Follow Me Down Page 36

by Sherri Smith

Lucas was back at Westfield. When I asked him how he could go back there after the way he’d been treated, he shrugged and said it was the only thing since playing hockey that he felt he was supposed to be doing. I believed him.

Mimi showed in the window. She gave us a queen’s wave, while a glow of red and green and blue blinked on and off around her. We waved back.

  ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

Thank you to my amazing, talented, incredibly intelligent agent, Beth Phelan, who knows exactly what needs to be done every step of the way. I don’t know what I’d do without you!

Thank you to my remarkable, articulate, and wise editor, Amy Stapp, for her razor-sharp eye and for having all the answers on how to make it better. You are a dream to work with!

I also want to extend my gratitude to everyone at Forge for all of your hard work and dedication.

Thank you, Sherry Graham, for being the fastest reader in the west and for catching that someone really shouldn’t take their lunch with them into the bathroom.

As well, thanks to my generous neighbor Stacey Hauser for being an early reader, and for all the backyard fires.

I am also so appreciative to Krista Nicholson and Jenna Harrison (aunties extraordinaire) for their babysitting services so I had more time to write. Cheers to the wonderful, caring staff at my Safeway Pharmacy for answering all of my sketchy questions.

Thanks to all my family and friends for chatting up my books to anyone who will listen.

There is not enough space here (or anywhere) to thank you, Tara. In case you don’t already know, you are selfless and brilliant and the best thing that has ever happened to me.

Incalculable love to my daughter, Rowan, the other best thing that has ever happened to me. You are the light of my life!
