My climax hits me like a freight train, racking my body as I writhe against him, screaming his name as wave after wave of pleasure rolls over me.
He eases me down, slow rolls of his tongue against my clit turning into soft kisses up my body until he hovers over me, his hard cock pressing insistently against my sex.
“I need you inside me,” I breathe, taking his mouth, tasting myself on his lips. “Let me feel you.”
Reaching out to his nightstand, he grabs a condom and sheaths himself and dips his head to kiss me again. I can never get enough of this man. How did I ever think I could resist him?
“When I sink inside you, that’s me sealing the deal, Gabs,” he says, his warm breath fanning against my skin. “This is us promising each other to take the chance on how good this could be.” He nips my bottom lip and pulls back, taking it with him. Positioning himself at my entrance, he locks eyes with me, waiting for my assent. It’s only when I give him the barest of nods that he slowly—achingly slowly—pushes his cock inside me.
My head drops back to the mattress, my eyes closing in absolute bliss as he starts to move. I lift my hips to match his thrusts, reveling in every touch, every stroke, every feeling he’s eliciting, everything Bruno washing over me.
I wrap my legs around his. We move together, my thrusts meeting his deep rolls, every nerve ending in my body electrified from what he’s doing to me. I’ve given in, and never have I been more grateful.
“You’re fucking gorgeous all the time, but you’re fucking exquisite when you’re taking my cock,” Bruno says.
The words drive me higher. My arms tighten around his shoulders. My fingers bite into his skin as I jerk against him. My movements grow erratic as my entire body demands a second orgasm. His eyes bore into me, his forehead digging into mine as he lunges against my body. His cock strokes harder, his hips stuttering as his sounds turn from grunts to deep rumbling groans. I kiss him again, moaning down his throat as my limbs convulse and I cry out, his own growl as he climaxes, setting me off again and again.
We stay there for what seems like hours, his cock planted deep inside me, my arms wrapped tightly around him, not wanting either of us to move, wishing we could stay just like this.
He lifts his head from my neck, a sexy grin curving his lips.
“Now do you feel it?” he says, his face beaming as he looks down at me.
I snort and shake my head at him, trying to wrangle my scattered brain to come up with at least something resembling a smartass retort. “I definitely feel something. Now, you have to clean me and feed me, because I have a feeling you’ve got a lot more proving to do in future.”
He kisses my nose and pulls himself free. “You have no fucking idea, Gabs. But first, my woman needs attention. More attention.”
It’s then I realize I may have just met my match when it comes to determination.
Funnily enough, the thought of it doesn’t scare me.
It excites me.
And it may be my two-orgasm muddled brain, but in this moment, I can’t quite remember why I fought this—and him—in the first place.
Chapter 9
We’d forgotten to close the curtains before collapsing from exhaustion just before dawn. That’s why I wake around nine a.m. having only had a few hours’ sleep.
As a reward for admitting my feelings last night, I give myself permission to take matters into hand—so to speak—and wake Bruno up the way I’ve been dreaming of for months, tempted by his naked body lying beside me and the bunched comforter at his waist doing nothing to hide his high-saluting cock.
That leads us to now, half an hour later, lying in each other’s arms as the sun streams through the window onto us.
My phone rings from my bag in the living room, breaking the peaceful silence.
“Do I have to move?” I groan, tightening my arms around him. He chuckles, loosening his hold and sitting up, swinging his legs over the side of the bed.
“You stay there. I’ll get it for you.”
“I’m not sure I want it,” I groan.
“The sooner you check who it was, the sooner I can get you dirty again in the shower. Then we can plan the rest of the day.” He stands and moves to the door.
“There’s an enticing offer, if ever I heard one.”
“Have I met my match with you?” he asks with a quirked brow. I pull myself up into a sitting position, placing his pillow with mine behind my back and leaning against the headboard.
“That’s something you’ll have to find out for yourself.”
“Like that’s gonna be a hardship,” he muses, before walking out of sight.
When he returns, he’s unfortunately grabbed running shorts from somewhere in his apartment, my view now hindered as he makes his way to the bed and hands me my purse.
“What’s with the shorts? Don’t tell me you’re getting all modest already?” I ask, earning a snort in response.
He puts a knee to the bed and slides back in beside me as I find my phone and unlock the keypad. “I figured if I put at least one barrier between us, we might actually get to the shower.”
“Probably a good move considering I’ve got two missed calls and a text from Kenzie. If I return her call, I might be awhile.”
He turns and cups my face, placing a gentle kiss against my lips. “Do it and I’ll make us coffee. That’ll buy me some time before I drag you into the bathroom.”
“You keep looking at me like that and I’ll be the one doing the dragging.”
“Good to know,” he says, kissing me once more with a huge smile and leaving me to my call.
“Hey,” Kenzie says, answering after a few rings. “You must have been sleeping like the dead.”
I bite the inside of my cheek, knowing she’d love to know the real reason why I didn’t hear her first call. “It’s been a long week,” I reply, not exactly lying.
“Ain’t that the truth? Let’s just say that my night was eventful.”
My eyes widen even though I know she can’t see me. “What happened?”
“Millen did.”
“No! Tell me you didn’t. I know we hate the bitch, but we have to abide by the girl code for everyone, even Lana Mason.”
“He was waiting at the curb when I arrived home.”
I knew he had balls but even still, I didn’t think he’d be stupid enough to turn up on her doorstep again. “You told him to fuck off, right?” I ask, closing my eyes because I already know I’m not gonna like her answer. Call it gut ‘best friend intuition.’
“Well . . .”
“Kenzie,” I groan, bringing my spare hand to my head.
“It was in the middle of an argument. He kissed me and I fought it but then he kissed me again and I couldn’t stop myself.”
The line goes quiet and I know I have to say something—anything—but what does one say in this situation?
“This is gonna need a lot more processing than a single phone call, Kenz.” This is gonna need a good hour or two. Any plans Bruno and I had for today go out the window since my lazy Sunday must now include a visit to my best friend’s house to help sort her head out.
“Yeah. I’ve got the wine. You bring the junk food?” she says.
“How about I watch you get acquainted with another man like Jack or Jim, and then be there for the aftermath.”
She laughs, but it’s a dry, exasperated snort that is barely believable. Knowing Kenzie’s family history with her mom cheating on her dad for years, this should be cut and dried. It’s not just the guilt of giving in to the man she can’t get out of her head and heart—it’s about doing the one thing she said she’d never do. “Alright. Sounds good. By the way, what happened with your car last night?”
Oh fuck! It’s still in the lot. Think, Gabs, think.
“It wouldn’t start and thankfully Bruno was just pulling out . . .” More like reeling me in, “. . . and thankfully he was able to drop me home.”
/> “You could’ve come back inside and got me. I would’ve helped you.”
“I know, but he was there; you were still working. It was a win-win.” If only she knew how much of a win.
“Okay. That’s good then,” she replies, sounding a little off.
“Kenz, we’ll deal with this. I promise.”
“Yeah, I just . . .” She sighs and there’s a long pause. When she continues, her voice is shaky, almost despondent. “I didn’t think he’d come back. I definitely didn’t expect this clusterfuck.”
“Babe, I don’t think anyone could’ve seen this coming. Even Nostradamus himself.”
That gets a dry snort out of her. “Let’s hope I get some clarity soon then. It’s not like this situation could get much worse.”
“Let me get myself sorted and I’ll come around just after lunch.”
“Thank you. See you soon,” she says softly.
“Bye Kenz,” I add before ending the call and dropping my phone into my lap.
I turn my attention to the door just as Bruno walks back in with two mugs in his hand. God he’s handsome.
“Everything okay?”
“Not really. Millen made an unexpected house call last night,” I say. His brows lift and his eyes widen. “And unfortunately that means our plans for today have just changed.”
He places the mugs on the nightstand and slides onto the mattress beside me, pulling me down so we’re lying face-to-face.
“She’s your best friend, and she’s a good woman. She needs you.” He leans forward and gives me a soft lingering kiss before shifting back. “We can have our date another time. I’m just happy to have you here,” he says. I tangle my legs with his and drape my arm over his hips, my hand drifting down to his ass and tugging him firmly against me.
“Come over to my place tonight. I’ll order takeout and we can just hang out.”
“Netflix and chill?” he asks with a smirk.
“Let’s call it making up for cancelling our date. I just want to spend time with you. Get to know each other better. Just—”
His eyes go slack and he rolls me onto my back and presses his lips to mine once more. “You want time to just be,” he says. I nod. “Gabs, I’ll just anything if it means spending time with you.”
For the first time in a long time, I have butterflies. They’re actually fluttering in my stomach, and it’s something I haven’t felt in years.
God, I could really fall for this man. I’m done fighting against him. Now I want to fight for us.
Chapter 10
“How was your day?” Bruno asks, walking through my front door and closing it behind him, a plastic bag filled with Chinese takeout hanging from his hand.
“It was okay,” I manage to get out before his spare arm is around my waist, I’m tugged against his hard body, and he’s giving me the best greeting ever in the form of a deep, hard, and long kiss.
We break apart.
“Do you always say hello like that? If so, I’ve totally been missing out,” I say. He follows me into the kitchen/living area and puts the food on the counter.
“That’s how I want to say hello to you. Is that okay?” His voice has a hesitant edge to it, completely unlike the confident, take-no-prisoners man who wouldn’t let me go last night. He doesn’t believe I’m in this yet.
I hook my arms around his neck and lift up, giving him my own deep and hard version of hello. I ease back slightly so our lips are barely touching. “You can do whatever you’d like to me at any time. Especially if it’s like that.”
“Are you particularly hungry?” he asks, his hands drifting down from my waist to cup my ass.
“Depends what you’re offering.” I grin against his lips, letting out a shriek when I’m suddenly hoisted over his shoulder like a captured maiden in need of plundering.
“I think you owe me a replay of your wake-up from this morning as repayment for cancelling our date.” There’s a teasing lilt in his tone.
“Is that right?” I ask. There’s no mistaking how turned on I am. My voice sounds like a sex-line operator on the cusp of the grand finale.
“Yep,” he says, smacking my ass. The minute a throaty moan escapes my mouth he falters, making my body tense.
“Bruno, I—”
“Well now this night just got more interesting.”
I don’t get to say much more after that except “yes”, “oh god”, and “fucking finally” when he pushes into me an hour—yes an hour—later.
***
“How did it go with Kenz?” he asks after we’ve got our breath back. I definitely won’t need to run—or use the spank bank—as much with Bruno in my bed.
I’m still lying on my side, the same position he left me in when he went to get rid of the condom. When he came back, he crawled into bed and spooned me, my body like a marshmallow as it melted back into him.
“She’s okay.” I link my hand with his at my waist as his thumb starts rubbing tiny circles against my skin. “She’s feeling every emotion possible right now. She can’t believe she let it happen and feels guilty, but doesn’t want to feel guilty, and then she’s hit with a new wave of anger at herself for not wanting to feel bad when she should.”
“It’s a messy situation,” he says softly, his lips at my neck. “I didn’t think Millen was that kind of guy.” There’s no mistaking the grit and anger in his voice. “Kenzie deserves a lot better than to be someone’s side piece when he’s not getting what he wants at home.” Scrap that—it’s beyond anger. “And she definitely doesn’t need a guy like that messing with her head like that.”
“She’s normally so strong-minded. She always has been, ever since I met her, but there’s something about this guy that she can’t control.”
“She shouldn’t have to control him.”
“No, I don’t mean control him. I mean, she can’t stop herself when it comes to him. She slapped him in the hallway at work and still ended up kissing him back. She tried to stop herself from sleeping with him last night, and it happened anyway. Now she’s agreed to go away with him next weekend. Three days together, and then he’ll leave her alone.”
“Hmm,” Bruno grumbles, his disapproval unmissable.
“She says she’s undecided but I know she’s going to go.”
“He’s engaged,” he states, telling me something we all now know.
“And yet, he says it’s not what it seems.”
He snorts and places a soft kiss against my shoulder. “Guys like that will say all kinds of shit to get a woman to do what they want.”
“And what about you?”
He tenses and his arm tightens against my stomach. “What about me?”
“Relax,” I reply softly, trying to backtrack after having obviously offended him. “I’m not tainting you with the same brush. I was actually just teasing you about getting women—in this case, me—to do what you want.”
He instantly relaxes and chuckles, his body vibrating against mine. “That’s different. You were being stubborn and I was sick of waiting.”
“Oh you were, were you?” I turn my head and meet his lips, kissing him gently before resting my cheek against my pillow again.
“There’s just something about you Gabs. Something I didn’t think I wanted again, but then I realized it wasn’t just about wanting it—it was about needing it. Lucky for me, I’m a patient man and the wait was worth it.”
Taking a deep breath, I brace myself for his response to what I’m about to ask of him next, mainly because it’s gonna go against one of my core values—honesty, and we’ve had a good night so far. I don’t wanna ruin it. “I need to ask you something.”
“Okay . . .” he replies cautiously.
I sit up in the bed and turn toward him, not missing the way his eyes stay fixed at chest level before sliding up to my face. I bite my lip and shake my head, needing to get this out before I lose my nerve and he ends up distracting me again.
r /> “Can we keep this between us for a while . . .?”
He opens his mouth but I quickly carry on, wanting to get my reason out before he says no.
“I don’t mean forever, and in no way is this because I’m embarrassed or lying or don’t want to be seen with you.”
His brows bunch together at my words. “I’d never think that, Gabs. It doesn’t seem like anything embarrasses you, and I like that about you. It’s sexy. You’re uninhibited and confident, and most of the time, you don’t give a shit what people think of you. You’re just you, and people don’t have to like it because frankly, you don’t care.”
I love that he knows that about me. “Okay . . . but I know it’s not fair to ask you to hide this—us—but right now, my best friend is going through something big, and her being the boss—our boss—and my best friend? She’s got enough on her plate without this”—I wave a hand between us—”becoming something else she has to deal with. And if I’m being honest . . .” I slide back down onto the mattress, lying on my side and snuggling into him, “I like the idea of it just being us for a little longer. This may not seem fast for you, but its super-fast for me.”
He stills, his eyes widening slightly. “Gaby, if you need to slow this down, if you’re not comfortable, we can—”
“This is what I mean.” I cup his jaw. “It is fast, but I’m in no way uncomfortable. I’m more than comfortable. I wanted to see you tonight.”
He looks away from me, and I know I’ve hit the nail on the head. “Bruno. You would know if I wasn’t in this as much as you are. You may have had more time to think about this than I have but I don’t take any decision lightly. Getting in your truck last night was still a decision I had to make, however persuasive you may have been.”
He leans forward and touches his lips to mine, his eyes full of meaning as they watch me. “I’m glad you made the right decision, because there’s not a lot I wouldn’t do to have you in my arms, in my bed—”
