Nick said nothing.
“Nick?”
“Yes.” Nick said.
“That’s pretty much our proposal. What should I tell him?”
Nick looked over at Morgan, who rolled over next to him.
“Yes, tell him yes. Absolutely,” Nick replied.
“I’m glad to hear that,” Nina said. “Jeff will be thrilled.”
Morgan lifted one leg under the sheets, bringing it up over Nick’s body.
“Okay,” Nick whispered.
“We’ll be in touch with the paperwork this week.”
Morgan raised herself up, the sheets falling away from her body as she straddled him.
“Great,” Nick responded, and slipped the phone back in its cradle.
He looked up at Morgan, wrapped his arms around her, and they started again.
Acknowledgments
Thanks to Stephen Emond for the incredible cover art!
Thanks to Elizabeth Attebery for cleaning up the text and pointing out where my dislike for some of the book’s more dastardly fictional characters might have gotten the better of me.
Thanks to all the websites that spread the word about this book online.
I can’t forget the help of my editorial assistants, Bueller and Mimi and their sisters Winter and Mocha, who have all provided welcome entertainment and amusement as I poured over the text of this book throughout the years.
And of course, thanks my wife Stephanie, who has put up with me for a decade now, and didn’t throw me out of the street when horrible jobs, silly excuses, and plenty of frustration undoubtedly made me an absolute monster to live with. She’s also sorta patient when it comes to home improvement projects, my need to dust and vacuum, and the way I obsess about everything.
Mike Attebery earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the School of Film and Animation at the Rochester Institute of Technology. When he isn’t writing or editing books and screenplays, Mike spends his days worrying about... everything, and kicking and knocking on stuff to see what it’s made out of. He lives in Seattle, Washington with his wife and their two ferrets, Winter and Mocha.
