Laird Wolf Page 14

by Vivian Arend

Damon looked over the gardens and the crew of people working for them to keep the manor running. Glenn caught him watching and dipped his head, slipping into position to unobtrusively guard the ladies as they headed into the labyrinth.

Damon was no longer a lone wolf. He’d found his mate, and in the months that followed, he’d found people to care for. People who cared for him and Addie. Their pack was exactly what Addie had predicted. Lone wolves, foxes, solitary bears, and a few Highland Tigers, although most definitely not the Sterling-Wyldes.

They sat on one of the balconies later that night, Grandmam Susanna’s delicious dinner settling in their stomachs, Addie curled up in his lap.

A vintage bottle of whisky sat beside his elbow ready to be shared with their friends when they joined them in a few minutes.

“Did you ever think this is the turn your life would take?” Addie whispered against his cheek, her love an eternal kiss against his heart.

  “Never.” And yet…

Below them on the wide expanse of lawn, a wolf shifter charged, rolling into a bear who’d just emerging from the trees, knocking the big creature to the ground. Damon laughed softly, thinking of his friendship with Jim. How it had seemed so out of place to many people, but turned out so right.

“Never, and yet this is right where I belong.” He tilted her head back and stared into her big beautiful eyes. “With you. My mate.”

  Our mate, his wolf insisted.

  Addie laughed.

I hope you enjoyed Damon & Addie’s story. Next book in the series is A LADY'S HEART.

  About the Author

Vivian Arend has been around North America, through parts of Europe, and into Central and South America, often with no running water. When challenged to write a book, she gave it a shot, and discovered creating worlds to play in was nearly as addictive as traveling the real one.

Now a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of both contemporary and paranormal stories, Vivian continues to explore, write and otherwise keep herself well entertained.
