“Just, add the fee Lenny.” I said, pulling my wallet from my back pocket.
With our purchases complete, Jake and I made our way back to his truck. Neither of us wanting to shop any longer than absolutely necessary. I would do a lot of things for my fake fiance, but spending an entire day in a shopping mall with Jake, wasn't one of them.
“So, you're really getting married huh?” Jake asked, as we pulled out of the parking lot.
“We are.”
“I'm happy for you man.”
“What's the catch?”
“You know how messed up I was over Evie. I regret so much about the way I handled things. I was too fucking stubborn to let myself be happy. I'm glad you aren't doing the same.”
“You should look into writing hallmark cards Jakey.”
“Fuck off.”
I laughed, turning to look out the window. I realized we were heading to my place first, and I was grateful. I knew I couldn't avoid Wes forever, but for now it seemed like the smartest thing to do. My feelings were still too raw, and if I were forced to be in the same room with him, I'm not sure that I could control my temper. Normally, he was the one who could talk me down, but not this time.
When I walked through the front door, I was expecting to find Harper there. Instead, I found a note. Cole, I went to dinner with the girls, don't wait up. Xoxo – Harper. Tossing the note into the trash can, I noticed a sticky note on the oven door. Open me. Pulling the note off, I slowly opened the door, revealing a large casserole dish covered in foil. I smiled to myself, removing the dish, and placing it on the counter. It was chicken tetrazzini, one of my favorites, and it was still warm.
Only Harper would cook me dinner, before going out. It was just the type of woman she was, the type of woman a guy like me didn't deserve. I happily ate my meal, and after cleaning up the kitchen, I decided to head out onto the back porch. It was just starting to get dark, and the breeze coming off the water felt amazing. I put my feet up on the swing, and closed my eyes, listening to the crashing waves as they hit the shore. I could feel myself relaxing, and before long I fell asleep. It wasn't until I heard Zoe's voice coming from inside some time later, that I realized Harper was home.
I opened my eyes, adjusting them to the darkness that had fallen, before inevitably going inside. “What time is it?” I asked.
Zoe looked from me, to the clock on the wall. “Two AM.”
“You're just now getting in? Where's Harper?” I yawned.
“Passed out in my car.”
“What?”
“Don't be mad at her Cole.”
“I'm not mad at her.” I said, giving Zoe my best side eye. “You know she's never really gotten drunk before. Why weren't you looking out for her? You're pregnant for fucks sake! Why are you even out at this hour?”
“First off, I am not your wife, so fuck off! Secondly, Harper is a grown ass woman, who by the way needed to unwind. I tried taking her back to my place to sleep it off, but she insisted on coming home to you. So if you wouldn't mind grabbing your “fiance” from my car, we'll be on our way.”
“What's with the air quotes? And who's we?”
“Alcohol tends to bring the truth out Cole. I won't tell Wes, who is also in the car, but I don't agree with this plan of yours either.”
Before I could respond, Wes entered through the back door, cradling Harper in his arms. I was over to him in three strides, lifting her from him, and carrying her into the downstairs bedroom. When I was sure she was alright, I left the room. Wes, and Zoe were standing by the back door, ready to leave.
“Thanks.” I said, nodding my head in Wes' direction.
And without another word, they left.
Chapter 14
I took Harper's heels off, placing them under the window. She smiled slightly in her sleep, and I laughed under my breath, she was adorable. I rolled her onto her side, unzipping her dress next. Very carefully, I freed her from it, and slid it down her petite frame. I took the tee shirt off that I was wearing, and after removing her bra, I placed it on her. It wasn't until I covered her with a blanket, that she started to stir.
“Cole?” She asked, groggily.
“Shh. Go back to sleep Sweetheart.” I said, leaning down to kiss her forehead.
She reached for me, her nails scraping against my bare chest. “Aren't you coming to bed?” She pleaded, making her best puppy dog face, and attempting to pull me into the bed with her.
I climbed over her then, slipping in beside her. I pulled her tightly against me, inhaling her familiar scent. “Did you have a good time?” I whispered into her ear.
She fell into a fit of giggles then. “Don't do that!” She said, in between laughter. “It tickles.”
I couldn't help but laugh, drunk Harper was fun. “I'm sorry Sweetheart.” I said, rubbing my hand up and down over her hip, and thigh.
“Mmm.” She sighed, pressing her ass against me. “Why do I feel so horny?”
“It could have something to do with your company.” I teased. “Or, it could be the fact that you're a tad bit drunk.”
“I couldn't even taste the alcohol.” She giggled. “It was so fruity, and just so... good!” Suddenly, she spun around in my arms, as if she'd just remembered something important. “Evie got into a bar fight!”
“What?” I asked, full of surprise.
“Some guy was being a real prick.” She slurred, rubbing her hand on my cheek. “You're so God damn sexy! I just want to kiss. Your. Face. Off.” She said pecking my lips between each word, until she'd finished.
“Your lips taste like sangria.”
“I love that song! Oh do you think we could go to a Blake Shelton concert? I've never been to one!”
“Sure Sweetheart, but right now, I need you to go to sleep.”
“I don't wanna go to sleep.” She pouted, placing her hands firmly on my chest. “I wanna... you know.” She said, biting her bottom lip.
“You wanna cum?”
“I wanna have sex.”
“Not tonight pretty girl, you're drunk, and I'm not taking advantage.”
“But.. I want you to.” She purred, placing one of her legs between mine. “Please.”
“Lay on your back.”
She didn't ask why, she just did as I asked. I propped myself up on my elbow beside her, and with my free hand, I reached down into her panties. I began to make slow, lazy circles around her tender clit. She closed her eyes, and I watched as her expressions changed. Soon, her quiet breathing, turned to soft moans, and I moved my fingers a little faster. I followed the cues her moans were giving me, increasing my speed, and pressure, until she was arching her hips.
I slid my fingers from her clit, down to her core, relishing in the moisture that had pooled there. “You're so fucking wet, baby.” I whispered in her ear, sending goosebumps over her body. Gliding a finger inside of her pussy, I felt her clench down around it. “So tight.” I whispered again, moving my finger in, and out slowly, tortuously, as she laid her head back, enjoying the sensations.
I added another finger, and encouraged by her moans, I added one more. Using my fingers, I expertly fucked her pussy. Her moans were getting louder by the second, so I withdrew my third finger, leaving only my pointer, and middle inside. When they were deep enough, I used my thumb to circle her clit.
“Yes.” She cried, as I simultaneously fucked her pussy, and rubbed her swollen clit.
“Cum for me Sweetheart.” I said, moving my hand as fast as I could, feeling her impending orgasm.
A few short seconds later, I felt her walls tightening around my fingers. Her moans became louder, and louder, until she came undone in waves. Her legs twitched, and her pussy pulsed, as she covered my fingers with her sweetness. “Feel better?” I asked, pressing my lips against her ear.
“Mmm Hmm.” She sighed, turning to her side, and cuddling into my chest. “I still want to have sex Cole. I'm ready. Promise.” She yawned.
I closed my eyes, as I ran my fingers through h
er hair. I wanted nothing more than to make love to her. I thought about it all the damn time, but she was drunk, and I loved her. I knew a little about surviving abuse from my own experiences, but I never wanted Harper to see me as someone who would take advantage of her. I felt her body getting heavier against mine, and soon she drifted off to sleep. Blue balls two, Cole, zero.
I woke up the next morning to the feeling of Harper's lips on my cock. It took me a second to realize what was happening. She'd never been so bold before. I thought about lifting the bed sheet and exposing her, but I didn't want to embarrass her, plus that thing she was doing with her tongue felt so damn good.
“Good morning Sweetheart.” I said, my voice still husky from sleep.
She stopped then, and I felt her smile around me, before she got back to business. I closed my eyes, enjoying the sensations she was sending through my body. “Let me see you pretty girl.” I said reaching for the bed sheet, and pulling it slowly towards me. What I found beneath it, had me cursing just under my breath. “Fuck.” Her bare ass was up in the air, and her legs were crossed at the ankle behind her. I caught her eyes with mine, and she quickly closed them. I chuckled. “No need to be shy now Sweetheart.”
“I feel silly when you're staring at me.” She said.
“Well you shouldn't, because you look hot as fuck.”
She blushed, tucking her hair behind her ears, and biting her bottom lip, before dipping her head back down to my cock. She captured the tip with her lips, and sucked it gently, her gaze never leaving mine. Watching her pull me in and out of her mouth had me ready to lose all of my self control. She'd done this before, but never with this much intensity, and never looking directly at me. I had to admit it was driving me fucking crazy.
“You want me to cum in that pretty little mouth baby?” I asked. She blushed again, her lips still wrapped tightly around my dick, and the sight only turned me on more. “Tell me now Sweetheart, because I can't hold it much longer.” I warned. Instead of responding verbally, she gave me a small nod, and that tiny gesture was all that I needed. Seconds later, I claimed her mouth as mine, and just when I thought she couldn't get any hotter, I watched her swallow me down, licking the tip for good measure.
“What got into you this morning?” I asked, as she crawled up my body, and curled into my side.
“I left you hanging last night, it was the least I could do.” She purred, rubbing her hand over my chest.
“Remind me to get you drunk more often.” I teased, kissing her temple.
“Remind me to kick your ass.”
“Remind you to what now?” I asked, rolling on top of her and effectively pinning her beneath me. Laughter filled her eyes, as she caught onto what I was planning.
“No.” She said, trying not to smile. “I'm sorry. Cole... don't do it.”
I smiled wide, and without hesitation I began to tickle her ribs. She instantly fell into a fit of giggles. She tried to push me away, but I grabbed her wrists, and pinned them above her head. My cock twitched, as it brushed against her core, and I had to stop myself from slipping inside of her. She must have sensed my change in mood, because her expression grew somber. “I'm sorry.” She said softly.
I released her wrists then, with a lazy smile on my face. “Stop apologizing.”
“I love you.” She said, reaching up, and placing her arms around my neck.
“I love you too.” I replied, letting her pull my face down to hers, so that I could show her just how much.
Chapter 15
Prom day was finally here, and since it was Harper's first official prom, I had to make sure we did things right. Zoe, and Evie came to our place so that the girls could get ready together, and I drove to Wes'. We hadn't really talked much since our disagreement, but we both agreed to put our differences aside for today. Zoe had worked her ass of planning this event, and even though Wes and I were on the outs, I wouldn't let that stop me from supporting Harper's House.
When I arrived, Wes, and Jake were already in their slacks, and white dress shirts. I carried my suit in over my shoulder, and laid it on the back of the couch. “How long have you been in your monkey suits boys?” I asked, walking past them directly into the kitchen. I grabbed three beers from the fridge, and brought them back out to the living room, handing them each one.
“Just a few minutes.” Jake answered, popping the cap off his bottle. “Is it a good idea to get drunk before we head to an event?”
“No one's ever gotten drunk from one beer grandma.”
Rolling his eyes, Wes popped his own cap, and took a long pull from his bottle. “A little liquid courage never hurt anyone.” He said, before downing the rest, and setting the empty bottle down on the table beside him.
“Who needs liquid courage?” I asked, draining my bottle as well.
“It's your first prom Cole-y” Wes gushed.
“Correction. It's Harper's first prom.”
“I still can't believe you got a fucking limo.”
“You're just pissed that you didn't think of it first.”
“Get your damn suit on Cole, I only have a sitter until midnight, and I intend on using every spare second I have to be balls deep in my wife.” Jake said, effectively ending our conversation.
“You have live in pussy, how the hell aren't you balls deep in your wife every night?” Wes asked.
“One word. Gabriel. He's turned into a mini cock block. It's like he has some kind of radar. The minute things start to get good, bam! The kid comes walking in out of nowhere. He's like a fucking ninja. Just wait until your kids get here, you'll see.”
“I'm not worried. My wife's pretty damn creative when it comes to getting what she needs.”
“Dammit Wes, that's my fucking sister you're talking about.”
I laughed, grabbing my suit from the back of the couch. “And that's my cue to leave.”
“Better get used to it. A few days from now, and you'll be in the same boat.” Wes said.
“I'll be married sure, but neither of us want to have kids, so getting it in, won't be a problem.” I winked, before disappearing into the bathroom to change.
Harper and I had a lot of conversations, about a lot of different things early on in our relationship. We were in that getting to know each other stage, and before we started officially dating, having kids was one of the first things that came up. She was adamant that she didn't want to bring a child into the world. She had spent so much time hating her own childhood, that she wasn't sure she could provide a happy one to someone else.
I tried to reassure her, but the truth was, I wasn't exactly father material either. I knew nothing about being a parent, and it wasn't like either one of us had the best role models to look up to. The thought of my impending wedding had me thinking though. We were still young, who's to say we wouldn't have our shit together in ten years and change our minds.
I looked at myself in the mirror, shaking my head at my reflection. What the fuck was wrong with me? Harper and I weren't actually getting married. I took a deep breath, as I tried, and failed repeatedly to put my damn tie on. After a few minutes, I made my way back out to the living room. “I should have bought a fucking clip on.” I said, to no one in particular.
“I got you.” Wes said, walking towards me. He reached for either end of my tie, and silently tied it into a lose knot, allowing me to pull it up myself to adjust it's fit. Before he took a step back, he gave me a quick slap on the shoulder. “I'm sorry, Cole.”
I nodded, giving him a slap back. There was no need to say anything else, I was just glad that he apologized. Maybe now we could all enjoy our evening. The guys were both wearing black tuxedos, and I stood out like a sore thumb in my gray suit, and rose gold tie. The things you do for love, I thought as the three of us climbed into the back of the waiting limo.
The driver was an older gentleman, probably in his late sixties. He smirked at us from his rear view mirror, and Wes reached for the button to close the partition window. “Don't these th
ings usually come with a stocked mini bar?” He asked, once it closed completely.
“What happened to not arriving drunk?” Jake asked.
“Don't you remember your senior prom? Are you telling me you didn't at least sneak a flask in?”
“I was on the fast track to the army. I couldn't afford to fuck up.”
“Shit, our whole group had flasks, and the punch bowl was spiked so many times it didn't even taste like punch anymore.” Wes laughed.
“We weren't all a bunch of juvenile delinquents.” Jake said.
“Hey! I resent that.” I chimed in.
The window partition went down then, and the driver cleared his throat quietly. “There are refrigerated drawers beneath the seats. You'll find a small selection of alcoholic beverages, feel free to help yourselves gentlemen.” And just as quickly as the partition lowered, it went back up again.
“Do you think he heard us?” Jake asked.
“Paranoid much?” I asked. “He's a fucking limo driver, I'm sure he was just doing his job.”
“Does he just sit in here all night? I mean while we're all inside?”
“I don't fucking know! Why are you so interested in the damn limo driver Jake?”
“I was hoping to sneak Evie out during the dance for a little one on one time.” He said, raising his eyebrows.
The limo came to a stop then, and a quick glance out the window told us that we'd arrived at my place. I was grateful. Not that I didn't enjoy talking about sex with the boys, but discussing Jake and Evie hooking up in the limo like a couple of horny teenagers wasn't high on my priority list. I turned the corsage container in my hand, checking to make sure the flowers were alright, before opening the door, and exiting the limo.
The three of us walked up to the front door, and being the gentleman that I was, I rung the doorbell. A few seconds later, Harper opened the door, and I felt my jaw drop. She looked absolutely stunning. Her dress was fitted in the bodice, and flared out around her small frame. It was long, stopping at her ankles, and the rose gold color complimented her sun kissed skin perfectly.
