Vesta Burning Page 25

by M. D. Cooper

Crash said. He plucked another strawberry.

  Crash said.

Crash made a grumbling sound over the Link.

Ngoba gently scratched the side of Crash’s head and Crash leaned into his finger.

They went back to the window and watched activity on the docks for a few more minutes. There had been an influx of Terran Space Force craft lodging in dry dock for refits and upgrades. At first glance, it wouldn’t appear out of the ordinary. Knowing that every dry dock in Sol was filled, or soon to be filled, meant the Sol Alliance Forces were preparing for war. After Vesta, everyone seemed to agree on the inevitability.

  Crash said.

  Ngoba shrugged.

Crash blinked and bobbed his head.

Ngoba spread his hands like displaying a sign.

  Crash said.

Ngoba pulled his head back to look at Crash. he asked.

Crash blinked, his gold eyes glowing.

  he said.

  ABOUT THE AUTHORS

James S. Aaron lives in Oregon with too many chickens, a Corgi and two irascible cats. He kicked around the world in the U.S. Army for a while, and always had a paperback in one of his cargo pockets.

Since he still has a day job, James spends his free time writing, hammering, soldering, gardening, biking, and listening to audiobooks during most the above.

You can sign up for his science fiction newsletter at http://jamesaaron.net/list

Michael Cooper likes to think of himself as a jack-of-all-trades (and hopes to become master of a few). When not writing, he can be found writing software, working in his shop at his latest carpentry project, or likely reading a book.

He shares his home with a precocious young girl, his wonderful wife (who also writes), two cats, a never-ending list of things he would like to build, and ideas…
