Running Away Page 26

“I’m gonna eat some Peaches,” he said with a laugh before moving my leg higher and diving in.

His lips and tongue consumed me within seconds, and I cried out from the sudden pleasure. I took in several breaths until I could function enough to grasp him in my hand. I stroked his dick briefly before taking him into my mouth.

He groaned against me, the vibration causing me to moan, and my eyes fluttered closed. Stroking the base of him while sucking and working the rest of his perfect dick with my tongue and mouth, I cupped his balls in my other hand, kneading them lightly the way he liked it.

My body was hot and my blood was racing through my veins while he teased me relentlessly with his tongue and fingers. Jeremy pulled away to bite and mark the inside of my thigh as he stroked my G-spot, sending me over the edge.

  God, he’s good at that.

Letting out whimpers and moans of pleasure, I came with him still in my mouth. He cursed and slowly rocked his hips, pushing and pulling himself in and out of my mouth. He never went overboard and I trusted him completely to be easy with me.

Jeremy easily shifted us around again so that he could watch me. He propped several pillows behind him, and I maneuvered my body between his legs to give me the best access and him the view he wanted. I leaned forward knowing he loved it when my hair spilled over him. As I teased him with my mouth and hand, his fingers weaved into my hair. Within seconds, he moaned my name and his body stiffened with his release.

I loved trying new things with him sexually, because he still refused to actually consummate our relationship. We were, however, having an energetic time finding new and exciting ways to please and surprise each other. Sometimes they worked to benefit us, and other times we’d end up on the floor laughing at our failures.

Nearly a month and a half had passed since I came to stay with him. I hadn’t left because he didn’t want me to go. And I didn’t want to go because I loved being with him. So, I’d pretty much moved into his house. He refused to take money from me for rent, so I did the majority of the cooking and cleaning, and kept the fridge and the rest of the household supplies stocked.

Reese had moved into our apartment weeks ago, but hadn’t decided if he was going to rent out my room or keep it for me, just in case.

I wasn’t worried about the “just in case” because I was truly happy for the first time in years, and in a relationship with someone who treated me the way I wanted to be treated. Jeremy continually surprised me with his caring and loving ways.

Even though Jeremy hated the picket fence, he’d kept it after he’d noticed my disappointment when he’d mentioned ripping it out one day over breakfast

I had been so giddy about keeping it I’d dressed in grungy clothes, and scraped as much of the old flaking paint off as possible. After going to the store and buying new paint, I’d spent the rest of the weekend painting the entire fence.

“Come on, let’s get in the shower,” I said, as I hopped out of bed. “I’ll take you to breakfast before we head out to the corn maze and haunted barn.”

“Are you trying to kill me by scaring me to death?” he asked jokingly.

“Don’t worry, my boyfriend, I’ll protect you from the zombies and chainsaw wielding murderers in the corn maze.”

He was such a chicken when it came to anything horror. He blamed Adam for scaring the crap out of him when they were little. Every time they would watch scary movies, Adam would grab him or scream when the scary parts came on. I got the impression that being the baby of the family, Adam had been quite the troublemaker as a child.

Halloween was my favorite holiday, and since I didn’t have to work, Jeremy had taken the day off too. We had the whole day planned to do all my favorite Halloween activities.

Once we were ready, we stopped for breakfast at a small café on the way out of Sacramento. At the farm with the corn maze, I practically skipped to the entrance to pay our way in because I was so excited.

Jeremy laughed as I dragged him behind me. “Jesus Red, you’re acting like a kid on Halloween.”

“You’re the one acting like a kid, ’cause you’re scared, you big sissy.” I wrapped my arms around him and planted a kiss on him. “Don’t worry, I’ll protect you.”

“You better, pretty girl. You’d be sad if you lost me in there, wouldn’t you?” He tipped his chin toward the looming corn maze behind me.

“You know I would. But, today is the only day of the year I get to act like a big kid, so you had better be prepared. This is gonna be so much fun.”

He smirked and rolled his eyes at me, but the big grin on his face was the icing on my metaphorical Halloween day cake. I hadn’t been to the farm since I was a kid and I wanted to share a bit of my favorite things with him. Unlike Gary, Jeremy never berated me or made fun of the things I liked or did, and I’d never appreciated it more.

“Let’s get on with you scaring my pants off me already.”

Later, when we were officially lost in the maze . . . well, he was lost . . . I wasn’t. I had a map and knew exactly where I was. Two rows over from me, Jeremy walked toward the next turn. I snuck quietly between the corn stalks, jumped out, and grabbed him when he walked past.

He easily caught me around the middle and planted a kiss to my forehead and then another to my lips. “You’re lucky you didn’t get punched, Red. The last time Adam pulled that shit with me, he ended up with a black eye and a busted lip.”

Doubling over with laughter, I reached out and tried to take his hand in mine, but he pushed my hand away. “Aww, you’re not mad at me are you?” I could see he was trying not to smile.

“Yes, I am. I think you need a spanking,” he said low enough so nobody except me heard.

Grinning, Jeremy took a step closer to me and I backed away. He jumped at me unexpectedly and tossed me over his shoulder like he had so many times before. As soon as I quit squirming, he smacked me hard on my butt cheek.

“Oh, do it again,” I said loud enough for everyone around to hear. “Spank me harder, you dirty, dirty beast!”

He spanked me one more time just for good measure then bent forward and dropped me back to my feet. “You’re such a shit, Teagan,” he said with a laugh.

Taking his hand in mine, we hurried out of the corn maze using my trusty map. “Time for the haunted barn,” I said, dragging him behind me.

“Fabulous,” he groaned and followed me toward the building of doom.

At the haunted barn, we waited at the end of a long line of people. We were talking about the zombies wandering through the corn maze and how creepy and realistic they were when someone called out Jeremy’s name.

“Jeremy James? Is that really you out here on a farm?” a female voice asked from behind me.

Jeremy looked past me and his expression became guarded.

Turning around to see who called out to him, I found a blonde woman approaching us. She was gorgeous, not surprisingly, and exactly the kind of woman I’d imagine Jeremy with if I weren’t in the picture. Jeremy took my hand in his, holding it tightly.

“Nicole,” he said when she stopped in front of us. “How are you?”

  “Good, and you?”

  “Never better.”

“I can see that,” she said, glancing at me then at our entwined hands.

My guard instantly went up, sensing something had once been between her and Jeremy. Nicole surprised me by reaching her hand out to me.

“Well, it seems that Jeremy’s not going to introduce us,” she said, her smile teasing, but friendly. “I’m Nicole. I’ve known Jeremy for years.”

Taking her extended hand in mine, I said, “Hi, I’m Teagan, Jeremy’s girlfriend. It’s nice to meet you.”

“Sorry,” Jeremy said, “I was just surprised to see you here, Nic.” He let out a breath and relaxed.

She released my hand and I let it fall to my side.

“It’s wonderful to meet you, Teagan. Are you two going into the haunted barn?” she asked. Her eyes drifted betwe
en Jeremy and me, waiting for one of us to answer.

“Yes,” Jeremy finally spoke up when I squeezed his hand. “Teagan’s been waiting all day to get me in there.”

Nicole laughed, a knowing expression on her face. “Ah, still a big scaredy cat is he?” she asked me.

“Most definitely,” I replied with a laugh. Regardless of what had once been between them, clearly they were only friends, now. Surprisingly, that didn’t make me uncomfortable. “Are you going into the barn?”

She shook her head. “I wanted to, but I’m here with my sister and nephew. He’s too little to go in and I didn’t want to go by myself. We were sitting down to have a snack when I glanced over and spotted Jeremy. I just came over to say hi.”

“Why don’t you go in with us,” I blurted out.

Nicole’s eyes grew big and Jeremy shot me a “what the hell” look.

Grinning, I shrugged my shoulders. “Nicole wants to go inside, but doesn’t want to go alone. Since we’re going in she won’t have to miss out on it if she goes with us.”

Here I was extending an olive branch to someone I knew Jeremy had been with, but Nicole seemed normal, not like crazy Cammie. I could be the bigger person in this situation since Nicole posed no threat to us.

“Are you sure you don’t mind?” Nicole’s eyes darted between Jeremy and me.

Again, Jeremy answered, meeting my eyes for reassurance. “I’m okay with it as long as Teagan is.”

“I am totally fine with it.” The fact that Jeremy was on board with my decision to invite her along with us showed that I trusted him to be around an ex. Well, one that wasn’t Cammie. And in that situation, I trusted him, but not her.

Nicole grinned at me, her face alight with surprise and a bit of confusion. “Let me run over and tell my sister. Be right back,” she said and turned back the way she’d come from.

“Teagan . . .” Jeremy stared down at me, obviously not knowing what to say.

“Look Jeremy, I’m not blind. I know there was something between you two at one time, but she seems nice, and it’s obvious that she’s not interested in you like that anymore.” I giggled when he let out a sigh of relief.

He pulled me close and took my face in his hands; his stormy blue eyes stared into my green eyes. “Do you even understand how much this means to me?” He pressed his lips delicately to mine before wrapping his arms around me. “Thank you for trusting in me.”

A minute later, Nicole joined us again. “You two make a really cute couple, you know?”

Jeremy and I pulled apart and he took my hand in his again. “Thanks, Nic.”

“I’m really happy for you, Jeremy,” she said, just as our group was called to go into the barn.

He gave my hand a squeeze and the three of us entered the barn together.

We weaved our way through the barn, and I had a feeling that I was leading Jeremy through with his eyes closed because he kept running in to the props. He stayed silent and close to my side. Nicole led the way, and I screamed with fright when the biggest, freakiest looking clown jumped out and grabbed both of us. Although Jeremy was a chicken, Nicole and me had a scary-good time as we made our way through the rest of the tour. At the end, we were ushered out the door and back into the bright sunlight.

“I’d better get back to my sister and nephew,” Nicole said as we let our eyes readjust to the light. “It was good to meet you, Teagan. Thank you for inviting me to go in with you.”

She turned to Jeremy to say goodbye. “You’ve got yourself a keeper here, Jer. Take good care of her.”

“I know—and I will. It was good to see you, Nic. Take care of yourself.”

After saying our goodbyes, I spotted our next activity for the day in the form of two giant horses pulling a hay wagon. “Hayride!” I squealed. “Come on, let’s get on and go pick out our pumpkins.”

I reached out for Jeremy’s hand and he pulled me close. “Teagan, I meant what I said earlier. Thank you.” He rubbed his fingers over my Claddagh ring. I nodded as his hands came up to cradle my face. He kissed me sweetly, making my lips tingle. “Now, let’s go find my beloved woman the biggest pumpkin in the patch.”

Once we had picked our pumpkins, we played a few games, split a bag of kettle corn then decided to call it a day. We had an hour-long drive home, pumpkins to carve, and a ton of candy to pass out to the trick-or-treaters.

When we arrived home, we were filthy dirty from goofing around at the farm. We carved our pumpkins old-school style, with triangle shaped eyes and noses, and toothy grins. Somebody thought it would be funny to throw a handful of his pumpkin guts down my shirt while I was bent over gutting mine. That caused a huge gut fight between the two of us.

Thankfully, we were on the patio in the backyard when it happened and not inside the house. We took a quick shower together because I had pumpkin guts in my hair and couldn’t get them out on my own. At least that’s what I told Jeremy.

After our shower, I dressed in my Halloween costume and fixed my hair. The kids in the neighborhood always used to love it when I dressed up to pass out candy at my mom and dad’s. Because I was a redhead, this year I dressed as Princess Merida from the kid’s movie Brave. Yes, I knew she was Scottish, and I was Irish, but the kids wouldn’t care either way.

“Look at you, sexy lady,” Jeremy said when I entered the living room and twirled around in my dress. He had the bowl of candy for the trick-or-treaters on the couch between his knees and was picking out a few of his favorites. He set it aside then pulled me down onto his lap. “And who are you supposed to be?”

Because I couldn’t master a Scottish accent, I stuck with the Irish accent I had mastered while growing up listening to Nanna and Papa.

“You fool, I am Princess Merida. Don’t make me shoot you in the ass with my bow and arrow.”

He laughed at my awesome acting skills and snuck his hands under my long dress, sliding them up my legs. When he hit the top of my thigh highs and garters, his eyes grew big and he lifted my dress.

“Holy shit, Red. What do you have on under your dress?”

“It’s my Ariel costume, but it’s for your eyes only after everyone leaves,” I said. The look of confusion on his face was priceless. Jesus, had he never watched The Little Mermaid? “You cannot tell me you’ve never seen The Little Mermaid, Jeremy.”

He shook his head. “I had all brothers growing up, Teagan. Zoey didn’t live with us for very long before I moved out, so I never saw movies like that.”

  That made sense.

To give him a little preview of later tonight, I clutched the hem of my dress and slowly began to reveal my tiny costume underneath. Jeremy’s eyes and hands traveled up my legs as I pulled up my dress. He got impatient after he spotted my garters and pushed the costume up to my waist. When he saw my tiny, sequined panties that resembled the turquoise, scalloped detail of Ariel’s mermaid tail, his jaw dropped.

“Fuck me,” he mumbled. “Can I see the rest, please?”

Laughing, I slowly dragged the dress up higher intending for him to see my matching seashell bra, but the doorbell rang. He’d have to wait until later to see that.

“Our first trick-or-treaters!” I fixed my dress and jogged to the door, yanking it open to find Andy, Zoey, and Hannah on the porch.

“Come in, come in,” I said, ushering them inside.

“You have the worst timing ever,” Jeremy told them when they came in.

“Did we interrupt something important?” Zoey asked as she looked between Jeremy and me.

  “No.”

  “Yes.”

Zoey and Andy laughed when Jeremy and I gave different answers at the same time.

“Don’t worry, we won’t stay long,” Zoey said to her brother with a knowing grin on her face. “We just wanted to bring our little ladybug out for her first Halloween.”

Jeremy jumped up off the couch and went to get Hannah. She held her arms out to him and started jabbering on about something only she could understand.

“Happy first Halloween, Sweet Pea,” Jeremy said as she snuggled down in the crook of his neck, her little, black antennae hitting him on the chin. “Look at you in your pretty ladybug costume.” He kissed her on the cheek and my heart melted the way it did every time he held her and said adorable things to her.

Then Jason and Heather showed up with Jake, Alex, and Mya. The boys were dressed as Batman and Robin, and Mya was dressed as a princess. After they all left, Jeremy and I spent the next few hours passing out candy until it was gone.

“Now what do we do, Miss Halloween?” Jeremy teased.

After locking the front door, I flipped off all the lights and he followed me down the hall to the bedroom. “Now we hide from the trick-or-treaters and watch scary movies in bed.”

“Hmm, I love the bed part of your idea,” he said, quickly ridding himself of his clothes and dropping them onto the floor. “I think I need to see that other costume of yours right now though.”

Shaking my head, I stepped into his closet and brought out the adult treats I’d put aside for us earlier. I set the tray containing two shot glasses, his favorite tequila, and snacks on the bed.

By midnight, we were both drunk and he was still trying to get under my dress. Finally, I gave in and jumped off the bed, ripped the dress off over my head and tossed it at him.

“Your tits have she-sells on them,” he mumbled, moving to sit on the edge of the bed. “I mean she-shells. Fuck. Seeee-shells . . . I fucking love your bra. Lemme see your ass now.”

I spun around, struck a pin-up pose, and wiggled my hips for him. Jeremy snaked out his arm and caught me around the waist, pulling me backward onto the bed. He rolled me onto my back and kissed me like he was a man possessed.

My mind was swimming with tequila, lust, and love for him. His hand slid down my leg and he unsnapped the garters from my thigh highs as he kissed me. I sat up, took off my bra, garter, and thigh highs, and tossed them onto the floor.
