STARGATE SG-1-23-22-Moebius Squared-s11 Page 31

“Indeed,” Teal’c said, and put his arms around her, tight and solid. “We will never be far away.”

“I know.” Her voice sounded odd, and it shouldn’t. She was the captain now.

Teal’c stepped back, inclining his head formally.

And there was Jack. He didn’t offer her his hand, but his eyes were warm. “Carter.”

“Sir.” Everything they had to say had already been said.

“We’ll see you in a couple of months.”

Sam took a deep breath and turned away. The Hammond’s crew was waiting by the ramp, Cadman looking to her for her signal. “Yes, sir.” She raised her voice. “Let’s do this.”

They went aboard, the whole ship humming with life, the crew hurrying eagerly to their duty stations. The bridge buzzed with activity, and Sam waited a moment before she sat down, her hand on the back of her chair. Out the forward windows she could see the corner of the reviewing stand, the Secretary’s yellow jacket and Jack in his blues beside her, Daniel and Teal’c behind him, looking up.

“All systems are green,” Major Franklin said from the forward seat.

  “Confirmed,” Wright said. “All green.”

She had words prepared, but they deserted her. Instead she came around the chair and sat down, lifted her chin. “OK. Take her up at your discretion, Lieutenant Chandler.”

There was no sense of motion, just the whipping of wind around the reviewing stand, Jack reaching up to hold on to his cover, the Secretary shading her eyes.

The Hammond lifted into the cloudless summer sky.

  Authors’ Note

As always, we are grateful to the pre readers who have given us so many helpful suggestions in the process of writing Moebius Squared, especially Amy Griswold, our partner in crime for the Stargate Atlantis Legacy series. We’d also like to thank Gretchen Brinckerhoff, Lena Sheng, and Lena Strid for their keen eyes and enthusiasm. We’d also like to thank our editor, Sally Malcolm, for allowing us to take SG-1 out for an adventure! It’s been amazing fun!

  THE ADVENTURES CONTINUE....
