“Did you just say you’re a part of Hybrid’s army?” Maria asks.
“Yeah, we were sent all the way here to help you guys get out of here, but the mission hasn’t gone well at all.” Danny answers.
“I have to ask you something.” Maria replies.
“I know, you wanna ask me out. Hehe! I know the ladies go crazy for some Dominican love…” Danny replies arrogantly.
“Ah… no, I’m happily taken I’m afraid. Besides what I want to ask you is what are you really doing here?” Maria asks angrily.
“I told you already, to come and save you.” He replies.
“Don’t lie to me! Hybrid is the reason all this chaos happened in the first place!” She replies angrily.
“Listen little girl, we’re just mercenaries, a hired hand by the big boss. Do you think the master would tell his dogs why they have to retrieve the stick they threw? No right?” Maria does not respond and Danny continues, “If you want answers you should ask someone else. I’m not with Hybrid! Believe it or not we’re only here to save you people. If you can trust me, then help us out… If not, good luck on your own.” Danny pleads his case and walks away.
“Wait! I guess you’re right, sorry about accusing you. It’s that, I lost a good friend of mine just now thanks to Hybrid.” Maria calls Danny back.
“I’m sorry about your loss, but now we have to work together. I’m sure your friend would want you to survive.” Maria nods her head in agreement and Danny continues, “Well the path to the bank is blocked, but I believe that if we get to the roof of the supermarket we can get on top of the van and drop down to the bank entrance. A couple of my men are trapped in there.”
“Well I got the key to the bank, so I guess let’s go for it.” Maria agrees with the plan.
The two enter the supermarket where most of the grocery items are on the floor and the supermarket looks like it was ransacked. Even the Key Food sign is on the floor all broken up. Then footsteps are heard, but they are not human steps. Danny and Maria look around to make sure of their surroundings.
When they get to the cold cuts section they are met with a new creature called, Lizarda Plus. This an upgraded Lizarda from the first adventure that it’s head has a shade of red. Its speed is improved and so is its attack. The Lizarda is so fast it’s able to attack Maria before either of them is able to attack.
Condition: Caution (Level 1)
Danny uses his assault rifle to kill the Lizarda that was attack Maria. Another Lizarda come from behind ready to attack Danny and Maria is able to blast it in midair before it could strike him. After that more Lizardas come from the back part of the deli section going after the two.
“Let’s run and get some room from these reptiles!” Danny screams.
“Oh crap, zombies in the meat section! Crap this is a death trap!” Maria freaks out.
“Calm down chula, we got this. I got the weird reptiles and you take care of the undead.” Danny comes up with a plan.
While Danny kills off the Lizardas, Maria uses her handgun to kill off the zombies. The zombies themselves turn out to be target practice, but the Lizardas is what worries her. After taking care of the zombies, she assists Danny in finishing off the Lizardas. Once they clear all the monsters they hear a loud bang warning them more creatures are probably heading inside. However the coast is clear.
They begin to explore the supermarket for any evidence or anyway to the roof. Maria finds a maintenance room and inside she finds a couple of things. Inside a glass that she uses her shotgun to break she finds a key to the roof hatch.
Picked up Roof Hatch Key.
Picked up a jar of Gunpowder A.
She also finds a reloading station to convert her gunpowder, this time though she tries something different.
Maria mixes gunpowder A and B to get Gunpowder C. She loads in Gunpowder C into the reloading station and receives 6 standard grenade rounds.
She loads the lone Gunpowder A into the machine and receives +20 handgun bullets.
Pistol Ammo: 128
Grenade Ammo: 15 Standard Grenades
She also presses a switch to let down a ladder so the two can use to get to the roof hatch. As they approach the ladder the lights go out in one section of the supermarket. Danny finds a lantern that he lights up with a match.
“Count on us to get stuck in the dairy section, care for any milk or cheese?” Danny asks humorously.
“You seriously thinking of eating at a time like this? Go ahead bro eat all you want, that crap is probably spoiled already.
“Well suit yourself.” He says while he takes a bit of some spoiled Muenster Cheese. “Oh God this stuff is terrible! Everything here is spoiled, damn it!” He yells after spitting out the bad cheese.
“Well I told you so, now can we get out of here? It’s getting too quiet here.” Maria says impatiently.
The two head to the ladder and Maria begins to climb the ladder. However a loud boom causes her to fall down from the ladder. Afterward a loud monstrous sound can be heard and Maria knows that voice all too well.
“OOO… Maria!!!” Nemesis screams as it pops through the entrance of the supermarket.
“No, not this monster again! Does he ever take a damn break?” She screams as Nemesis strikes again.
“It seems to be after you, what did you do?” Danny asks.
“No time to explain, throw the lantern at him. Maybe you can burn him.” Maria orders Danny.
Danny throws the lantern at Nemesis and at first it actually does burn the creature. The creature does go down burning up.
“Nice job Danny that will give him the burn for sure. Now let’s get out of here.” Maria says impressed by Danny’s throw.
“Not so fast dear, looks like that big pile of shit is getting up!” Danny says in shock.
“Damn this bastard is persistent. I gotta give him that at least.” She says impressed by Nemesis persistence.
Maria begins to shoot grenade rounds at Nemesis while Danny uses his assault rifle to defend himself. Despite the heavy fire Nemesis grabs both of them and throws them into the spoiled cheese and milk. Nemesis pulls out its rocket launcher and shoots a rocket. Both of them get up immediately seeing the creature with a rocket launcher ready to shoot. The freak of nature shoots its rocket launcher towards the cheese section and the blast is close enough to deal some damage to Maria.
Condition: Caution (Level 2)
Nemesis goes after Maria and picks her up ready to use its tentacle. With Maria unable to defend herself, Nemesis thinks it has her where it wants her. However…
“Put her down you bastard! Die you son of a bitch!” Danny shoots Nemesis mercilessly until it eventually goes down and lets Maria down.
He checks on her to make she’s fine. She hugs him to his satisfaction.
“Thank you Danny!” Maria says graciously.
“You’re welcome; after all we’re a team. Now let’s really get out of here before this freak gets back up.” Danny accepts the gratitude, but knows they have to keep moving.
She heads up the ladder and opens the roof hatch. Danny follows her and they both end up on the roof. He walks to the edge to check how they would get to the bank. Trying to call his partners on the radio, he gets nothing but static.
“Damn, no answer! Listen Maria, we gotta find a way to kill that monster! He’s only going to keep going after us and why is he after you? Not that it matters anyway, but what the hell is that thing?” He worries about Nemesis.
“Well, he is an upgraded model of a previous Hybrid experiment gone wrong and he’s after me because Hybrid claims I know too much about them. You see I went through the first two outbreaks and kind of got the idea that Hybrid did this on purpose. The first outbreak was accidental, but as the media got involved and the second outbreak started they sent in another creature. He was known as Mr. Z and he was probably ordered to kill everybody so that Hybrid could cover up their sins here in East New York. This new creature has been ordered to kill everyone a
s well. It looks like in Hybrid’s world we’re as good as dead.” Maria explains who Nemesis is.
“No, it can’t be. The same people who hired me to save you could not possibly have sent me here to die just for their cover up. Could it just be that I’m nothing but a pawn in all this, an expendable piece of meat that Hybrid can just throw at any time?” Danny begins to question his job description with Hybrid.
“I hate to say it, but Hybrid can care less about you or your crew. Believe me all they want is NYC gone so they can build their little empire!” Maria gives Danny the truth.
“Well we can’t think about that now, let’s get going to the bank.” He says ready to move on.
The two of them head towards the bank. The question remains, is Danny’s team still inside and alive? Also what other dirty secrets is Hybrid hiding?
Chapter 6
Maria and Danny jump onto the top of the crashed police van and they carefully climb down to the entrance of the bank. Once they get down, Maria uses the key to open the door to the bank. The door opens and the two of them enter the building. When they get inside they spot the two members of Danny’s squad.
“You must be part of Danny’s team, right?” Maria asks.
“Well, yes I am. Now how did a girl like you manage to survive and find my partner Danny?” The man asks in a Slavic accent.
“Hey! I’m not just an ordinary girl. I happen to be the girlfriend of a NYPD Special Forces officer.” Maria replies with an attitude.
“Hmm… you mean the same force that uncovered Hybrid’s laboratory in Upstate, New York? Now I see…” The man says and walks away. A wounded man can be heard in pain.
“Hey, is someone wounded back there?” Maria asks trying to get the attention of the man.
“Don’t mind him, that’s Nicolai our captain. He’s just stressed out. You see we’ve been stuck in the bank for the longest. We’re trying to get to the bell tower by the funeral parlor, a rescue copter is supposed to pick us up there. However, we can’t get to the other side. You should know there’s a huge gate protecting the area and we have no idea how to open it.” Danny replies.
“Hey are you ok?” Maria asks the wounded man while walking towards him.
“Ah… I was fighting… zombies and they got me… good. I have to get up… to complete… mission.” The wounded man says.
“No you stay here and we’ll get you back to health. Danny you stay here and watch your friend. I’ll go out and see if we can find a way to get to the bell tower.” Maria replies calmly.
“Are you sure you’ll be ok alone? It’s quite dangerous out there.” He asks her.
“I’ll be fine, just stay here. I’ll be back soon.” Maria says as she heads out the side entrance.
When she gets out of the side entrance she is greeted with a few zombies, but spotting a red container she shoots it to set the zombies on fire. She continues up Linwood Ave and bumps into a residential neighborhood. Spotting an open door on a house that is still intact, she heads towards the house. However, a couple of dogs attack her from behind. One of the dogs bits her on her left arm trying to rip off her arm, but she is able to shoot the dog. She is able to shoot the other dog as well.
Her left arm is hurting her badly and is starting to bleed. She holds on to her arm to cut the bleeding off and heads inside the house. She runs inside and finds a cloth that she can use to cover her wound. Now both of her arms are wounded and that might limit her ability to do anything strenuous. She finds a few things in the house…
Picked up Rusty Crank. It has a square hole on the other side.
Picked up a Green Herb and Red Herb. The Red Herb is useless by itself but it can be combined with a Green Herb.
Picked up a 9 Volt Battery. Used to power something small.
Pistol Ammo: 122
She takes the green herb and red herb crushing them together. She rubs them together and eats the mixture. The herbs have a healing effect on her…
Condition: Fine
“Ah… much better.” She says relieved.
She hears crackling inside the house and realizes that it’s ready to collapse. Running out of the house, she gets out in the nick of time before the house falls down. She continues up the block and sees a horde of zombies eating a lone body to Maria’s disgust. She ignores the zombies and continues to run. A hole appears in front of her and she doesn’t see it. She falls down the hole and after she falls inside, a car horn is heard and the car begins to back up very fast without stopping.
Maria wonders should she try to get out of the hole or stay inside and hope the car passes by…
What should Maria do?
1. Jump out of the hole
2. Stay in the hole
Maria has chosen choice 1.
She grabs the edge of the hole and tries to get out. However, her injured arms prevent her from climbing up. Using her lower body strength, she kicks her way up and rolls to her left. The car’s tires barely miss her and it crashes to a corner house. However, the car does kill the horde of zombies.
September 10, 2013
“I never thought that my hometown where I grew up, where I went to school, met my friends, and my love would end up like this. It makes me want to cry knowing that my town will never be the same ever again. While I should cry like a little girl, I need to remind myself that I’m not a little girl. Angel taught me to be brave. Second of all, I feel anger rather than sadness now that I know those bastards from Hybrid are the ones responsible for all this. I just feel bad for Danny and his team, they’re just poor soldiers hired to clean up the mess. However, people will look at them as the villains as they wear the logo of the evil corporation.
I like to feel sorry, but then again this is what happens when greed gets in the way of doing the right thing. I hate to say it, but the officials that covered up Hybrid are getting what’s coming to them and well deserved…”
Maria keeps moving forward until she sees a Gas Station. As she approaches the station she sees a couple of attendants on the floor. She tries to wake them up.
“Hey are you ok, I’m here to save you.” Maria says to the downed attendant.
The attendant wakes up and grabs her arm. However it begins to try and take a bite at her. The other attendant crawls towards her boot and tries to bite her leg. She backs away and pleads with them.
“Please settle down, don’t make me shoot you. Don’t… get any… closer.” She says as she tries not to kill them. However another attendant grabs her leg and nearly bites her leg before she’s able to shoot him.
“No!” She is forced to shoot the man trying to bite her leg and shoots the other two men after realizing they’re zombies as well.
At the entrance of the gas station, a square hole can be seen next to the closed shutter door. Grabbing the rusty crank, Maria uses it on the hole to open the shutter door. The crank gives way due to the rust and breaks apart. The square part remains in the hole.
“Damn it! It’s just something else that has to go wrong in this hell hole.” Maria becomes flustered as she kicks the shutter.
She tries to kick the shutter gate down, but then realizes that she has a wrench. So she uses the wrench to turn the broken part of the crank and the shutter begins to open. After a few more turns the shutter opens and she heads into the gas station. In the gas station she finds a few things.
Picked up 2 Jars of Gunpowder A and B.
Picked up +10 Shotgun Shells. Shotgun Ammo: 27
Maria finds a slot where a 9 Volt battery fits and the device opens a window guarding a metal plate with writing on it.
Picked up Bronze Metal Plate. It probably goes onto something.
After getting the small metal plate, Danny comes in the station.
“Danny! What are you doing here?” She asks.
“I couldn’t leave you out here to die, could I? After all, I got a funny feeling something is about to happen.” He replies.
Maria heads to the back of the station and into the garage whe
re she finds nothing of interest besides a bad smell of gasoline. Also there are sparks coming out of the car that is there. She heads back to Danny when the sound of a zombie horde can be heard.
“You hear that?” She asks.
“Yup, it’s the zombies getting restless. Crap they must have sniffed us out, they know we’re here! I’m going out to take care of them, no objections please.” He runs outside to deal with the zombies while Maria continues to look for any clues in the station.
She doesn’t find any new items. Meanwhile in the garage, the sparks get out of control to the point where they hit the spilled gasoline. The result is an explosion that sets the garage on fire that begins to spread to the rest of the station. She gets out of the station as quickly as she can and when she gets outside she finds Danny on the floor unresponsive.
“Danny… No! It can’t be!” She says thinking the worst.
He opens his eyes and says to her relief, “Relax… I’m not dead yet.”
“Are you ok?” She asks.
“Yeah I’m fine… that hero stuff is harder that it looks.” He replies humorously.
The two head out of the burning gas station and all of a sudden the flames become out of control. The two see the flames breaking out and they get dangerously close to the gas tanks.
“Maria, run!” Danny screams as loud as he can.
They run as fast as they can as the flames make contact with the gas tanks causing the station to explode completely. The blast throws the two onto the ground, but at least they are well away from the explosion. The two get up slowly watching the station where they used to fill up become a shell of its former self.
“Ouch my ears are ringing. We should both be dead by now. Listen, I’m heading back to the bank now so I can gather extra equipment. There might not be any at our destination.” Danny comes up with a plan with Maria nodding her head in agreement.
He runs towards the bank. As for Maria, she heads toward the park where the funeral parlor is located nearby. She takes a look at the bell tower that would ring everyday at high noon and at 3 in the afternoon everyday since her childhood. The one thing she never did was go inside the bell tower. There is a huge gate as Danny told her guarding the building. Next to the gate there are two statues and under each of them there are holes about the same size as the metal plate she got from the gas station.
