“I think we should go and see him as soon as possible,” Jason replied. “Maybe we can help him through his recovery.”
“Let’s go tomorrow. Call Dr. Agoura and see if he can arrange a meeting for us!”
“I’m on it, Eric. I knew you were the right person to share this letter with. Ben really needs our support!” Jason went over to Eric and put his arm around his shoulder. “Eric, you are my inspiration for doing a mission like I just did. Every day that I see you happy, successful, and free of your abusive stepfather, it increases my determination to fight against predators who harm kids.”
“And there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t thank God that you did!” Eric wiped a tear from his eye.
“All the money in the world could never replace the feeling of friendship that we have, Eric! Helping another person through a difficult time is the best thing anyone can do in this world! The feeling you get inside after doing that is the most fulfilling kind of happiness there is. Money and jewels are nothing compared to love for your fellow human beings!”
“You are right, Jason, but you take things one step further by using your money for the greater good and to help out teens like me!”
“No problem, my friend! I can’t think of a better investment than people like you, Nick and Ben. Now let’s go for a swim at Laura’s house. She’s expecting us shortly.”
“Sounds great to me, Jason. Other than playing music with Daniel or hanging out with my friends, you know there is nothing I like more than swimming!”
The two friends left the nave of the church, got back on their bikes and headed back home to get their swimming trunks. Life was getting back to normal again.
Eleanor Roosevelt once said: “I could not, at any age, be content to take my place by the fireside and simply look on. Life was meant to be lived! Curiosity must be kept alive. One must never, for whatever reason, turn his back on life.” Because Jason and Daniel were firm believers in that philosophy, it wouldn’t be long before the team of Hunter & Holmes would be called upon to face another challenge.
