We Are Blood and Thunder Page 34

4.What genre of books do you like to read? Have you any favourite authors?

Because I work in children’s books, I have to work hard to find time to read outside work – so I am really picky about what I select! In terms of fantasy authors, I’m a huge fan of Brandon Sanderson, Joe Abercrombie, Sarah J. Maas and (of course) George R.R. Martin. I particularly love reading horror too, and a few of my favourite horror authors are Adam Nevill, Laura Purcell, Michelle Paver and Shirley Jackson.

5.What is your next book about?

My next book is set in the same world as We Are Blood and Thunder and it starts just after this story ends … but it’s not a sequel. Instead it follows different characters in a completely different part of the continent and it’s a stand-alone story. Expect more spells and magic, but also triplet mask-makers, puppetry and a setting loosely inspired by Sicily. If you wished you could have heard more about Mythris and the masked temple, this is the book for you …
