Black Magic Man Page 12

“Thank you, darling.” She flashed him a wide smile. “I’ll treasure it always, but why the cheetah?”

“It reminds me of you. Not only is it the fastest land animal in the world, it’s a marvel of evolution. Slender long legs, fiery eyes, and those distinctive tear stripes. Those tear stripes remind me of the tears you shed when you defeated that Black Magic Man.”

Smiling wryly at the truth of his statement, Lange turned to him. “Now for your gift. Are you ready?” With a flourish, she whipped up her shirt and presented him with her belly. “What do you think of this?”

Rupert stared at her, speechless. Getting off the chair, he cupped his fingers beneath her jaw and tilted her face upward, staring into her beautiful golden eyes. A tremor went through him as he stood in awe. He knew what it was. The certainty rang through him, but he had to hear her say it. “Just say it, Lange.”

“I think our great effort paid off. We’ll soon be parents.”

Rupert took a deep breath, releasing the breath he had not realized he’d been holding. He moved his hand gently over the flat surface of her belly. Rupert drew a deep breath. His child with Lange, a part of himself inside her… The thought gave him a feeling of euphoria that he had been given such a gift. He had been questioning his ability to sire a child. Rupert bent his head over Lange’s and buried his face in the luxurious mass of her hair.

  “Are you happy now?”

For a while he was unable to reply. “I’ve always been happy with you, darling. I’ve told you before you are my world, and without you, I don’t exist… You, my darling, complete me. And now that we are going to have a child, my world has just expanded to include our child.”

“Oh, sweetheart, you are the best. I believe you’ll make a great father.”

“You’ll make a great mom too. When is the great day?”

“In exactly seven months, so get ready.”

“I was ready the first time I laid eyes on you at the barber shop. I said to myself, this is the woman I want to be my wife and the mother of my children. And from the first time I bedded you, I’ve been thinking of nothing else but having my seed growing inside you.”

“You mean you were thinking about this all the time you were making me climb the walls.”

“Ha, not during, but after, but I never pressured you. I waited until you were good and ready, and we did this together. I have to thank you for my gift in a way we’ll both enjoy.”

Lange sighed and closed her eyes.

Reaching down, he lifted her to bring her up to his chest. He could feel the rapid beat of his heart as he remembered how close he’d come to losing her. “Let’s go to bed, ” he said.

“It’s too early,” she exclaimed, laughing.

“I want to see you naked—except for your necklace.”

“You are impossible,” she said, letting him carry her to their bedroom.

  AUTHOR’S NOTE

This is the second and final book in my paranormal magic books. I did not want to call these two books a series because they’re not. There are some connections but very few. After my first book, White Magic Woman, depicting the female side of voodoo and witchcraft, I had to write the side of the male, which is much more prevalent and a lot more powerful than the female’s. Both books are set on the island of St. Lucia in the Caribbean, but White Magic Woman takes you to other foreign shores. Black Magic Man does not. Everything takes place in a little village in St. Lucia.

This book, however, has a lot more interaction between the two main characters as they go about their daily lives. There’s also a lot more about the art of voodoo and the people who practice the art in the form of Black Magic. This art form is all based on sex and the sexual prowess of the perpetrator. That being said, there are a lot of extremely hot scenes in this story. So I hope you enjoy the story of Solange and Rupert as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Finally, as usual, please drop me a line to let me know your thoughts or, better yet, leave me a review on the site where you purchased the book.

  Enjoy,

  XOXO
