Chapter 6
Betrayal! Hypocrites! A crime against the woman I love.
Everyone has something that makes them angry. I consider myself lucky, and I am not a coward. Lucky because the bitches that ran Zara out of town haven’t connected me to her.
So what’s the one thing that makes you angry?
None of them going about their merry way to stab her in the back know how close we…. People don’t really notice me. I am going to use that to my advantage.
Not like you’ve just missed a bus angry, but the kind that turns your world into shades of red. A rage so great that every whisper it makes is a scream into your soul.
Goulburn and I are enemies. Their precious hockey team betrayed Zara and their band of supporters did the rest. First throwing weight behind Zara, with the blessing of Kathy Parker. Then the betrayal when she dared go against the Mayor’s daughter.
I warned her the team would be hard to handle. Last year after Catherine McConnell’s performance in Sydney. The town’s golden child won a gold medal. All eyes on Sam to rise to the same heights.
She’d told me not to worry – after two years, she was ready to deliver another championship trophy. Make herself a hero.
Then it all went wrong.
Danielle started the trouble. Easy enough to contain until Sam became involved. It was Sam who turned the team against Zara. Sam was the one. She’d walked out of training. Quitting the team. Guaranteeing the next match was lost.
Goulburn travelled to Queanbeyan short of players. Down on morale. No surprise that they got thrashed.
Suddenly, Zara, friendless among the community. Told to leave town. Told she’d never have control of their prized hockey team again. She took the hint and transferred.
I’ll be joining her at the end of the year. Until then I turn my anger into revenge.
Destroy the team, everyone around it, and anyone who stands in my way.
