They have a wonderful relationship and were exclusive, but they have never discussed the future or getting married. Darrell wants to take the next step and make Josh his husband. But what if he says no? After all, Josh said no the first time Darrell asked him out. How can Darrell get Josh to say “Yes” and make it a night that Josh will never forget?
Paramedic, Josh Mitchel, loves his Daddy, Darrell, and wants to be with him forever. But tiny doubts have burrowed into his brain. Does Darrell wish to spend the rest of his life with Josh? Can Josh be a good husband? Can Josh get past his doubts and be brave enough to propose to his Daddy?

Capitalization of Endearments
Capitalization of Endearments: As authors, we understand the rules of the language used as a book are written. We also understand the rules that revolve around how names and endearments should be capitalized (and how editors HATE words being capitalized should not be).
However, due to past issues and triggers (child sexual abuse), we, as authors, need to create a definite separation and we will capitalize endearments like Daddy, Little, Boy, etc. Please note that we capitalize most endearments related to age play in all our books. You have been warned.

Chapter 1
Darrell
After a long week in the hospital, the weekend had finally arrived. A special weekend, because tonight, I’d make Josh truly mine. At least, that was the plan. After my shift ended, I made my way to the waiting room to wait for Jakob. Over the last few months, our little group of Daddies and Littles had gotten remarkably close, so when I dreamed of surprising Josh with a proposal, I enlisted Jakob and Des to help me pull it off. The ring was in my pocket and had been there for weeks, waiting for this special day. And what a special day it would be! While I wanted to shout it from the rooftops that I loved my Josh and wanted him to be my husband, my Boy deserved a more romantic proposal than that. And with the help of our friends, it would hopefully be the most terrific proposal ever.
While Jakob and Des would help me out, Sam had gotten the vital task to distract Josh and to make sure that he wouldn’t show up in the Rainbow Room before everything was ready. The whole evening was planned, and in my mind, it was perfect. I could only hope that everything turned out the way I’d planned it. Sighing, I took out the ring I’d gotten for Josh.
The wedding ring shined in the sun as I held it up and gazed at it. It was a custom band that I had specially made for Josh. Platinum, with the infinity symbol etched on it and a diamond in each of the circles. Everything, from the platinum to the diamond, represented our love. The infinity symbol had always represented the love between the two of us and how it would continue. Josh and I even got matching tattoos about a year ago or so. But when I went to look at rings, I’d wanted more than just a symbol. I wanted them to be perfect and to represent our love truly. So, I’d chosen platinum—one of the rarest and valuable materials in the world.
Because that was what Josh was to me. Valuable and rare, because how big were the chances to find your perfect partner? And I did. I found that one special person, and now I hoped to make him mine.
Josh and I had been together for years, and we were committed to each other, but not like this. We were a couple, a Daddy and his Boy, yes, but I wanted more. I wanted everyone to know that Josh was mine and for everyone to know that we were together. And there was only one way to achieve that—a commitment in front of our friends, a commitment that meant rings and signed papers.
I let my mind wander over the events that brought us to this point. We’d been a couple for so long that we were comfortable with each other. But seeing Jakob and Sam almost losing what they had, had changed something. It had made me realize how scared I was of losing Josh. I wasn’t naïve, this proposal would not stop life or accidents, but I hoped that it would show Josh what he meant to me. Whatever happened, I wanted him to know that he meant the world to me. That he was my world and my everything, and he always would be. No matter what happened.
Only a couple of days after we rescued Sam, I went out and got the rings, determined to make him genuinely mine, to show the world that we were more than just a couple. That we were a unit. Two parts of the same heart, beating as one. Okay, yeah, maybe that was a bit too much, even for me, but that was how I felt. Josh was not only my partner or my boyfriend or even my Little. He was my everything. And this ring would always remind him of that, even when I couldn’t be there to show him.
Beep. Beep.
The sound of a car horn pulled me out of my thoughts. Looking up, I saw Jakob pull up in front of the hospital. Ah. So, it was his job to pick me up and take me to the Rainbow Room, where we would get everything ready for tonight. Both Jakob and Des had been involved, but at some point, I had to trust them to know
what they were doing while I had been working in the hospital. Not that I doubted them. Yeah, well, maybe I did. A little. It was hard to have someone else in charge of a spectacular proposal. Putting the ring back into my pocket to keep it safe, I walked out to Jakob’s car and got in.
“Hey, Jakob. Thanks for picking me up and helping me with the party.”
“Anytime, Darrell. Sam and I were happy to help you both. I just hope Sam hasn’t spilled the beans.”
“Is he that bad at keeping secrets?” Closing the seatbelt, I sat back and looked over at Jakob, who smiled. Of course, he was smiling. Every one of us Daddies smiled like lunatics when we talked about our Boys.
“The problem is that he is an open book if you know him well enough. The moment he looks at you, you know that something is up. But I managed to give him some tips before he left to go keep Josh busy.”
That had me curious. “Ok, I need to hear this. What tips does a retired police officer give his Boy to prevent him from spilling a secret?”
“I just told Sam to change the subject if Josh starts to get wary or starts to ask questions, which he couldn’t answer without giving something away. Another thing was that Sam was worried about lying to Josh, so I told him to avoid any dangerous topics and if he had to answer anything, to stay as close to the truth as he can without revealing the secret. That way, he won’t feel bad, and he won’t be lying,” Jakob laughed.
“Ha, that’s a good idea.”
“Yeah, poor Sam. He felt so bad and was worried about lying to his best friend.”
“He’s a little worrywart, but he’s a sweet Boy.” Like Josh. Grinning, I looked over at Jakob. “We are a couple of lucky Daddies.”
“Yes, we are a couple of very lucky Daddies.” Jakob bumped my arm with his elbow and grinned.
Lucky for us, Des was recently able to purchase the empty lot behind his pub and turned it into a parking lot, and because it was quite early in the afternoon, it was empty. Jakob parked his car, and I followed him to the trunk to unpack what he brought. Over the last few days, I bought some decorations and brought it over to Jakob’s place without Josh noticing. Grabbing the bags, we turned around and walked up to the back door when it swung open.
“You guys are late,” Des teased as we walked up. “You could have at least called.”
“Sheesh, sorry, dad. My shift ran late at the hospital.” I rolled my eyes like Josh did whenever he thought I acted ridiculously, and Des slapped the back of my head.
“No eye-rolling at me, Doc. Now hurry up, young man, so we can finish getting this party set up.”
Looking at Jakob, we both broke out laughing. Des couldn’t help but act like such a Daddy. Even with us. He was just the perfect caregiver, and one day, hopefully soon, he would make a Boy very happy.
“Whatever you think about, stop it. We have a bar to decorate.” Jakob nudged me with his elbow to keep walking.
“I just thought that Des needs a Boy.”
“Why would I need a Boy? I have my hands full with you.” Des winked and opened the door widener to let us walk into the small hallway. “Now, let’s get to work, or you’ll have a bratty Josh at your hands.”
“And we all know that we don’t want a pouting, bratty Josh.” Jakob agreed with a grin. “So, let’s get this place ship-shape.”
“Aye, aye captain!” I mock saluted Jakob. They were both right. Josh was supposed to be the happiest man ever tonight, not the brattiest Little on the planet.
After a couple of hours, we had the bar in excellent shape with decorations hung all around, making the bar look like a tropical forest. An area looked like a small pool with fish and tropical flowers and a jungle area with ropes hanging from the ceiling. I sat down at a table to take a break and looked around. Josh would love it. He loved jungle themes, and he loved fishes even more. Chuckling, I remembered the days of begging and bothering me to get him some real fishes, after Sam had gotten that damn turtle. I held my ground for five days until I gave in and bought him an aquarium. Josh had been so happy. A look I wanted to see on his face tonight, too.
For a moment, I let my mind wander. It was like a lifetime ago when I met my Joshie. He was so sweet and had so many walls around his heart. But with patience and time, I got him to open up at me and look where we were now.
“Hey, Doc. Penny for your thoughts.”
“Oh, I was just thinking about when I first met Josh,” I chuckled and looked at Jakob, who sat down beside me and handed me a cup of coffee.
“Des, take a break and come over here. Darrell is going to tell us about when he met Josh.”
Des walked over with a tray of snacks. “It’s a good thing I got lunch ready so we can have a story while we eat.” Putting plates in front of us, Des set the tray aside, sat down, and looked at me expectantly. “Okay, let’s hear it.”
“Well, when I asked Josh out, he told me no.” I laughed at the look on their faces. They both blinked at me, looked at each other, and then looked at me again. I held my hands up, “No, it’s true. He flat out told me no.”
“Well, let’s hope he won’t tell you no tonight,” Jacob said before he winked at me. “You need to start from the beginning, Doc. How did you two meet? What happened? Come on. We need details.”
“You’re just as bad as our boys. Can’t wait to hear gossip or a story.”
“Hey, it’s not bad to want to hear a good story.” Jakob pointed his sandwich at me.
“Come on, Darrell. You’re stalling. Spit it out,” Des added.
“Ok. Ok. Well, it was three years ago when I first came to live here in New York.”
Josh
Daddy was working a double shift today, but he promised me that we were going on a double date with Jakob and Sam after he got off work. After all, it was my birthday, and he wanted to make it a memorable evening. To make sure that I wasn’t alone and don’t get bored while I waited, he told me that I should hang out with Sam for the day.
At first, I was disappointed because it was my birthday and wanted to spend it with my Daddy. Not that Sam wasn’t good company, he was my best friend after all. Then I realized that Sam would be the perfect person to help me with my mission. And I was on a mission. I wanted to know what Darrell was up to because he was up to something. That much I could tell.
I mean, we were together for years now, and I knew him well enough. He’d been closed off, worked weird hours in the hospital, and spent an awful lot of time with Jakob recently. Not that I didn’t have secrets of my own. I’ve been planning this evening for weeks now, and I was worried that whatever Darrell had planned would interfere with my proposal.
Seeing Sam clinging to his Daddy and the fear of losing him had touched something deep inside me. And it brought a wish to life I wasn’t even aware of. I wanted to make Darrell mine. Truly mine. Not only Daddy mine. With a ring and papers and all our friends to witness. Darrell was my boyfriend, partner, and Daddy for years now, and we never spoke about getting married. But witnessing what Sam and Jakob went through changed the way how I saw our relationship. And what would be a better time and place for a proposal than my birthday dinner?
Well, if Darrell’s surprise wasn’t getting in my way, that was. Putting a cup of hot chocolate in front of Sam, I sat down opposite him and bent forward to look him in the eye. If Sam knew something, he’d give it away in a heartbeat by just looking at him. “Sam, I think my Daddy is up to something.”
“What?” Sam's eyes widened, then he hastily took a drink before he cleared his throat. “What makes you say that?”
“Ha! I knew something was up. Come on, tell me. What is Darrell planning?”
“Your birthday dinner.” It came more than a question than an actual answer.
“Sam, let’s face it; you’re a bad liar. You couldn’t lie if your life depended on it.”
“I’m not lying. He’s planning your birthday dinner.” Sam puffed out his cheeks, and then he let out a deep breath. “Honestly, Josh.”
“But he
s up to something. I can tell. I mean, I know him long enough.”
“Right.” Sam glanced around our kitchen as if he was looking for help, then his head whipped back around, and he grinned at me. “Hey, you never told me how you two met.”
“At work. He asked me out, and I said no.”
“You did not!”
“I did.” Chuckling, I remembered that encounter for a second before I looked back at Sam. “I can’t believe I never told you that.”
“Me neither. So, tell me now.” Sam begged, and with a sigh, I sat back, forgetting about my mission for a moment.
“Okay. There was this awful accident a couple of years ago, and it was all hands on deck. It was a crazy mess. I heard rumors around the hospital that this new doctor started, and you know I had my fair share of crushes, but nothing ever came of anything. Maybe a date here and there but nothing too serious. But that day was so different.”
Looking at Sam, I saw him grinning while he drank his hot chocolate and relaxing. I smiled and started to tell him how I met my perfect Daddy.
Chapter 2
Darrell
Three years ago
Finally, I had all my stuff unpacked and put away and was feeling organized. The cross-country move I just finished was a killer, and I wouldn’t recommend it for the faint-hearted. But I made it, and everything turned out surprisingly well. As I sat on my couch, relaxing and taking a well-deserved break, I flipped through tv channels when a breaking story came in from the local news. There was a terrible accident between a semi-truck and several cars that created a massive pile up. There were casualties and dozens of injuries headed to the local hospitals. My new schedule did not start until the next week, but I felt it was my duty to go in. I knew from my life in San Francisco that this would tax all the hospitals in the area, and they would be short-staffed very quickly.
