“Just trust me, darlin’,” Missy grinned, pouring them each a cup of coffee.
“It’s Key Lime!” Marilyn exclaimed, her mouth full of cupcake.
“It’s my Margarita Madness recipe, made with Key Limes,” she replied proudly. “I knew you’d like them.”
“Like them? I love them! Would you mind if I made the recipe for my shop and sold them in the Keys? I’ll definitely give you full credit for the recipe.”
“Of course, honey, I’d be honored. So have you made your big decision yet?” Missy asked, taking her seat finally.
“Not yet. I think I’m just going to continue on the way that I have been for a while, maybe hire an additional person to help me out…there’s really no rush, and being here in Calgon has definitely shown me that it’s necessary every now and again to just stop and smell the roses,” Marilyn shrugged, content.
“I’m sorry things weren’t exactly peaceful during your visit,” Missy made a face.
“No worries, I wouldn’t have missed it for the world,” Marilyn patted her new friend’s hand. “Besides, I got a couple of new friends and some furry friends out of the whole deal,” she grinned, and Echo gave her a hug.
“Daimler and Benz are going to think that they’ve been abandoned once you leave,” she mused.
“Then I’ll just have to come back and visit,” Marilyn replied with a wink.
“Absolutely,” Missy and Echo said in unison, cracking everyone up.
“All’s well that ends well, I suppose,” Missy said happily.
The trio didn’t see the sleek, black car that pulled up beside the Inn. Nor did they see Spencer bend down furtively next to the car to speak with the occupant, but Chas, standing near an upstairs window, saw the young veteran beside the car, which looked more than a bit familiar. The detective paused for a moment, looked out the window once more, then drew the shade.
