  Although she finds nothing else useful in the cabin, she does spot light coming from a disused fireplace. When she gets close to the fireplace, she can see a hole that shows another room on the other side.

  “Hmm… another room. Probably a secret room or something, but how to get there is another story entirely.” Maria wonders how to get to the room.

  Deciding to feel the covered fireplace, she discovers that the material is simply weak concrete blocks. Upon even further review, she notices that the craftsmanship is lousy at best and with a good strike with her foot she manages to take a part of the concrete out.

  Thinking about her observations, she decides to use the iron pipe that she just found to bash into the covered fireplace. Giving it a couple of good strikes, she breaks through the fireplace and sees into the other room. Crawling into the other room, she sees a secret briefing room. As soon as she gets up, she hears the radio go off.

  Answering the radio, she hears a transmission coming from HQ of Hybrid Corp.

  “Attention all Hybrid supervisors, the operation has been compromised. The HBCS are reporting massive losses. All supervisors please report to the heliport in Upper Highland.” The transmission cuts off.

  “What did he mean by operation failed? Did Hybrid screw their people in the name of science?” Maria begins to wonder if George was onto something.

  As she continues to explore the room she sees a single key on the table and more gunpowder.

  Picked up a Park Key. It’s marked East gate.

  Picked up a First Aid Spray

  Picked up 2 jars of Gunpowder B

  She also spots a reloading station that she can craft new ammo.

  Maria combines a jar of Gunpowder A with Gunpowder B

  She combines Gunpowder C with a jar of Gunpowder A to get Gunpowder AC.

  She loads the jar of Gunpowder AC into the reloading station and gets +6 Acid Rounds.

  She loads the Gunpowder B into the reloading station and gets +7 Shotgun Shells. Shotgun Ammo: 29

  According to the map, the keycard is located in the cabin just east of the east gate. She heads out of the room and crawls back to the sleeping quarters. To her surprise she finds Nicolai in the room.

  “I quite impressed that you managed to survive up until now.” Nicolai says in a cocky tone.

  “And you seem to be doing a good job looking out for yourself! How about helping out a little bit or better yet tell me what’s going on. Are you really going to help out or help yourself?” Maria expresses her suspicions.

  “Let me be honest with you. I have no intention of helping you.” Nicolai replies.

  “Yeah because we’re nothing but pawns in all this?” Maria begins to grill Nicolai.

  “In a matter of speaking, you are. Our employers wanted a detailed analysis of the zombie genes that were created by the Raven Hawk and Broken Arrow Virus’s.” He answers honestly.

  “So you’re saying that they deliberately sent in a military force to be butchered?” She asks.

  “Not exactly… Although the conditions were extreme, it was an unexpected outcome that our team would be wiped out. In fact, we were only ordered to collected live data from the subjects.” Nicolai exposes the true nature of the mission and Maria wonders if Danny knows the true nature or if he’s a pawn.

  The cabin begins to shake violently and the two nearly lose their footing.

  “Another experimental creature!” He screams as he runs out of the cabin like a dog.

  Maria decides to run out as well not wanting to get stuck inside. When she gets out she heads back to the flower garden. She suspects that the creature is not Nemesis.

  When she gets to the garden, the ground begins to shake violently…

  Chapter 15

  Maria feels the ground moving violently and has a tough time keeping her balance. Trying to get to the east gate, her path is blocked as the unknown creature pops out of the ground. The creature pops and comes down trying to swallow Maria up.

  Boss Battle: Super Earthworm

  Maria gets out of the way in time and the creature goes back underground. As the creature heads back underground, the ground begins to shake and Maria is unsure where the creature is. The creature is burrowing underground and she’s finally able to track it through the cracking floor under her. She gets away from the cracking floor and sees the creature pop out. She loads her remaining freeze rounds and shoots the creature as it pops up with the last three freeze rounds.

  The creature freezes and she uses her last remaining standard grenade rounds to deal good damage to the creature. After 30 seconds the creature thaws out and heads back underground. Once again she follows the path the worm is taking through the cracking floor and unloads with her shotgun when she sees the worm popping out.

  The heavy recoil of the shotgun is powerful enough to cause Maria to be unable to shoot rapidly. The worm also ends up popping up closer to her and it smacks her using its side. She falls into the dirt as the garden is being torn apart by the bio-creature.

  Shotgun Ammo: 26

  The creature buries itself under the ground even further down and Maria is now unable to follow the creature’s movements. All she can do is move around in random directions and hope to avoid the worm when it pops out. When she feels the worm ready to pop out, she prepares herself with her shotgun.

  The worm ends up popping out behind her and it smacks Maria again. This time she lands close to the fountain taking some decent damage. The worm jumps from where it is heading towards her direction ready to eat her alive. She rolls out of the way with the worm barely missing her, instead eating the concrete of the fountain.

  Condition: Caution (Level 1)

  The worm heads back underground and Maria is forced to play Russian roulette again. This time it pops back up quickly and in front of her. The Earthworm moves towards the unbroken parts of the floor and goes after Maria trying to catch her as she runs from it. She is hit from behind from the side of the creatures huge mouth as it heads back underground.

  “This worm is sure a tough one, nothing harder than trying to kill a worm that hides every minute.” Maria expressing her frustration.

  When the worm reappears it stops in front of her and she begins to unload using her shotgun. She believes that the creature has made a mistake, but she doesn’t anticipate the creature preparing a fire blast attack. She sees fire coming out of the creature’s mouth and it shoots fire towards her.

  While she tries to avoid the attack, the fire blast covers a wide area and she still gets burned. She runs to the fountain and tries to cool off with the water. However the effects also do weaken her where her speed lowers. Despite her weak physical nature, she keeps shooting the creature.

  Shotgun Ammo: 18

  Condition: Caution (Level 2 – Burned). You will lose health every 5 minutes.

  The worm heads back underground and she begins to feel the effects of a severe burn. When it pops up again, it tries to attack her with the heat breath. This time though, she is prepared as she runs to her left avoiding the fire attack completely. When she sees the worm go back underground, she loads the acid rounds into her grenade launcher.

  The worm pops out of the ground and jumps out back underground, she is unable to get a shot in. The worm burrows underground and she can only wonder where the worm will pop out from. After a minute of cracking floors the worm pops out ready to pounce on Maria. She is cornered on a gate and simply shoots as many acid rounds as she can.

  After shooting 4 acid rounds the worm falls to the floor. The worm begins to screech in pain and wobble in pain until it goes down. She shoots an extra acid round just for good measure and the earthworm dies. After the earthworm dies, it begins to open up and parasitic creatures begin to come out of the rotted body going after Maria. She runs towards the east gate, using the key frantically to avoid the virus carrying parasites.

  She rushes into the small cabin and closes the door. The parasites lose track of her and head into the bushes of t
he forest to look for other hosts. She breathes a sigh of relief and begins to explore the cabin.

  Picked up +6 Acid Rounds. Acid Rounds +7

  Picked up +7 Shotgun Shells. Shotgun Ammo: 25

  Picked up a jar of Gunpowder B

  She wipes off a large amount of spider webs off a desk and sees that it’s locked. Picking the lock she opens the desk.

  Picked up a Keycard. This keycard provides access to Upper Highland.

  Before she goes outside, the burns on her become even worse and her health drops again.

  Condition: Danger (Burned)

  She almost forgets that she has a first-aid spray that can cure her 2nd degree burns.

  Maria uses a First-Aid Spray.

  Condition: Fine – Burned Condition Cleared

  She cures herself and then heads back through the north gate. She spots the huge gate blocking the entrance to Upper Highland. After inserting the keycard into the keycard reader the gate opens. She heads through the entrance and sees the old reservoir up ahead.

  While the reservoir hasn’t been in use for over 30 years, it seems it’s actually running again, but why?

  “I remember taking long walks and this area was off-limits. Don’t tell me these evil bastards have made this their territory…” She says until she is cut off by a creature that pops out of the water. “What the hell, these guys again? I haven’t even gotten over my fear of frogs yet.”

  The frog like creature is called a frogger and it acts like a Lizarda. The only difference is that it’s in the form of a frog. Also this creature has a big mouth and is capable of eating a whole human body in only a few bites. Unlike the froggers from the first adventure, this one is able to stand on two feet and has the agility of a Lizarda.

  The frogger tries to attack Maria with its claws, but she backs up avoiding the attack. She shoots the creature with a single acid round unaware that acid rounds are super effective against living creatures that aren’t the undead. The acid burns the skin of the frogger and it goes down to the floor.

  As she continues she can see a gate that has a bridge that was man made by Hybrid and an empty looking building on the horizon. In the area where the reservoir is located, there is a guard who tries to kill off another frogger that pops out of the water. The frogger slashes the guard, grabs him, and swallows him in only two bites.

  Maria looks at the scene in pure shock as the only thing that comes out of the frog’s mouth is the gore of the eaten human. She prepares to kill of the frogger, but another frogger pops out of the water directly in front of her. The frogger in front of her slashes her with a surprise attack that she isn’t totally prepared for.

  The other frogger jumps on top of the attacking one and tries to slash Maria from mid-air. She tries to back up and manages to miss the brunt of the attack. She shoots the jumping frogger with an acid round and kills it. However, as for the second one the grenade launcher jams up on her again.

  Acid Rounds: 5

  With no time to unjam the gun, the frogger takes advantage by grabbing her and trying to eat her alive. The frogger applies pressure to Maria’s left arm nearly rendering it numb and useless. Luckily, her right arm is still free and she pulls out her survival knife. She uses the knife to stab the frogger and break out of its clutches. While the stab doesn’t kill the creature, she has an idea to kill it.

  Condition: Caution (Level 1)

  She gets on a bench and does a drop kick to kick the frogger back into the water. Then taking a suicide cord that has the conductors exposed, she throws the cord into the water. The end result is the water being a perfect conductor for the flow of electricity. The outlet next to the bench blows up and sparks begin to fly. The sparks do scare her a little, but she watches as the frogger becomes toast as it receives a continuous flow of electricity until the circuit breaker trips turning off the circuit. However, by then the frogger is already cooked and dead to Maria’s relief.

  Grabbing her grenade launcher she tries to unjam it. She finds it hard to unjam the launcher as her left arm is still numb and she has to let the blood circulate again to the arm. After waiting for her arm to regain its circulation, she begins to play with the launcher. Once again it’s the pin that gets stuck, not much she can do to fix the problem. She just has to hope that it doesn’t get stuck when she is in a deeper mess.

  “Ouch a broken nail! My nail is killing me, but Angel taught me to be a tough bitch. Besides I might look sexy, but I want to show that I’m more than just good looking.” She says after breaking a nail.

  Before she gets to the gate another frogger surprises her, but this time she is prepared and kills it with an acid round. She takes a second look around to make sure there are no more froggers hiding around. The coast is clear, so she heads to the gate and to no surprise it’s locked needing a keycard for access. To her right there is a control panel for water control.

  “Not sure why would they need a panel for water control? Let’s see what happens when I lower the water level.” She says in her mind.

  Pressing the button does indeed lower the water level and a secret path is revealed when the water is gone. She spots a ladder leading down and she heads down to explore the hidden passage. In the hidden passage there are a couple of zombies that she kills off easily with her pistol.

  Pistol Ammo: 121

  After killing the zombies, a frogger comes down from the ceiling to surprise her. It gets a surprise slash dealing a decent amount of damage.

  Condition: Caution (Level 2)

  Grabbing her survival knife, she throws it at the frogger. The knife hits the frogger directly on its heart. The frogger goes down in pain and she pops a pistol bullet in its heart again killing it.

  She spots another ladder that heads up and she goes up ending up in the reservoir maintenance room that hasn’t been used in years. However, by the looks of the controls and machines, Hybrid has put the room back to use. Most of the controls are for water control and purification of the water system for Cypress Hills or at least it used to be. She spots a memo by the controls.

  Attention: Memorandum to all Hybrid Corporation Staff working in the Cypress Hills Reservoir.

  Re: Purpose of the Reservoir

  “This is a memo indicating that we have been given control of the Cypress Hills Reservoir by the District Attorney of Brooklyn and by the District Attorney of East New York.

  Our plans are to reuse this facility to control the water flow to the residents of Cypress Hills and all of East New York. We have permission to restructure the water supply back to the way it used to be where residents had to rely on the reservoir. Why you may ask?

  The answer is simple, control! We would have control of the water supply; therefore we would have an additional source of income from those residents who wish to have their precious water still running. While the money is good, the real reason is that we now have control of a body of water. Along with the abandoned facility close to the reservoir, we can conduct further research on our aquatic lifeforms such as the frogger.

  As a result of us having control of this property, we are allowed to ‘take care’ of any ‘trespassers’. We believe George is probing into our affairs along with Angel and Maria. So if you see any of them or law enforcement, shoot to kill! No questions asked, a reward will be offered for the murder of any of these people. Of course we ask the bodies be properly disposed of as well. Legally law enforcement can still enter our property, but in our world they’re not welcomed.

  The master plan is to hopefully apply our new virus and ultimate bio-weapon into the water supply of Cypress Hills. Once we accomplish this, East New York will be under the boot of Hybrid. After this, Brooklyn will be next and then all of NYC will be at out mercy.

  Upper Highland is now off limits and all gates are to be secured with keycard panels. Only staff working in the area should have keycards, if anyone outside is caught with a keycard they will be punished to the full extent, as indicated by the Hybrid Corporation handbook. Those caught gi
ving access to outsiders or keycards to outsiders will also be punished.

  This is a huge step for our ultimate mission, a new world order. Let the foolish people believe they are being killed by zombies and monsters.

  (The name is illegible and unable to be read.)

  “Hmm… it seems somebody doesn’t want the secret to be spilled. It’s unbelievable that these goons would stoop so low into poisoning the water supply with their virus. These are sick individuals indeed that need to be stopped right away and Nicolai based on what I’ve seen is one of them. This note might have been written by him. In fact, I’m starting to believe that he’s actually a supervisor for Hybrid pretending to be a sergeant for the HBCS.” Maria unlocks even more devious secrets about Hybrid.

  She finds some ammo for her grenade launcher.

  Picked up +12 Standard Grenade Rounds.

  Picked up Mixed Herbs. This a mix of red and green herbs.

  Maria uses the Mixed Herbs.

  Condition: Fine

  She sees three red buttons. She presses them all, but nothing happens. Figuring there might be a special pattern, she presses the outer two buttons. Then a small brown door opens revealing something.

  Picked a Keycard. Now I can access the gate leading to the bridge.

  She heads out of the secret passage and back outside to the gate where she uses the keycard. The gate lowers and she begins to cross the bridge. As she crosses the bridge, she sees Nemesis behind her. There is another gate blocking the entrance to the abandoned facility. However there is little room for Maria to deal with Nemesis, she has to make a decision…

  What will Maria do?

  Fight Nemesis!

  Jump off the bridge!

  Maria has chosen to jump off the bridge.

  Deciding that it’s not worth losing her life over Nemesis, she decides to try her luck by jumping off the bridge hoping the fall isn’t too far.

  When she jumps off the bridge she lands on top of a landfill that breaks her fall. Nemesis sees Maria on the floor and assumes she’s dead. Nemesis decides to head back towards the reservoir.
