Thief's Cunning Page 30

by Sarah Ahiers

To Anne Ahiers and Jennifer Coats, who really quickly read early drafts of this book and managed to convince me that, no, I hadn’t forgotten how to make sentences or actually write words in general. (What am word? You tell me, Anne and Jennifer. You tell me.)

To cheerleaders Austin Gorton, Hannah Oman, Ryan Spires, Jessica Kirkeby, Molly Beth Griffin, Megan Atwood, and Tricia Conway. And the staff, faculty, and students of Hamline University’s MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults, especially my final two advisers, Phyllis Root and Swati Avasthi. And of course my Front Row cohort, Jessica Mattson, Brita Sandstrom, Josh Hammond, Zack Wilson, Jennifer Coats, Anna Dielschneider, Gary Mansergh, and Kate St. Vincent Vogl. You are all excellent people.

To my dogs, who can’t read this and sometimes bark at me when I should be writing but keep me from being lonely while typing away. Hopefully they know how much I love and appreciate them.

And last again is my family: my mom and dad, and my siblings Anne, Patrick, and Cassie. They say things like “I just wish Sarah had a new book coming out every month”—and actually mean it.

  About the Author

SARAH AHIERS spent her childhood running around outside with her siblings, drawing pictures, and writing stories. Now, as a grown-up, she has an MFA in writing for children and young adults, and while she does less running around outside, the writing has held fast. She has also written Assassin’s Heart, a companion novel to Thief’s Cunning.

Sarah lives in Minnesota with three dogs and a houseful of critters. She has a collection of steampunk hats, and when she’s not writing she fills her time with good games, good food, good friends, and good family. To learn more about her, visit www.sarahahiers.com.
