SHOOTER: RED SIN MC

Page 9

by Alexa Rynn

“Okay,” she said, sounding exasperated. “So, if you don’t go back what will you do? Go and handle business in that little club or whatever that you’re a part of?” She said little club like she was talking about the fucking Girl Scouts or some shit.

I shook my head. “I don’t talk about anything having to do with my brothers.”

“Oh, God!” She shook her head. “You have so many damn rules! How does anyone keep up?” She grabbed her juice and took an angry sip out of it. “And another thing, that comment I made back there, about your name not being master? That was funny! It’s called a joke! The polite thing to do when someone tells a joke is to laugh or chuckle politely!”

I nodded. “That’s true, it was a joke, and it was somewhat amusing.”

  “Thank you!”

  “But I don’t laugh.”

“You DON’T laugh? You can’t control laughter! It’s natural and unavoidable. Like breathing!” Her eyes were really wide now, like they might snap back into her brain at any moment and she’d be left with just her pupils. “My gosh, I’ve only just met you and already I know you’re the most infuriating man in the world.”

I reached over and took a sip out of her juice. “How can you tell? I mean, have you met every single man in the world?” I made a sour face and handed her juice back to her. “Ugh, pulp? Nasty.”

I glanced out the window, I’d been so busy fighting with Faith that I had barely noticed we had taken off and were now flying through the air smoothly. I could hear Faith huffing and puffing next to me but if she thought I was going to give her attention, she was wrong. I knew all the tricks girls played; if she wanted to talk to me she could talk to me. I wasn’t going to cater to her.

A few minutes let I heard her start to snore and when I looked over a second after she was fast asleep, tired from her big ordeal. I tried to sleep too but I couldn’t, I was too worked up. I didn’t know what my fucking problem was I had just had rough sex a few hours ago but I was so damn tense.

When I couldn’t take it anymore I got up and went into the small bathroom and before I knew it I ended up beating my dick against the sink while I thought about Faith and her long legs. I could just imagine how good they would look wrapped around my stomach while I held her up by those thick hips and full ass rocking her back and forth on top of my dick.

God, I bet she had the kind of pussy I’d want to nut inside of, too.

The thought threw me into overdrive and I busted my white cum all over the sink in the bathroom. Fuck. I ran a bunch of cold water over it and tried to regain my composure. By the time I got back to my seat a middle-aged man was sitting in the seat Faith used to be in doing a crossword puzzle and she was sleeping soundly a few rows back from me.

I guess she’d found someone to switch with her after all.

Good, I didn’t want to see her face anyway.

I couldn’t stand her so it was bizarre that she turned me on.

As soon as the plane landed she took off out the door, not giving me another look. Jeez, I guess she really wanted to get off to her Easter festivities. I shook my head; she was clearly a nutcase.

I looked through my messages as I waited by the bagging claim for my luggage. A few woman who had heard I’d be back in town and wanted to hang out, some guys from combat wishing me a good holiday, and a lot of messages from my brothers. I still had a drive back to Red Sin territory but the worst of it was over. I slipped my phone into my back pocket and grabbed my luggage, heading out front where the car was that Cutter had sent for me.

I scanned the sidewalk and spotted the black SUV in a row on the other side of the sidewalk. I had almost reached it when someone smacked into my chest and jolted me backward. I spun around and came face to face with a gun pointed at my stomach.

“Don’t move,” the guy in front of my hissed. “Don’t move an inch.”

I let my eyes travel up his body and land on his eyes.

  Drizzle Dupuis.

There had been a shoot out the week before I left for my last tour, a shootout that had ended with several of my brothers and his killed. But I knew he was here with one in particular in mind, his cousin, Drew. It had been my bullet that caused his last breath to be drawn.

I had known that I had to watch my back when I got back.

What I hadn’t known was that he would show up at the airport.

“I’ve waited 149 days for this moment,” he told me, looking at me like I was the scum of the earth. “149 days to look you in the eye and tell you what you took from me.”

A few people who were nearby nudged into the back of him causing the gun to press into the side of my stomach even harder. Drizzle glanced in the back of him and then gestured toward a white car next to us. “Get in the car, Blade.”

Of course, he didn’t want to kill me here.

  Too many witnesses.

Plus, that would be too quick. He wanted to drag it out, make me suffer.

But I wasn’t an idiot, I knew the second I got into that car my life would be over. I would be outnumbered within seconds, taken to a fate worth than death. “We both know I can’t do that, Drizzle.”

“I was afraid you’d say that,” he told me. “As fate would have it, there happens to be a car outside of your mother’s house right now. A car filled with a bunch of my very angry men and if you don’t get in this fucking car right now then I’m going to make sure she pays for your sins in the worst way possible.” He looked me right in the eye without blinking once.

It always amazed me how good people were at lying; like it was nothing to look you right in the eye and talk out of their ass. That’s exactly what Drizzle was doing right then. It was a bluff, a big one; because I didn’t have a mother. Not one that I could locate anywhere anyway. He was holding on to anything he could, counting on the fact that I would be stupid enough to fall for it.

  I wasn’t.

Instead, I stuck my hand in the barrel of the gun and ripped it out of his hand in one motion. He was an idiot, I’d spent months bulking up and working out every fucking day. I was, at least, three times stronger than him. My hand was around his throat in about two seconds, unlike him, I didn’t give a fuck if people were looking at me or not.

A woman next to me let out a loud shriek and I pushed past her, shoving Drizzle up against the glass. “Who the fuck do you think you are? Coming here and trying to threaten me?”

“Blade! Blade!” A pair of small hands wrapped around my stomach, trying to pull me backward. “You don’t have to do this! You’re better than this!” She pushed her body between Drizzle and me, making her face less than a fraction away from mine.

  It was fucking Faith.

Couldn’t she mind her own business for one damn second?

“I’m calling the police!” Someone shirked next to us.

Faith’s eyes grew wide and she placed her hands on top of my shoulders. “Blade, she’s going to call the cops. You need to go, you need to go now.” She shook her head. “I’m not going to let you do this, I’m not going to let you go to jail for the rest of your life.”

A circle of people had formed around the three of us. A few of them were recording with their cell phones. As much as I hated to admit it, she was right, I could kill Drizzle if I wanted to but this wasn’t the time or place.

I sighed and backed away from him, releasing his neck from my hands.

Relief washed over Faith’s face. “Good, good job, Blade.”

I rolled my eyes and grunted. I didn’t need her talking to me like I was some insane person who needed to be talked down from his rage issues. That prick had come at my first. I was allowed to kill him if it meant defending myself.

Or it meant it was deserved.

Faith burned her eyes into me, worry across her features.

And then she was being yanked backward into Drizzle’s arms, a gun pointed at her temple that he’d produced out of nowhere. He wrapped one of his arms around her neck and tugged tightly. “Nobody fucking moves o
r I swear to God I’ll shoot her!”

Everyone started screaming and running for cover.

I took a step toward him but he shook the gun against Faith harder. “I swear to you, I will shoot her right here in the middle of the sidewalk, as far as I’m concerned I have nothing else to lose.” Drizzle started to back away from me, Faith under his grip as he neared the white car he had wanted me to get inside of moments before.

“We can work something out, Drizzle.” I inched after him. “It’s me you want, not her, let her go. She’s got nothing to do with this.” I pointed at my chest. “This is between me and you.”

“No it’s not!” he screamed, sounding irrational. “It’s about everyone! This is beyond that now, you bitch!” The door to the white car popped open and for the first time, I realized he wasn’t alone. Two of his brothers were in the car, waiting.

  Fuck.

Drizzle backed into the backseat, pulling Faith with him. “Say goodbye to your girlfriend! Now you’ll know what it feels like to lose someone that you love!” And then he slammed the car door shut and they zoomed off.

“Here comes security!” A man called out.

“I have 911 on the line!” Another woman chimed out.

What the hell was the matter with these people? That was great, security had shown up twenty minutes too late and the cops were on the other side of the city. They were going to ask a bunch of questions and file a bunch of reports. None of which would help get Faith back or keep her safe. I pushed past all of them, jumped inside the SUV waiting for me and took off after them.

If Drizzle wanted to play, we would play.

  Chapter Four

  FAITH

The car was moving so fast that I felt like I was going to fall out of the door at any second. Stupid girl, Faith, very stupid girl. Why hadn’t I just kept on walking? Why did I have to go over there and try to save the big bad wolf from his own demons? I should have let him go on about his business! If he wanted to go to jail just so he could have the temporary thrill of causing someone bodily harm that was his own decision!

The man who took me tossed me into the other side of the door like I was a piece of garbage he had gotten stuck with. “Great! What the fuck am I supposed to do with you now?” He glanced around the car. “I just got this car detailed, it’s not like I can kill you right here and now.”

The guy driving switched lanes way too fast and I slammed my head into the front of the seat. “Why the hell did we take her?” He peered at me through the mirror. “She looks a mess.”

The man groaned. “I don’t know! She was just there! I couldn’t get back into the car empty handed! Maybe it’s better if I keep her alive a while anyway, we can take pictures and mail them to him for fun.”

Pictures! What the hell kind of men did Blade hang around with? And I did not look a mess! I smoothed my hair down, besides I had just traveled all day long. “Look, sir, you really don’t have to do this. There’s been some confusion; I’m not that man’s girlfriend! I’ve only just met him today. So, you see, taking me was just one big mistake, I’m really of no use to you. So, if you could just pull over at the next gas station or wherever and let me out then we can just forget about this whole big misunderstanding and go our separate ways.”

“He’s not even her girlfriend?” The man sitting in the passenger seat shouted. “Great, now we have even less of a reason to keep her alive!” He pulled a gun out from underneath his seat and turned around, pointing it at my head. “Sorry, boss, I’ll make sure your car gets cleaned once we’re back home.”

I closed my eyes tight and then screamed as loud as I could.

A second later I felt a heavy impact from the back of the unit and the car started flipping through the air. The sound of metal scraping the concentrate and the sound of sparks filled my ears and then everything went black.

I must have passed out because the next thing I knew I was opening my eyes slowly and trying to adjust to the light. It took me a second to realize that I was moving up and down, my surroundings came into focus and I could see my legs bouncing up and down in front of me. I squinted upward and there he was. Blade. He carried me through a row of trees and up a large landing, looking between what was in front of him and down at my face the entire time.

It took a few seconds for my hearing to come back fully. For a minute, all I could see was him and the trees and smoke we were walking away from. I felt like I was watching a movie play out around me that was on mute. When my ears snapped back on, it was all at once, too fast and hard.

I shoved my hands over my ears in pain, wanting the loudness to stop.

“Faith! Faith!” Blade howled down at me, shaking my body back and forth.

I snapped my eyes open. “What? What? WHAT?”

  "Are you okay?"

"I would be if you stopped yelling!"

He shook his head and set me down on the sidewalk, keeping his strong hands on my body to steady me. “I know this is really hard and that it makes no sense to you but I need you to listen to me right now, okay? I’m thousands of miles away from my territory, I’m wanted by a lot of very dangerous people, and I’m extremely outnumbered. So, if you want to stay alive, I’m going to need you to do exactly what I tell you to. Do you understand me?”

My head was pounding and I felt like my arm had turned limp. I reached up and felt blood gushing out of the top of my head. “Blade…” I pulled my hand down and looked at the blood on my fingers with wide eyes.

“I know, I know.” He took my hand in his, not caring about the blood that was getting on him. “It looks worse than it really is. Just… trust me. I need you to trust me, Faith, can you do that for me?”

I searched his eyes; they were so intense and real, pleading with me. And I didn’t know why but I did trust him. I had no reason to; he was the reason I was in this whole mess to begin with. He was dangerous and impulsive but I wanted to be on his side, somehow it felt like the right side.

“I can do that,” I paused. “I can trust you.” I glanced down at his hand and tried to ignore the butterflies that were flying around the inside of my stomach. Even under the intense amount of stress I was feeling, I could still feel them. “I just… can you make sure I’m home in time for Easter dinner?”

He actually smiled. “I’ll do my best.”

He let go of me. “Can you walk?”

My body instantly felt colder without his touch. “I think so.” I took a few steps forward to prove my point and waddled after him ungracefully. My legs felt like a big pile of jelly.

“Good, come on.” He started over toward the main road that he had just run us off of. There were skid marks everywhere, smoke flying up from the wreckage of the two cars that had slid off the road. It amazed me Blade had next to no physical damage anywhere on his body.

I moved after him slowly. He really needed to stop touching me then just pulling away so suddenly. I mean how was a woman to adjust? Especially, when she had a head injury?

“Those men will be up here soon, looking for us.” He looked up and down the road. “Not to mention someone passed by and probably called the cops by now.” He spotted a car coming down the road and started to walk toward it.

“That’s good, isn’t it? The cops will help us!” I called after him.

“The cops don’t help you,” he snarled. “They arrest you. We need to get out of here before they arrive.” He lunged into the middle of the street and started waving his hands back and forth in the air.

The car slammed on its breaks and slowed to a stop.

Oh, good, he was going to get us some help.

But when the woman stopped Blade yanked her car door open and flashed a gun before her face. “Out of the car,” he screamed at her. “Out of the car now!” He waved the gun back and forth in front of her, threatening to use it.

“Blade!” I gasped, running as best I could toward him. “What are you doing?”

The woman got out of the car instantly, begging for her li
fe.

Blade took a handful of money out of his pocket and handed it to her. “Here, sorry for the trouble, I’ll get it back to you as soon as I can.” He threw his suitcase in the backseat and jumped inside. “Faith, get in, now. Unless you want to stay here and die,” he called.

I hadn’t even noticed he had his suitcase until now. God, he had carried me like I was as light as a feather and his suitcase at the same time? He really was the strongest man I’d ever seen in my life. I jumped at the sound of the horn, startled. Blade was looking at me, waiting expectantly.

Ah, screw it. I dodged toward the car and jumped into the passenger seat.

“I’m so sorry!” I called to the woman as we zoomed away.

“She’ll be fine,” Blade said, looking in the review mirror. “I wish I could say the same for you.” He dug into his pocket and pulled out his phone. “What is the matter with you? Did you learn nothing from what happened today? You should have never got involved in what I was doing back there!”

  He was furious.

“I thought you were going to be nice!” I gasped.

“Oh, please, if I didn’t play nice you wouldn’t have come with me.” He started tapping away on his phone. “You’re just lucky that I was in a good mood today and I decided to come after you or you’d be swimming with the fishes right now.”

“Oh, wow, thanks! What do you want a medal?”

He shook his head. “No thanks, I have some of those.”

  Ugh, of course, he did.

He pulled his phone to his ear. “Blaze, I need Cutter and I need him now. I’m in trouble.” He glanced at me. “And the worst kind.” There was silence for a few moments and then a loud voice started to bark through the other side of the receiver.

“Cutter,” Blade said, hitting the speaker button and throwing his phone into my lap so he could concentrate on the road ahead of us “Drizzle was waiting for me when I got off the plane, he tried to make me leave with him. I got away but then he took a hostage so I had to run him off the road.” He glanced at me. “I got who he took and stole a car… now we’re on the run.”
