own arm. And the chanting rose. I started screaming for them to stop somewhere in the middle but they couldn’t hear me.

The next thing I knew Niklas was standing in front of her with a knife to his throat. Everything stopped. She said something in a language I couldn’t understand, Niklas started to spasm violently. He was on the ground convulsing not too long after. Blood was pouring out of his mouth and eyes. I had never seen anything like it. It was frightening

“No!” Seth shouted. I looked at her in shock.

“Niklas!” I yelled but didn’t move. “What the hell just happened?!” I trailed off. I mean I wasn’t really fond of the guy but he didn’t deserve that.

“She broke the deal.” Seth replied more calmly than I expected him to.

“She broke the deal?! How?” I cried.

“Niklas was only getting in my way. His feelings for you were a hindrance.” She gestured to me. “And I needed a sacrifice to get rid of him.” She smirked and gestured to Seth.

“We’re going to burn for this!” I’d never seen Seth so panicked in my life. He didn’t realize what was happening and I didn’t want to believe it.

“No, you’re going to burn for this.” She looked absolutely sinister as she said it.

The ground started shaking and I could hear Seth yelling but I couldn’t quite understand the words. There was an earth shattering crack… I guess you could say the earth did shatter in a manner of speaking as it opened up and literally swallowed Seth whole.

He disappeared and everything came back together. Everything was as it was but Seth was gone.

“WHAT DID YOU DO TO HIM?!” I yelled at Lorna, I was shaking. I could feel his sinister intentions mingling with the air. It was stifling.

“I sent him back to hell; where he belongs.” Lorna gave me this creepy smile.

“You deserve a place far worse than hell.” I seethed through my teeth. “And I will make sure I personally drag your ass down there.”

Lorna laughed, “Stupid girl. Do you not realize this is exactly what we wanted? The plan has worked out perfectly.”

  “You’re forgetting one thing.”

“And what would that be?” She chuckled at me.

“You don’t have me yet.” I pressed the detonator that Seth had given me blowing the bomb in the woods first.

“What the hell?” She asked vehemently.

“I’ll see you in hell.” I set off the second bomb, the plastic from the slide hitting Lorna and barely missing me. So I did the only thing I could think of.

  I ran and I didn’t look back.

  Chapter 24: I’M FREAKING OUT

  Sept 30, 2012

  7:13pm

The most awkward moment of my life was the moment I decided I needed information and that I needed to fill in the gaps. So I did what any normal person would do, I went out to go get it which actually turned out poorly for me.

I have horrible timing. Let me just say that right now before I actually tell you what happened.

I decided to go back to the source. I thought that because Niklas was now dead and couldn’t give me information and Seth was gone that it would be easier just to spy on her. I mean I really should have done it sooner but I am dumb and was scared and had too much to lose…

I guess Niklas’s parents decided to have a victory party for two… I caught them in the throes of passion… and had to read her mind while she did the deed. In hind sight it was the perfect opportunity because she was distracted but that fact does not by any means make it less gross.

And let me say, reading her mind was a little tricky. I attempted to bypass some of the more graphic thoughts and head straight for the memories. I found it in the place where she stored her plans and all of that hoopla.

The echoes of different memories were loud, almost as if she knew that someone would be trying to get into her head and therefore had defended it with clutter. But I managed to pick one out over the others.

She was talking to a man, not her husband, not Niklas but a man that I didn’t know. He was someone different someone I’d never seen before.

“The girl is not cooperating as I had hoped.” Lilly spoke to a man shrouded in darkness. If this wasn’t a memory I would be able to see him better.

“She is not essential to the plan.” He replied bluntly.

“But she is ideal?” Lilly asked him.

“She is. However, there are others like her. Other metahumans.” He seemed unconcerned.

“I’m sorry that I have not gotten her to you.”

“Finish you part and we can pretend it didn’t happen.” He waved her off.

“There is also the matter of the minion…” She trailed off. “I need to get rid of him.”

“I need him for the next phase of the plan. You will have to reset him. Send him back to where he came from.”

“And how is it that I do that?” Lilly asked.

“Seth isn’t what you think he is…” The man trailed off. “And I can tell you exactly how to make him disappear.”

The memory faded. And I slowly pulled myself out of her mind… and then accidentally got an eyeful. That sucks. I mean who wants to see someone’s parents doing it? Not me.

I promptly fell out of the tree. Fearing that I would get caught I took off running and didn’t stop till I got to the house. That was when a thought occurred to me…

It was Liam. The voice in her head was Liam! What was he doing there? Why was he talking to her? There was something very wrong, something that I would have to figure out. Ok, you know what. I don’t think I really wanted to know but I had to find out anyways. Because life sucks.

One thing was for sure at this point. I didn’t have to go to them. In all reality they would come to me sooner or later and claim my powers in whatever manner possible.

I decided to bide my time.

The thing about biding your time, waiting for them to come to you is that at every turn you’re anticipating it and when it doesn’t happen you’re surprised. It puts you on edge to say the least.

This is what I have feared. A window smashing… someone coming in and without a doubt is here to kill me… right?

Yes they most definitely are and I say that the window smash is just a distraction that they do it because they want me to go down there and investigate. But I won’t, no sir.

But wait a minute… There are teens outside. They’re making a ruckus as usual. It sounds like they threw the rock, and are also drunk.

  I’m going to check.

  Chapter 25: I’m a parkour kid… kinda

  October 13, 2012

  7:13pm

  So, I got kidnapped.

It was probably my fault that this happened. I mean going back to Seth’s place was probably one of the dumbest things that I could have done.

I woke up suspended from the ceiling, like legitimately hanging from a rope by my ankles. It was frightening to say the least and my vision was swimming. How I survived? Who knows…

“Oh my god!” I cried and squirmed causing myself to sway back and forth.

I grasped the air in attempt to grab on to something, anything that was obviously too far away.

“There is no way!” I growled at myself, angry at the predicament.

So I would have to find someone, search for their mind and make them cut me down because I sure as hell wasn’t going to be able to do it by myself. Fortunately for me there was a guard outside the door that I was able to… persuade to get me down.

He was fast. He cut me down and somehow I managed to land on my shoulder with a thud which was much more painful than I was anticipating but it was much better than landing on my head.

“Go to sleep.” I waved my hand lazily at the guard who passed out.

The world started spinning but I got up anyways
because I still had to save the human race from enslavement, hello!

So I walked out of what appeared to be some basement and up the stairs to some elaborate meeting hall. What was this, a castle? Why do bad guys like to be bad in castles?
