[The Shifters Committee 01.0] Time Shifters Page 72

by Rebecca Foxx

Fortunately for all involved, most of the guests had no idea what was going on nor had they witnessed the altercation. It had taken place so quickly that it was almost a blur.

After Donnie left, Victoria turned to Colten.

“What in the hell was that all about?” Her question sounded innocent enough, but he was still furious.

“Did you know that you had a damned vampire working for you?” His voice was low and gravelly; the question posed through gritted teeth.

Victoria fought against the urge to be offended but rather she found herself aroused by his sudden burst of testosterone.

“I had no idea, but he will be dealt with accordingly, Colten,” she whispered.

She placed her hand on his muscular arm and he seemed to calm down. When he looked into her eyes, his heart began to melt and his ire dissipated like a drop of ink in an ocean. He felt something special for her but he wasn’t experienced enough with the opposite sex to identify what it was.

“Are you feeling okay?” Victoria asked him with a sweet smile.

“I am now,” he responded, “Let’s go get a cup of coffee if you’re available.”

“I’ll make myself available,” she said.

Victoria turned and waved at her assistant manager and her public relations person to come to her. She then explained to them that they would need to hold things down while she was gone for a few hours.

Victoria looked at the much more relaxed face of Colten and asked him to lead the way. She followed him to his vehicle and soon, they were on their way to the coffee shop.

The whole trip there saw Colten pouring over two issues:

First, it was the feelings for Victoria that just seemed to pop up out of nowhere. Secondly, how was that vampire able to be out during the day and why?

He was determined to find the answers.

  Chapter 7 – Coffee Lessons

It was just after the big morning rush; the coffee house was virtually empty. Having their choice of seats, they chose seats closest to the back of the shop so they could have some element of privacy; or at least the appearance of privacy.

Coffees in hand they began with idle chit chat of no real meaning whatsoever and finally when there was a moment of awkward silence, Colten spoke.

“What do you know about vampires, Victoria?” He asked in a harmless, laid back manner so as to not reveal that he knew more than he portrayed.

“I’ve studied them a bit, Colten,” she said, “Why do you ask?”

“I need to know how in the hell Donnie the near-dead vampire was able to travel in the sunlight.” His statement was a question; delivered with a smile.

“What I understand is that there is really only one way for a vampire to be able to walk about during the day and it is, from what I have heard, extremely painful,” she answered.

  “Go on,” he demanded.

“Somewhere on the body is a tattoo that is set with silver and is invisible to the naked eye,” she said matter-of-factly.

“The process takes over two weeks and if the vampire survives the tattoo process, he or she can be out in the daylight as much as they want,” she concluded.

They sat in silence for a few seconds; pretending to be enjoying their coffee and nothing else. Both of them were wondering what the other was thinking, there was a dynamic tension that existed between them that was shrouded in mystery and curiosity.

Colten had gathered the information he needed for the second of his two questions, but there was still a little doubt in his mind. It was difficult to reconcile Victoria’s charm and beauty as someone who has studied vampires and had even gone so far as to hire at least one that he knew of.

“You are stunning, Victoria,” he blurted out.

She was shocked and surprised by his outburst of emotion and admiration because it didn’t coincide with the visage he presented.

“Thank you, Colten,” she said as she blushed, “That is very sweet of you to say.”

Colten smiled and started a new line of questioning about vampires. Part of him wanted to see whether or not she would be a good partner for hunting. The thought of the two of them hunting made him feel warm and comfortable inside.

“How many vampires have you run into?” Again, his question was abrupt.

Victoria looked up in the air, pretending not to be startled by the line of questioning, and she formulated an answer that did not include anything 200 years prior.

“I think it was about 10 years ago as I recall,” she said sipping her coffee, “It wasn’t a negative experience; it was just the sight of a vampire’s temper flaring.”

Colten questioned himself and wondered if he should pursue the line of questioning because though she didn’t look uncomfortable, something in the room had shifted.

“Were you frightened?” He thought turning the question to emotions rather than logistics would ease her mind a bit and he was right.

“A little, yes, but I realized pretty quickly that the flare up was nothing to fear but rather just a show of machismo; much like some of the fellows at my gym,” she said with a smile.

He chuckled slightly, sipped more coffee but continued.

“One more question and I will stop the interrogation; are you seeing anyone right now?”

She smiled and sighed and feigned disappointment.

“No, not seeing anyone at all, Colten,” she said as she shook her head, “It’s pretty pathetic, isn’t it?”

Colten couldn’t help but notice hint of cleavage she was showing and he felt a tingling in his loins once again. His head god dizzy and he literally swooned.

In his mind he panicked, fearful that he would lose consciousness and then be completely vulnerable.

She reached her hand across the table and grabbed his hand and with a frown asked him if he was going to be okay.

Her touch calmed him and brought the earth back on its axis and the wind blasting in his mind also calmed to a slight breeze and his heart fluttered. She could feel his pulse, she could hear his heartbeat, and she could smell his outburst of sexuality.

She too began to squirm in her seat, starting to feel her temperature rise. For vampires, it was rare that their temperature could fluctuate at all, and short of black magic, it required an emotional bond to make it happen.

They had only seen each other twice, so she ruled out the emotional connection and wondered if Donnie had delved into some magic.

“Let’s have dinner together tonight,” he suggested out of the blue.

“I can pick you up at 7pm and we will go and enjoy the evening and celebrate your business growth.”

She smiled and as tough as it was for her, she blushed slightly.

“It’s a date!” Her response was louder than she had anticipated and a few of the staff members began to applaud.

They then exchanged information and he took her back to the gym. When they arrived and she opened the door to leave, she reminded him that she would handle the Donnie situation.

He smiled and nodded, knowing full well that he had his own punishment in mind.

  Chapter 8 – Troublesome Trouble

When she walked through the doors, her employees all noticed her arrival. They had trained themselves to know when she was in the room and to give appropriate respect. They were well-compensated for their work and it seemed appropriate to show the boss that they appreciated her and they appreciated the environment.

The look on Victoria’s face was serious and she made a direct line to where Donnie was standing; his shoulders slumped in a passive manner and staring at his shoes.

“Come to my office,” she said to him and walked toward her office.

Donnie was terrified of her and he knew that he was about to receive the ass-chewing of a lifetime and admittedly, he knew he deserved it. He had been ripped into by her previously, and compared to other employers, she had a look in her eyes that hinted at something very dark and frightening could be unleashed.

  Once inside her off
ice, he closed the door behind him and turned toward her desk but before he could fully turn, she had him pinned against the wall; his feet three inches above the ground.

Her eyes were blazing, her fangs only slightly visible, and the veins in her arms were showing through her skin.

“You are an idiot, Donnie,” she said through clenched fangs.

“If it weren’t against the code, I would kill you right here and now and send you to your eternal torment.”

He tried to speak but couldn’t; she was choking him too tightly.

She released him and he fell to his knees; gasping for air and fighting the urge to duel with the much older, much more experienced Victoria.

“I’m not going to fire you because I know you would have nowhere else to go, but you’re going to suffer the consequences of your misguided ideas,” she hissed at him.

“You’re going home for the day and tomorrow, you’re on the locker rooms and bathrooms and I don’t even want hear a hint of you bitching, I’ll rip your head off myself.”

With a hard kick on his backside, Donnie went tumbling across the room. Slowly and cautiously he stood up and took the appropriate posture with Victoria. Two words escaped from his mouth:

  “Yes, ma’am.”

With that, he was out the door.

  Chapter 9 – Revelation

Donnie got into his car completely unaware that in the back seat lurked someone with an axe to grind and was adept at using an axe. Colten remained silent and hidden until they arrived at Donnie’s small rental home just outside of town. Colten let Donnie out of the vehicle and up to his door and that was when Colten struck.

Quickly and silently, Colten used his silver choke wire to wrap around Donnie’s neck. He pulled tightly and with all his strength until the wire began to sink into the vampire’s skin. With one fast jerking movement, Donnie’s head was removed from his body.

Colten had blood covering his front, but he had prepared for just such a moment. He removed his outerwear and put them in a gym bag he had folded up in his pocket and made his way down the road. His breathing was heavy but steady and there was a sense of accomplishment about him and an adrenaline rush that caused him to be aroused just thinking about what he had done.

He had walked about a mile when he saw a car coming his way and it seemed strangely familiar. The closer the vehicle got to him, the more recognizable it had become.

  It was Victoria.

She recognized him instantly and when she reached him, she pulled over and shut off her car. She sat with her eyes connected to his and she knew that there was something different about Colten; that his testosterone was pumping, releasing his manly pheromones.

She wanted him at that moment, but she also feared for her life and with a sinking heart, she knew that her friend Donnie was no longer alive.

He walked up to the driver’s side of the vehicle; his eyes focused and his pupils dilated. She rolled her window down and realized that her vehicle was at crotch-level. As she watched him get closer and closer, her eyes were fixed to his crotch, trying to determine if he was aroused or if that was just how his pants looked.

He bent down just as she rolled her window down and the smell of what used to be her employee. The reek of his blood filled her nostrils and both repulsed and aroused her.

“I bet you’re wondering just what it is I’m doing out here, Victoria,” he said. His voice was dripping with pleasure and excitement.

“I guess we had better talk for a moment; there is a lot about me that you need to know.”

He took a step back and gave her room to open her door and to step out. She got out and shut the door behind her, leaning back on the closed door and her arms crossed. She did so to reveal in her body language that she was less than pleased, but at the same time to hide the fact that her nipples were hard and erect.

“I’ll just come out with it,” he said, licking his lips, “I’m a hunter and my job is to eliminate rogue vampires and vampires in general whenever possible.”

Victoria wasn’t horribly surprised because she sensed something about him from the very first time they met. There was also a soft spot that she knew she could reach were he to let her. She opened her eyes wide to show some expression of surprise, but she let him continue.

“Donnie was a problem that needed to be dealt with and I dealt with him as I knew how,” he said, his eyes trained on her cleavage.

Victoria got his attention and for a few moments they just stared into each others’ eyes. The longer they stood there, the more intense their feelings of lust and desire intensified. There was something more than just lust, however, and it was a new sensation for Colten.

He reached forward and rested his hand on her cheek and drew her face to his until their lips were touching. He then kissed her slowly, passionately and deeply; his tongue exploring her lips and her mouth.

She pushed him back and looked at her shoes.

“Colten, I have to tell you something as well,” she said quietly.

“I too am a vampire but I ache for you with my whole being,” she pleaded with him.

Colten took a step backwards; shocked at what he had just heard. His mind once again racing, his instincts were to leap on her and slit her throat right there on the scarcely traveled road.

His heart, however, was telling him something completely different. He wanted to run to her and tell her that all would be okay that somehow their differences could be worked through.

She said nothing else, but dropped her arms to her side and in so doing, exposing the round, perfectly-shaped breasts of hers and she did so unconsciously. The sight of her curvaceous body was all he could take. Vampire or not, he wanted her and he decided to do that right there on her car.

He took her hand and walked her to the front of her car where he reached to her waist and pulled down her exercise pants and spun her around to face the car. She smiled to herself as he pushed her down and bent her over.

He knelt down behind her, unconcerned about any possibility of being caught and he kissed the small of her back and followed her soft curves down to between her legs. When he saw her lips, he buried his face between her legs and began licking and lapping up her juices like a hungry animal.

She collapsed on the car, her arms spread wide to grip the hood of the car as her legs began to shake and tremble. She had experienced men going down on her many times but none had gone down on her from behind and the feeling of vulnerability and submissiveness was intoxicating.

He inserted his tongue inside of her and it caused her to flex her muscles around him. She was wet and hot; feeling the moment of truth approaching rapidly and with force. Her palms where sweating, making it difficult to grip the hood but she held on somehow.

When she came, her mind exploded in a cascade of colors and visions that made her feel as though she was back two hundred years before she had been turned. Her mouth opened and she released a moan as she yelled his name through her gritted teeth.

Before she could finish, he unzipped his pants, and dropped them around his ankles. He grabbed his massive erection with one hand and spread her cheeks open with the other as he slid deep inside her slowly. With each fraction of an inch, she moaned and pushed against him in the effort to have all of him inside of her.

He could not believe how tight and shockingly warm she was. He had always thought that vampires would be cold slabs of meat rather than the delicious treat he was experiencing on the hood of that vehicle.

Once completely inside of her, he began thrusting slowly at first and then increasing speed and force with which he pushed against her. The rougher he became, the more she loved it and groaned aloud. The pressure within him was building; increasing, and finally he erupted inside of her, filling her with his hot, sticky cum.

She threw her head back and released a scream that could have awakened the dead. Together they came intensely and when they had finished, they were both exhausted and panting.

  They pulled them
selves together and it hit them just exactly what had happened. Both would spend the next few weeks weighing the cost and the benefits of an ongoing relationship with each other but it was unavoidable. Fate had spoken and there was nothing either of them could do about it.

They moved in together and when they did, they came to an agreement that Colten’s hunting would be limited to completely rogue vampires and that Victoria would help him. Their lives were a walking, breathing contradiction, but it was exciting and more fulfilling than anything the two of them had ever experienced.

They would go on to live full lives together and sadly, she watched him age before her very eyes and try as she might, he would not allow her to turn him. Their days and nights together were full, warm, and exactly what they both needed and deserved.
