“No, you follow me, we’re leaving Soubrey!” Pinly looked at his group and saw no objections. Only puzzled looks from the others.
“What is the meaning of this?” the librarian asked
“We cannot stay here anymore, it’s only a question of time before they come back to attack us again. I don’t know when, it might be today, tomorrow, in a week or a year, but one thing is sure is that they’re coming back and you won’t be ready for them”
“And where do you suggest we go?”
“Mendy”
“Mendy?”
“Yes, fairy country…” Pinly pulled Ayloo forward “This is what fairies are meant to look like, they have wings and they live side by side with golems” he waved at his golems. The wingless fairies all around began whispering, some looked worried, but gathered closer, eager to hear more “there is so much you need to learn, don’t you want to see more? Are you not tired of seeing the same place every day? There is a whole country full of fairies waiting for you… Let me take you there”
“We have to discuss this” the librarian said
“There is no time to discuss anything” Pinly replied
“Pinly, let them discuss it” Miss Poli appeared, her robes torn and stained with blood, she looked up at the fairies all around “Spread the word, Soubrey is not safe anymore and a new attack is imminent, those who want to follow us to safety may do so, but make up your mind fast”
“We will leave tomorrow at dawn” Pinly said. When he turned around, Lion had disappeared. He knew exactly where his brother had gone. He flew through Soubrey and found him in their village. Sitting on a branch, looking down from where they used to live. Nothing had been repaired here, it was all just ashes.
“How I wish they were here” Lion said when Pinly reached up to sit down next to him
“Me too”
“The whole time I fought him. Every day because I knew you were somewhere out there. My little brother… And just as I had given up, you came for me” Lion wiped his tearful face “You hadn’t given up and you were stronger than I could have ever been”
“I couldn’t have done it alone… Miss Poli, Ayloo and Vince were there the whole time” Pinly replied. They sat in silence for a few minutes, until Miss Poli, Ayloo and Vince came into view
“What now?” Lion broke the silence
“We leave and start a new life far from here” Pinly replied
