Romance: Seducing The Quarterback Page 43

“This is a pleasant surprise this morning.” He kissed along her neck softly.

She knew if he kept going then she wouldn’t be able to ask him. She needed to find a way to make him stop without him thinking that she didn’t want it to.

“Who is Desiree?” The words blurted from her mouth and he stopped immediately. His head lifted back up to gaze into her eyes. When he saw nothing but curiosity there he sighed.

“Come. I think we should sit down for this.” He led her to the couch in the living room and sat down with her. His hands still held hers like he was scared of not having some kind of contact with her.

“I knew this would come around, but I didn’t expect it to be so early on. I wanted to tell you I just wanted to wait until the time was right. Desiree was my wife.”

“Why are people worried I am like her. Who is she?”

“Let me start from the beginning. Before I was alpha I traveled to the human population quite often. On one of these trips, I fell for a woman. Her name was Desiree. I had never told anyone of my secret, but she knew. That should have been my first clue, but I did not think. I asked her to be my wife and come home to my village with me. She agreed. I was the happiest man alive. You see every alpha before me has had to send the women to look for his mate and some have mated within the village. I thought I was special. Here, I had found my wife on my own. Chosen her for me.”

  “Ok...” She looked downward.

His hand lifted her chin. “DO not think that I do not want you, Emily. I should have shown it by now. My mother is a very good way of knowing someone’s character and she has chosen well for me. I did not for I found out after Desiree became my wife that she was not what she seemed. She was a sorceress sent here to take over the throne. She wanted something with my father’s blood. The current alpha. She killed him. I found her over his body and about to kill my mother.”

  “Oh, my gosh. How horrible!”

He turned sad eyes to her. “You have to understand that family is everything to me. I saw what she was about to do and did the only thing I could. I had to save my mother and stop whatever she was trying to do. There was electricity swirling everywhere around them.”

“What did you do?” Emily’s eyes were wide with fright.

“I threw my father’s spear from the wall. It pierced her heart instantly.”

Emily stared at him for a few minutes before wrapping her arms around him. “You saved your mother. That is what anyone would do.”

“I didn’t mean to kill her. I think I cared about her a lot. I don’t think however that I was in love with her. After her death, I realized that I was in love with the notion of her.”

  “And what of now?”

“I think my mother is right. I need to have a real wife. One that wants me for me to make me feel whole again. I need you, Emily.”

“How about we start with a date tonight? Maybe watch movies or something?”

“I would like that. A lot. You have to make your decision before too long and I want you to know me before you do.”

“Yes. And no more hanky panky until the wedding night if there is to be one.”

She laughed at his deep sigh as his gaze wandered down her body appreciatively. For the first time, he made her feel desirable and she could have kissed him for it but knew it would quickly lead to other things so didn’t.

That night was beautiful and she had fun like she had never had before and laughed until her sides hurt. Jeremiah was amazing and doted on her every wish. She worried, though. What would happen after they married? Would he be the same sweet guy that he was now or would he turn like Scott had? She didn’t know and knew she was safer if she guarded her heart against him forever. The problem was over the next few weeks she got to know him and his people. She enjoyed her time in the camp and spent time playing with the kids and planting in the huge garden they all ate from.

  Chapter 8

Finally, the day came when she had to make a decision. Her insides turned as she looked at Maggie.

“Come my dear. Let us walk. I would talk to you.”

She followed the woman to a stone bench in the yard. As they sat there Maggie started to talk.

“I want to tell you a story. Once long ago there was this woman. She had been in a tornado in Oklahoma. You see the girl was, but 16 and her father had pushed her into a storm cellar right before the tornado had taken him away. Her mother had died from cancer when she was but 5. The girl was terrified as she heard the soaring of the wind outside and it had taken everything she had to lock the door to the cellar. She sat huddled in the corner of that dark place rocking as the tears of sorrow fell from her eyes. She was now alone. She ended up marrying her boyfriend at the time. He was good to her and they started a life together in her parent’s home. After they were married, however, he changed. He became abusive. In every way possible.”

She looked over at Emily. Both women had tears in their eyes. Emily could relate to the story.

“One day she was walking to the grocery store when a woman came upon her and gave her a ride. They became fast friends. This woman in the car was named Jean-Marie. Now Jean told the younger girl about a place that was deep in the mountains where no one would ever find her. She helped the young girl file for a divorce from the bully boyfriend. They were able to trick him into signing it one night when he was drunk. Jean Marie told the woman that she would be married again but to a man who was gentle and kind. Well, the young woman didn’t want anything to do with men. Not after Jacob her ex but she knew it was the only way away from her small town. If she could use the fare to get away then she could run from this new man and possibly get away.”

Maggie kept the grin from her face as Emily’s eyes widened.

“It didn’t work out that way. She met the man and soon found herself in love with him. He wasn’t like any man she had ever known and she gave her life to making him happy just as he gave his to make her happy.”

“Do you know this woman? I mean is she here still. Could she tell me it’s ok or answer any questions for me?” Emily felt better knowing there was another woman who had come that was in the same situation as her.

Maggie reached over and patted her hand. “You can ask me anything you would like to dear.”

Emily’s eyes widened as she gasped. “You mean the woman was you?”

“Yes. That was the old me. Jean Marie is my mother in law. You see my dear you have to let go of the past and let it be that. The past. In order to move forward you have to open your heart. Do you care for Jeremiah?”

  “Yes.”

  “Then will you stay?”

  “Yes.”

“I am so happy for you dear! I guarantee you will not be disappointed. I promise you. Go on now to your husband.”

Maggie watched as the young woman who reminded her so much of herself went in search of her new husband, her new life.

Emily found Jeremiah in the house cutting up vegetables. He turned when he saw her and smiled. She made her way to him and grabbed his head down to kiss him deeply.

  “I’ve made my decision.”

  “Ok?”

“I want to stay. I wasn’t to stay with you. Will you have me?”

“Oh thank god. Yes, I will have you and never let you go. I have waited for you my whole life."

His lips dropped to hers as he kissed her again before lifting her to carry her down the hall. Pushing his foot out, he quickly opened then shut the door to the large bedroom in the back. He had spent numerous nights laying in that bed imagining her under him. He had thought of nothing else but making her his, and becoming one. “I want you.”

“I want you too. Please just make me yours.” Their clothes were instantly shed from their bodies with sounds of ripping from his impatience. She giggled as he grunted and then she was lying on her back on the bed and looking up at him. His hands were gentle as they glided up her sides to cup both breasts at once. His fingers tweaked her nipples ca
using her to moan loudly at the feeling. She ran her fingers through his hair bringing him closer to kiss him again before he pulled back. He slowly kissed her neck and shoulders until making his way slowly down to lick a nipple before sucking it into his mouth. His hand coasted over her stomach to come to rest between her legs where he stroked her softly before sliding a finger inside her. Over and over he moved the finger in and out of her marveling at the small little sounds she made while he did it.

Emily’s whole body was on fire from his touch. She had never felt so amazing. Never had she felt so cherished and loved. She knew this was only the beginning. She looked up into his dark eyes. They were intense and filled with longing as he eased between her legs. Slowly she felt him slip inside her. He went slowly and tenderly making sure she got accustomed to him. The last thing he wanted to do was hurt her with his size especially their first time. He began to move slowly and she met each of his thrusts with her own until they were bucking against each other in a wild frenzy, both searching for their orgasm. When it finally hit her she yelled with the ecstasy that washed over her body. She felt herself falling and over and over the sensations caused shivers up and down her body until exhausted she collapsed back on the bed. Jeremiah followed her and laid on his side. Although he didn’t make any move to go another round, his hands never left her body as they slowly caressed her with care. It was like he couldn’t physically stop touching her as he lay there. They sat quietly for some time before he spoke.

  “Thank you.”

She looked over at him with a grin. “For what?”

“I know you think that we saved you but really you saved me.”

  “And how is that?”

“Because I had lost a part of me a long time ago and never seemed to find it until I met you.”

  “And what was that?”

  “My heart.”

“No my dear I don’t think I found yours but instead I gave you mine.”

He pulled her close and kissed her softly before they both snuggled together and fell asleep in each other’s arms for the first of many nights together.

  Chapter 1

The temperatures in Novosibirsk, Siberia could reach well below freezing during the spring. The area is well known for its snow, but it is also the largest growing city in the world, which meant serious opportunity for Anya.

She looked in the mirror to be sure her long, golden blond hair fell perfectly over her shoulders. She grabbed her muff and white fur lined jacket then made her way down the lift of her sixth story apartment.

She didn't know what was going to happen tonight, but she had high hopes. The sky was biting her face like frozen daggers, but a fire burned inside of her when she thought of Ivan. They'd been corresponding online now for more than six months. He was a brunette god with the perfect hairy body. He curled his upper lip at the side just a bit when he talked. His rounded features were an amazing contrast to his rough personality and his sexy, deep voice.

When they first spoke, they clicked right away. He had a way of making her feel beautiful and treasured. He was so romantic. He used to send her flowers and chocolates. Once he even sent her a three-foot-high teddy bear holding a heart. She kept it in her living room on her couch.

She was shivering with excitement. She'd been waiting for this day for a long time, but she was anxious. He'd never met her in person. Anya was a beautiful woman. She had rounded features and a large chest. Her butt stuck out perfectly, but men didn't really like her. She wasn't big, she was just a little curvy. There was nothing wrong with that and she was still confident, but there was a lot of competition and men usually passed her up. There were a lot more women than men in her area of the world.

They didn't seem to appreciate somebody like her. They wanted somebody with a skinny body and unrealistic proportions. She was a real woman. She knew how to cook and how to sew. She wasn't demanding. She wanted her man to be happy and she would love him unconditionally.

At the same time, she needed to be treasured. This was a man's country overrun by women. Alcohol flowed just like water. It rained vodka. She'd been through it all and it had hardened her. She knew what she wanted and she knew what she would never handle again. She felt down her leg where the bruise had been and she shuddered. It had faded years ago, but that image of abuse was still inside of her. No man would ever lay a hand on her again and live to see the next day.

Ivan was different. He used to call her his jewel. Every single day he would be with her in spirit at the keyboard, telling her about his life, and asking about hers. He was genuinely interested. He loved her, even though they'd never met.

Things had to be perfect. She checked her lipstick in the restaurant window and walked into the pristine lobby where she sat on a green leather bench and waited for the server. To her right was an orchid arrangement in a blue and white blown glass vase. This was not the kind of restaurant you simply went for lunch. Ivan told her he wanted to take her somewhere that would do her justice, and she was starting to feel overwhelmed. What if he didn't like her when he saw her? What if he laughed and walked away?

Anya tried not to think about what could happen. She simply focused on what it would take to make things go right. A couture brunette in a minimalistic white dress and a short bob walked up. Her heels were clicking almost as fast as Anya's heart. He would love her. She knew this man. He already loved her.

  “Hello, for one?”

“For two.” The woman looked at her skeptically, but turned around to show her to her table. Her brisk stride was a slap in the face. It heightened Anya's anxiety and she could feel herself sweating. He would love her.

She sat down and the woman went to go get the waitress. She seemed like she wanted to speed things along.

A young blond in the same white dress came up and asked, “Are you ready to order?”

“I think I'll wait until my date gets here.”

“Great.” She had a mocking tone to her voice.

Fashion is a huge part of Eastern European culture. It not only defines the cultural norm, but it defines the way of life. People don't simply walk out of their houses in a shirt and jeans, so Anya had to deal with a serious stigma from both men and women. That stigma was bearing down on her. She didn't have much chance in this place for love, and Ivan meant a lot to her. If these women were looking at her like this, what would Ivan think?

She tried not to think about it. She was starving. She'd been trying to lose weight for the past month. She was smart enough to avoid bad diets and drugs. She knew how to eat well, and she was doing pretty good. She'd cut out bread and r
ed meat. She was staying away from sugar and oils. She'd lost almost five pounds, but the menu was tempting. There was a shrimp dish with a cream sauce that sounded particularly good, but she knew she'd probably just stick with the chicken and squash.

After about fifteen minutes, the waitress started to get a little nervous. Anya could see her looking over at her every time she got a chance. She'd go by her table a little too much, then she finally walked over.

“You sure you don't want to order yet?”

“I'm sure. It's rude. He'll be here soon.”

“OK.” She could barely keep her fake smile going.

Anya pulled out her phone and checked to see if there were any missed calls or texts. Ivan said he would call if he was running late, and it had only been about 20 minutes. Anya herself was a little late. Maybe she'd missed him. He said he'd call when he got to the restaurant, though.

She looked around. Maybe he was walking into the lobby. He wasn't there.

Five minutes later, the waitress walked over with a sympathetic look on her face that warranted assault.

“I'm so sorry, miss. Are you sure that you aren't ready to order?”

“Yes. I'm sure. It hasn't even been that long.”

“Well, we'll give it a little more time I guess.”

As the waitress walked away, Anya thought she saw a brunette man walk out of the lobby. She turned back and he was gone. It couldn't have been him. He would've called. She decided to wait a little longer. Once it had been 40 minutes, the waitress walked up again and she had an assertive air about her.

  “Ma'am I—

“I'll have a glass of Merlot and the shrimp dish and I don't want to see you for at least forty minutes.” The model scoffed and ran to the kitchen to make sure the staff spit in her food.
