Janie sat on the bench in front of the hospital, Alayna in the stroller beside her. Xavier had left the week before with a team to find her sister, following up on some leads they’d gotten from her old pack. After they found out their alpha was dead, they’d all been more than happy to turn over any information they had to them. All except her parents. They refused to talk to anyone about either her or Silver. It had been two days since she’d spoken to her mate, and she was slowly going out of her mind with worry.
“It’s going to be okay.”
Janie turned to look at Jade, nodding with a small smile, even though she didn’t really believe the other woman.
Jade sat down beside her, covering Janie’s clasped hands with one of her own. “Trust me,” she said softly, a gentle smile forming on her lips as she looked over toward the entrance to the compound.
Janie followed her gaze, stiffening when just moments later a black SUV pulled up, waiting until the gate lifted before driving through. Janie stood, her hand now clutching Jade’s tightly as she watched the SUV head their way, coming to a stop in front of the hospital. The driver’s door opened, and Xavier stepped out, a wide grin on his face as he looked at her. Turning, he opened the door behind him, and someone slipped out. Janie gasped when she saw a head full of light blonde hair. When the door shut, her eyes connected with dark grey ones dancing with laughter. “Silver.” She breathed her sister’s name, taking a step toward her, her hand outstretched. She’d never thought she would see Silver again. Alpha Reed had been adamant about her not contacting anyone from the pack after she was kicked out. The punishment for defying his direct order was death.
Silver grinned, quickly closing the distance between them and wrapping Janie up in her arms. Janie clung to her, crying tears of pain and joy. Pain for all of the time missed with Silver, and joy that her sister was now there in her arms. “I’ve missed you so much,” Silver whispered, holding her close. Leaning back, she smiled, “Thank you for sending your mate and his friends to find me.”
Janie stiffened, her gaze sliding quickly over her sister. “Are you okay? Were you hurt?” She didn’t look hurt. Silver was dressed in black leather, from head to toe. Janie’s eyes widened when she saw the gun strapped to her side, and another on her thigh. She could see the hilt of a knife sticking out of her boot, and something shiny was hiding in pockets down the side of her pants. She didn’t look like someone who needed rescuing. Far from it.
Silver laughed, shaking her head. “That stupid son of a bitch Reed tried to sell me off to someone called the General. The same bastard who took you, from what Xavier told me. Unfortunately for him, the goons he sent didn’t get very far. What you don’t know, sis, is that I have been training to become an enforcer since you left. At least that is what our pack thought. Actually, I had really decided that I wasn’t going to let anyone tell me what to do anymore. Asshole Reed was not going to control me. Once I thought I was ready and able to protect us both, I was coming for you. I didn’t care if we had to live by ourselves. You are my sister, my best friend, and I love you.”
Janie’s eyes sparkled with tears as she murmured, “You always were the stronger one.”
Silver threw back her head and laughed. “I don’t know about that, sis,” she scoffed. “I may have dreamed about taking out our alpha, but you are the one who actually accomplished it. Sounds to me like you are the strong one, Janie.”
“Mama.”
Alayna’s soft voice interrupted them, and Silver’s eyes softened as she turned to where she sat in her stroller, her arms stretched out toward Janie. “This must be Laynie. I’ve heard a lot about you, little one.”
Janie moved to pick Alayna up, cuddling her close. “Meet Alayna Silver Andrews, your niece.”
“Andrews?”
Xavier’s rough whisper reached across the hospital gardens, and Janie smiled, watching him walk their way. “Alayna after my great grandmother, Silver after my sister, and every little girl should have their father’s last name.”
She saw the moisture in his eyes as he stopped in front of her, gathering them both in his arms. “Yes,” he agreed gruffly, “yes, they should.”
Janie snuggled into her mate’s arms, glancing around at her sister and the other enforcers who stood near. This was her pack. These were her people. She finally had what she had always wanted. She was home. She was finally home.

Dawn Sullivan
About the Author
Dawn Sullivan has a wonderful, supportive husband, and three beautiful children. She enjoys spending time with them, which normally involves some baseball, shooting hoops, taking walks, watching movies, and reading.
Her passion for reading began at a very young age and only grew over time. Whether she was bringing home a book from the library, or sneaking one of her mother's romance novels to read by the light in the hallway when she was supposed to be sleeping, Dawn always had a book. She reads several different genres and subgenres, but Paranormal Romance and Romantic Suspense are her favorites.
Dawn has always made up stories of her own, and finally decided to start sharing them with others. She hopes everyone enjoys reading them as much as she enjoys writing them.
