He gave her a kiss, not a good-morning kiss, but the kind that under other circumstance would have them in bed in a fast second. She smiled and laid her head on his shoulder.
“You’re the most beautiful person I have ever known in my life,” he continued. “Because of you I walk on clouds every day. When we’re both doddering around with canes and looking for our eyeglasses just to find our rocking chairs, you will still be the shining light in my life.”
She hugged him so tight he was the one to beg for breath.
Fifty—a hundred—years would never be enough time with this man who had opened his heart and made a gift of all the treasures inside.
