“Uh,” Georgie started and Boomer turned and looked at her and smiled.

“Yeah, baby?” Boomer said and she wanted to groan, she liked how his voice softened when he said the word baby, she was so screwed.

“Can you sit over there?” she asked politely and he grinned.

  “Nope.”

“Uh, why?” she asked and he just smiled and looked at the waitress who was walking to them with two glasses of water. When she set them down, Georgie went to grab it, she was so thirsty, but Boomer put his hand on hers.

“Thanks,” he said to the woman and then continued, “but, can we have two bottled waters, and two bottled beers? Also, bring us two of the specials and a basket of chips and salsa.”

The woman nodded, she didn’t say a word, she just nodded. When she was gone, Georgie leaned over. “I can’t believe you said that.”

Boomer frowned and looked at her. “Why, everyone knows not to drink water here without it coming from a bottle. I am not going to chance either of us getting sick and needing to stay put for a few days until the bug works its way out. Been there done that, it sucks. She didn’t care, she knows.”

“Well it was rude,” Georgie said.

“Maybe, but better than getting sick.” Boomer laughed. “So, tell me about you.”

She looked at him and shook her head. “Why, when we get back we will never see one another again.”

“How do you know; I think we are neighbors now.” Boomer laughed. “You and your sister are the new designers at the Bike Shop, I was going to stop by and offer to be your detailer, been doing it for a while, don’t want my own shop, figured I could help when needed, but still be free to do shit.”

“Do shit? Like what shit?” Georgie asked curious.

Boomer smiled at her and winked. “Anything you want.”

“Seriously, you are flirting with me while we are literally running for our lives?” Georgie asked.

Boomer chuckled. “Baby, there is always times for that. Trust me, once we get to where we need to go, we will be fine. Until then, we will just stay vigilant, I highly doubt they will find us, but just in case, we are gonna need to get some fire power.”

“WHAT?” she hissed and looked around, he had been talking in a normal voice, anyone could have heard them, what on earth was he thinking? What was she thinking? She needed to get out of here. She needed to get back home, okay deep breaths.

“Baby, it’s cute how you think you are talking to yourself, but you are saying shit out loud, but seriously, we need to get a handle on this.” Boomer smirked and she groaned.

“Sorry, I don’t know why the hell I do that, but for some reason I just can stop,” she muttered.

“Like I said, it is cute, and most times I wouldn’t mind it, but here, it could get you into some trouble,” he said and then a man slid into the bench across from them. She almost told him to leave when Boomer smiled and said.

“Hey, brother, how is it going?”

The man looked at them closely and then said, “I have what you need, but just so you know, a little birdie says that some Columbians have arrived and are asking questions. They made a statement by cutting off the hand of one of your known contacts, Edwardo. They are headed this way, if you need anything else, you need to find a new source, the only reason I came was for the respect I have for your club, you know why. But I like both my hands where they are, so I am leaving as soon as I walk out this door, no one will find me. Cover your tracks and get back on the road, your package your president requested is leaning against your bike. I suggest you take this order to go and get the fuck outta here,” the man said and she looked at Boomer who was frowning but he also had a sparkle in his eyes. He was pissed, she could tell by the twisting of his mouth when he responded very controlled.

“You need anything, you call, make sure you lay low until you hear this shit is done, these fuckers are going to be wiped off the face of the earth, every last fucking one of them, but until then, they are dangerous. They will kill your family, and anyone you care about, make sure you protect your family. If you can’t, call Fling, he will help,” Boomer said and then the waitress began to walk over to them and he shook his head and said to her, “Food to go, now.”

Her breaths came rapidly as she looked out the window and stared at the road they had just left. Not many cars were on it, they had probably passed less than twenty cars on the way here. So they were alone, and in the middle of nowhere. She really hoped that Boomer had a plan, apparently they were being hunted.

“How much time do we have?” Boomer asked the man who shook his head.

“I heard about an hour ago when Edwardo’s brother called to tell me. I figure they were hauling ass to catch up, so I am not sure,” he said and Boomer nodded and stood and pulled out money and dropped it on the table before turning to Georgie and saying.

“Come on, we need to hit it.”

She scooted out of the booth and followed Boomer, who stopped long enough to grab the bag the waitress was holding. When they got to the bike he picked up the bag, opened it, pulled out two guns, slid one in his back, turned her around and stuck the other in hers. He never said a word, only mounted the bike and motioned for her to get on. She was carrying a bag, but she shrugged and nodded.

When he fired up the engine and roared out of the parking lot, she figured they would be driving for a while, so when he turned on a dirt road and began to fly down it, she was confused but held on tightly. Bikes and gravel or dirt, tended to be squirrelly. The drove for a few miles until they were well off the main highway when he turned again. Another few miles and a small shack appeared. Boomer drove behind the shack, where there was a pile of cammo netting laying and he stopped.

“Come on, baby, get off. We need to hurry and cover this, get inside. I don’t like being out in the open,” Boomer said and she nodded and hurried and dismounted.

She set the bag down and helped him cover the bike and then followed as he walked into the shed. It was small and she looked around, there was only a table in the room and Boomer went directly to it and moved it to the side and looked at her and winked.

He pulled up the ratty rug that had been under it and it showed a square door cut into the floor. Boomer pulled up with the latch and she could see a hole in the floor. She stepped closer and he smiled at her.

“Down we go,” Boomer said and she shook her head, confused.

“Where does it go?” she asked and he sighed.

“Well, we need to get over the border somehow and since we no longer have the choice of driving to Juarez to get help, we are gonna need to go another way where we are not in the open. The club bought this land a long time ago. There is a tunnel down there, it will lead to another shed on the US side. Unfortunately, we are going to need to walk it, which is gonna take some time since we are about thirty miles away. The good part is, there are several rooms cut out so we can rest and sleep, the bad news is, we are underground, and I really hope you are not claustrophobic because this kinda sucks. I didn’t want to do this, but it is the only way now,” Boomer said and she looked at him with wide eyes.

“Not claustrophobic but um, how long is this going to take to get to where we are going?” she asked.

“Well, we could probably make it in three days if we walk for eight hours a day. But you are gonna need to tell me if you need to stop,” Boomer said and she bit her lip and looked down the tunnel and then looked back up at him.

  “What about light?” she asked.

He replied, “We have flashlights down there; we also have food at each section. It is MREs but they aren’t too bad. We can make it, I am sorry about this, I really thought we were going to be able to ride!” Boomer said and she nodded and then sighed.

“Okay, if this is the only way. I guess we are gonna do this,” Georgie said and then handed him the bag and grimaced and then bent down. She put her foot on the first rung and then she took a deep breath and began her descent.

  By the time
she made it to the bottom, Boomer had already closed the door to the top and was pointing a flashlight down at her.

“Against the wall there is a shelf, grab a flashlight and turn it on so you can get orientated,” he called and she felt her way over and found the shelf and followed his directions. She shined the light around, at least the flashlight was one of those large super duty ones that actually lit up a lot. The room they had dug out was pretty big, it had a few tables, and bunk beds along with several other shelves of supplies.

Fling looked around the room filled with bikers. They were in church, and yeah, they were making a long past due decision. The only men in the world who knew what the Furies MC was all about were in this room, and they were missing only one. Boomer was an important part of the Furies, and there was no way he was leaving him out there, no way at all.

“Do you understand what I am saying?” Fling said and the men shifted in the room and Bear leaned forward.

“Listen, Fling, we need to tread lightly with the Ops. You know I respect them, love them like I was one of them as well as a Fury, but they have their own shit to worry about, they can’t take this on too. Also, you and I both know that when push comes to shove, they will keep shit on the down low, they don’t want attention to their club any more than we do.”

Fling nodded and said, “Ops have their own deals; we will continue of course with them. However, we are once again off the rails here, our ass is swinging in the wind, and as long as we keep this shit clean, we will be fine.”

The rumble through the room was that of agreement. He nodded, he knew for a fact that shit was gonna get really ugly and really quick. In this, like the other times, there would be no backup, but that was what they were used to. The Furies were going to do what they always did, they were going to extract their pound of flesh for their family.

Three years ago, Tommy ‘Titan’ Ryme had been the President of the Furies. He was Sunny’s brother and Fling had been the Vice. They had been like a lot of other MCs, they ran by their own rules, and made their own rules when it came to what was right and what was wrong. However, there was a slight difference. A few years prior to that, Titan and Fling had been approached by a government agency to help them out with something. The reason they were approached was due to the fact that both men had been Mercenaries, and their team were all still with the Furies. They did jobs that our government would never sanction. If someone needed taken out, the Furies did it. If someone was held prisoner in another country, they were called to get them out, the list went on and on. The rules were, that the Furies would never be acknowledged by any official government office as legal, if they got caught, they got killed, anything that would bring what they were doing into the light, the government would deny everything.

It wasn’t so hard to make up their minds, all of the guys from the Furies MC had been part of their team at one time or another, some new some old, but all from one of the meanest Men for Hire teams there was. Titan had been proud of what they did since most of the people they were hired to either kill or destroy deserved it. They only had one rule, no children ever.

They worked to get their reputation as an MC as a cover. The only thing they didn’t do was run drugs, everything else was fair game. The Ops were their suppliers for weapons, most they kept and the overage they sold. Local law enforcement had tried on more than one occasion to catch them in the act of doing an illegal deal. They never had, but the guys had all at one time or another been arrested for some stupid little charge. It was part of their cover, but in LA the cops had been getting too close, they had focused too much on the comings and goings of the club, not good in their line of work.

So they had moved, San Diego was the perfect spot for them, since basically, moving over the border to TJ and then disappearing on a mission would be the best thing for all of them.

All of them had a specialty they had honed for years and so when the time came they could pick and choose who would go and who would stay. The night that changed their lives forever was the night Titan and his squad, which consisted of Fling, Boomer, Tally, Tank, and Ridge Runner, had done the impossible, they had taken out one of the worlds most wanted criminals, Filipe Ortiz, a Columbian national who trafficked not only drugs but also women into and out of America for years. They had planned, they had waited, and before they had left, Ortiz sent men to stop them. How he had found out Fling will never know, but the fucker did.

It was a night none of the Furies will ever forget. Devon was staying with his uncle for the night, Titan and Dev were close, they had planned on going fishing the next morning. When Ortiz sent his men in, they were supposed to take out Titan only, but he hadn’t been alone, his old lady, Birdie, had been there, and so had Devon. The next day they were found by Ridge Runner who had been set to go fishing with them. The club had been devastated about the loss of their President as well as Birdie and Devon. Sunny and Fling had both gone off the deep end, Sunny in a depression, Fling in a rage.

The club had followed, and Fling was made President. Within a week they had gone in search of Ortiz and found him, in his home, in Columbia. Even in his rage, Fling had ordered only Ortiz and his high ranking henchmen to be killed in the name of Titan and Devon. They had done their job and got out. Questions had come up by the agency who hired them in the first place to capture Ortiz, Fling hadn’t answered them.

Once they had worked through their grief, Fling had put it to a vote if the club wanted to continue what they had been doing. The club voted yes, and stricter security had been implemented. The only thing they did differently, was he spoke to Creed in confidence and told him what they needed to do their thing, the Warriors provided it without question. They still did, this next job was gonna get messy. They all knew it and they all supported it. Alejandro Ortiz was going to die, and the rest of the Ortiz family, which consisted of a sister who was just as bad as her brothers. Seeing as how apparently they were trying to get revenge for their brother, they would need to be eliminated.

“Make the calls, and get us what we need. Boomer has the woman from the shop with him, they will call when they cross the border, until then we wait, but once we get that call, we are moving. Ortiz and some of his henchmen are said to be in Mexico tracking them. I have no doubts they will follow into our borders, which could make it harder for us to get away with what we have to do, but maybe we can at least get a little bit of help if they do cross over here,” Fling said and the meeting continued as they planned out what they were going to do.

  Chapter Five

Boomer and Georgie sat down at the table and lit the battery operated lanterns that were on the dirt walls of the cavern they had entered. Georgie was taking slow, deep breaths, the air down there was stale, like no one had been there in a while, which probably they hadn’t considering some of the cobwebs hanging around.

Fucking spiders! she thought and looked to the ground and made sure there weren’t any crawling on her pants, she was safe for now but if one of those fuckers crawled into her hair, she was totally getting a buzz cut.

Boomer laughed and shook his head. “Yeah, please don’t cut your hair.”

She looked at him surprised and then groaned loudly, the sound vibrated off the wall and she grimaced. “Seriously, I need to get a handle on that.”

“Like I said, baby, it is cute, but yeah, sometimes you need to make sure you’re not speaking out loud.” Boomer chuckled and he opened the bag of to-go food from the café and then pulled a few bottles of water from the wall behind him, which were surprising cool.

“So, how long have you guys had this tunnel?” she asked and opened her container and smelled, damn she was hungry. She began eating and looked up at him expectantly. Boomer smiled and shook his head.

“Just like we were in a restaurant just chatting instead of in a hole in Mexico. Does anything phase you?” he said.

Georgie shrugged. “Of course it does, I mean, seriously I have been freaking out, but really once you get past the whole, kid
napped and almost blown up, how much worse can this get, well other than us dying, which I am pretty sure my number isn’t up yet, I have too much to do. I am a half glass full type of girl, make the best of a situation, why cry over something you can’t change, if I did that, I would be in tears ninety percent of my life.”

Boomer laughed loudly, once again the vibrations bounced around, she looked and wondered if she had spoken to soon. His voice just boomed out like his name. “I’m glad you’re not the weepy sort, that would have sucked in a big way, especially since we need to walk for the next three days together. I would prefer doing it with someone who isn’t gonna be a pain in my ass.”

Georgie shook her head and said seriously, “I am a pain in the ass, sorry to burst your bubble, but just saying, three days of walking and no chocolate, we could have a major problem.”

Boomer winked at her. “I will make it up to you.”

“Really? And how are you gonna do that?” Georgie asked and then thought, yes thought because she made sure she wasn’t saying shit out loud on this one, he was sexy, hot, and more than a little dangerous, everything she avoided when it came to men.

“Well,” Boomer said. “This tunnel ends right inside El Paso. When we get there we will need to make our way back to San Diego, if you play your cards right maybe we can stop in Vegas on the way home.”

Georgie rolled her eyes. “Yeah, hate to tell you this, but seriously this is a crisis.”

“Some of the MREs have candy bars in them, we will open them all until we find one, I promise,” Boomer said, just as seriously.

Georgie smiled and nodded. “Good answer! Now tell me what you guys have this shack for really?”

“Well, I assume you know it was once for people to cross illegally into the US. When we bought this land we originally planned on moving the club here, but it was too far away from the ocean, none of us wanted to leave California, so the club uses it to moved back and forth across the border and let’s just say, bring goods to our friends for a price. But, that is all I am saying about those so, okay, tell me about yourself,” Boomer said. “We have three days to talk.”
