She stands before me, naked as the day she was born. I love how she’s bare above the place I love to be inside. “Lay down,” she says. So demanding. I lay down on the shirts, curious to what she has in mind. She walks around, kneelin’ beside me, and lowers her head until her mouth covers my already erect and hard cock. Her luscious mouth is wet and is makin’ me harder as she sucks. Her teeth scrape the delicate skin as she moves down then up. I grip the hay, but it’s not enough to hold on to. My hips buck as she cups my balls, rollin’ them. Fuck! Has she done this before? “God, Sadie!” Her eyes look up at me from under her long lashes, and she smiles then hums, the feeling traveling through me, makin’ me buck again. I feel my balls tighten, my cock achin’ to be inside her when it releases. I sit up, grab her arms, her mouth leaving with a “pop” as I lift her up and roll her over until I’m on top, pushin’ into her in one quick thrust.
“Ah!” She screams out, her head tilting back.
I gave her no time to adjust to my size, no time to be ready, but she’s dripping wet, so I have no problem sliding in and out. It amazes me that I do this to her, that she responds to me so fast. “Fuck, you’re so wet, baby.” I lean down and press my mouth to hers. She parts her lips quickly, and my tongue wastes no time going in. She tastes like heaven, wet and a bit of strawberry from something she ate earlier. She grabs my arms that are on each side of her, grippin’ them with intensity, our kisses becomin’ more urgent. Her nails dig into my skin as her body moves with mine, meetin’ me with every thrust. We have no problem findin’ our sync because we are one. I look at her, so beautiful. Her head moves back down. I follow her eyes, lookin’ at where we’re joined. I’ve never seen anything sexier than this in my life. Sensual. I watch my cock slide out until just the tip is still inside her then push back in, hard. Damn, that’s gonna make me cum quickly. I feel her walls clamp around me, tightening with every stroke, every push, until she finds her release and I follow her, at the same time, at the same moment.
We lay there breathless. I hold her close in my arms, her warm breath blowing against my chest. “That was….” She lets out a deep breath. “I can’t even describe what that was.” She looks up and smiles. “It was incredible.” I lean down, kissin’ those swollen lips, and smile as I reach over and place my hand over the side of her face. Since she got the stitches out of her cheek, she’s been putting vitamin E oil on it several times a day. You can hardly tell where they were anymore. I still wanna kill Jag for what he did to her and hope they find him soon, but I’m so thankful that it didn’t mar her porcelain skin. I move my thumb across it and she closes her eyes.
“Memphis? Sadie?” We both still, tryin’ to keep our heavy breathin’ from making a noise. “Now where in the hell are they?” Mac sounds frustrated, and I worry it’s something bad. I sit up, pushin’ her down so she won’t be seen.
“Up here just, uh…. Cleanin’ up. What’s wrong?” I yell down.
He looks up, and I notice the small smile on his face and the gleam in his eyes. “Nothin’ just a delivery at the house.” He lowers his head, shaking it, and I hear his chuckles. Well, shit. So much for hidin’ in the loft. I look down at Sadie. She’s coverin’ her face with her hands, but I can see her body shakin’ with her unheard laughter.
We get dressed quickly, then climb down the ladder and walk back to the house. No one’s inside when we walk through the kitchen and I see a big manila envelope layin’ on the breakfast bar. I watch Sadie open the fridge and get out two bottled waters, handin’ me one. I lean over and kiss her then look down at the envelope, tear open the top and pull out the contents. My entire body freezes when I flip through the 5x7 pictures in my hand. There are some of Sadie and Tina at the shop, some of us in the grocery store, and my heart beats faster when I see a picture of Tina and Sadie havin’ one of their flour fights right in this room. Fuck! I slide them back into the envelope and pull out my phone.
“What is it? Let me see?” Sadie’s behind me. I shield her with my body.
“No, darlin’. It’ll only upset you. Please, let me handle it.” She tries to get around me, becomin’ more frustrated as I shift with her movements.
“Memphis!” She stops, puttin’ her hands on her waist. “I’m a big girl and if it’s about me, I need to know. Please, don’t keep things from me. Isn’t it better if I’m aware of everything that’s going on?” Her face is sad but determined. I close my eyes briefly and take a deep breath. She’s right. She should know. Slowly, I turn and reach out my hand, holdin’ the envelope out before her. She hesitates and then takes it. I dial the number I need while I watch the expression on her face change instantly to fear as she looks through the pictures. She may be a woman, my woman, but I want to keep her safe, keep her happy and not have to live in fear.
“Henry. I need you to come out here. Now!” He tells me he’s on his way, and I end the call, settin’ my phone down on the counter.
I look at her, tears brimming but it’s like she’s refusin’ to let them fall. I couldn’t be more proud of her and yet, I want to take all the badness away, lock it up and throw away the key. She walks into my body, her face pressin’ against my chest. I put my arms around her, strokin’ her hair, kissin’ her head. “I’m not gonna let anything happen to you. I’d die for you.” Her hands grip my shirt on both sides at my waist, fisting it hard.
“I just want it to be over. Just when I’m happy and everything is going so well, something else spoils it.” Her voice is muffled. She looks up at me, sadness covering her beautiful face. “I’ve never wish anyone dead before, never hated anyone, but I wish he was dead.”
I push her head against me, my heart breakin’ for her. If anythin’ happened to her, I couldn’t go on. I know more than most that everyone dies, that God will take them in his time, and I’m good with that. But a senseless killin’, the fear that is being put on her, there’s no reason for that other than hatred. My fear? He’s doin’ this to get back at me. Yes, there’s no doubt he wants her, at least at the beginnin’, but now, I think he’s really after me. I think if he kills her, he knows it will destroy me. That’s what he’s after. I won’t let that happen. I’ll kill him first.
Henry comes by, takes the photos back with him to be fingerprinted. I don’t think he’ll find any but ours but I’m glad they aren’t in the house any longer. I don’t want her to get the urge to look at them again. Supper is quiet. I think everyone is on high alert again. We’d all just gotten into a new routine, one that made everyone happy. Colby had even gone home to tend to his chores and stayed there since we hadn’t had anythin’ happen in so long. He’s back now, takin’ his place in the spare room.
Everyone turned in early tonight. Sadie fell asleep quickly in my arms, exhausted from all that happened. We didn’t make love, too concerned, too worried. It takes me awhile to get sleepy, too fired up, but I finally close my eyes and dream about the woman in my arms.
“MEMPHIS! FIRE!”
My eyes snap open. Was I dreamin’?
Mac comes runnin’ into my bedroom, alarm coverin’ his face. “Memphis,” he starts, out of breath. “The shed’s on fire.” Shit!
“I’ll be right there. Did you call the fire department?”
“Yes, but they have their only equipment in town at another fire. Seems the clothing store was set on fire about a half an hour before.” Odd. “I called Henry too. He thinks they were set by the same person.” Jag.
“Okay, get back there. I’m on my way.” He nods and runs out. Sadie sits up beside me, her face paled. “You stay here.” I get up and grab my jeans, put them on and reach for a shirt.
“I’m going too. You need all the help you can get.” She walks over and grabs a pair of jeans and I follow her, grabbin’ her arms and spinnin’ her around.
“No, Sadie. It’s too dangerous. Besides, someone needs to be here for when Henry or the fire truck gets here. Please, please stay here where it’s safe.” Her chin quivers and she nods, and after I release her, she starts get
ting dressed.
I put my shirt on and my boots, and then run out of the room. I stop at the top of the stairs, turn around and run back, straight to her. I grab her, pullin’ her to me and cover her mouth with mine. My hands pull her closer, not being able to get her close enough. I move back, pressin’ my forehead against hers. “I love you, darlin’. Stay safe for me. I’ll be back.” Her head nods, our foreheads movin’ with together. I let her go and run out again, down the stairs and through the kitchen. When I get out on the deck, my eyes widen with how bad the fire is raging. It won’t take much to catch the barn on fire. I run down the steps and take off for the barn. Mac, Dallis, and Colby are using my only garden hose and buckets to try to put the fire out.
“I’m gonna get the animals out. Keep workin’ on the fire!” I yell as I open the barn door. Smoke bellows out, burnin’ my eyes. I look over at the small table inside the door and grab a handkerchief, wrappin’ it around my mouth and tyin’ it behind my head then walk to Clancy’s stall. He bucks his hind legs back, his eyes wide in fear, almost kickin’ me as I open the gate. “Go boy! Get!” I yell and hit his backside hard. He bucks again and I swerve, then he turns and runs out of the stall then the barn. One by one I open each stall gate. The horses whinny and buck, then run out. The cows are frantic as I reach their stalls. As I open the first gate, I hear a noise above me and right as Bessie runs out smoking embers fall into her stall from the roof. Oh, my God! The barn’s on fire!
Crackling noises get louder all above me. I hurry to the next stall and open the age. “Go! Scoot!” I yell. A beam falls, hittin’ my shoulder. I cry out in pain and grab my arm, holdin’ it against me. Fuck that hurts! My eyes sting with the smoke. I begin coughing, tryin’ to get air. I get to Frisky’s stall and open the gate. “Go, girl! Get out!” She runs out but then stops, turnin’ her head back at her baby. Spotty is against the far wall, not movin’. I walk in there and put my hand around his neck, tuggin’ him. He’s very vocal in his fear but finally runs out and follows Frisky out of the barn. I bend over, my hands on my knees, tryin’ to get some much needed air. I look up at the barn entrance when I hear a scream.
“NOOOOOOOOOOO!”
Sadie! I start to run but something hits me hard. I fall to the ground, the wind knocked outta me. I try to move but somethin’ heavy is weighin’ against my back. I lift my head. A large beam from the roof is laying on me.
“NOOOOOOO! MEMPHIS!”
I look out front but can’t see the entrance at this angle and the smoke is so thick. I struggle but it’s no use. It’s too heavy. I have to get to her! I have to find a way! “SADIE!” I try screamin’ but I’m not sure how loud it came out. Between the smoke and the weight of the beam, my breathin’ is labored, my eyes goin’ in and out of focus. I become lightheaded, my imagination giving me odd but beautiful images in my mind. I lay my head down, tryin’ to think of a way out but Sadie’s voice and face enter my mind instead. Her body layin’ out beneath me, her creamy skin, beautiful green eyes sparklin’, lookin’ right into mine. Pa’s tree. Clancy standin’ near it and Sadie leaning against the huge trunk, smilin’. “God….” I can hardly speak, no air to help me. “Please. Help…. Me….” My eyes start blinkin’ rapidly, tears from the smoke runnin’ down my face. I try to take a deep breath but can’t. “God. Help…. Sadie.” My eyes close and I dream of the beauty of the land, green eyes, and darkness.
Sadie
I pace the floor in the living room. My heart is beating so fast. I’m wringing my hands waiting for the sound of a truck, a siren, something. I can’t stand not knowing what’s going on out there. It’s making me crazy! Finally, I open the front door so help can get in and then run through the dining room, the kitchen, and open the back door. I stop short when I see the flames. They’re out of control. I thought he said the shed was on fire but the barn is too. Oh, my God! My hands cover my mouth as tears fill my eyes. The animals! Spotty! I run down the steps and then take off to help when someone grabs me from behind, covering my mouth with their large hand, and pulling one of my arms behind me. They start pulling me to the side, away from the barn. I kick, hit them with my other hand, but they’re too strong.
“Stop fighting me, bitch,” he whispers in my ear. Jag. NO! My eyes shift to the side as we stop and his face comes into view. “Good girl. Now, let’s get outta here while they’re fighting the fire.” I shake my head as he starts pulling me towards the side of the house away from everyone. Adrenaline rushes through me. I kick him in his shin, hard, and then bite down on the flesh of his hand. I taste blood. He releases my mouth and my arm and I take off running towards the guys, hearing his feet pounding on the ground behind me. Then suddenly, I’m on the ground.
“Oomph!” All my air leaves me as I land hard. He pulls both of my arms behind me, trying to get me up. “NOOOOOOOOOO!” I scream as loud as the little air I have allows me.
“Bitch! Get the fuck up!” He grabs my hair and I wince as he pulls me up, my arm twisted at an awkward angle behind me. Pain surges down my arm, and I cry out. His breath blows in my ear. “No one will have you. He has to pay for what he’s done to me. They all need to pay!” I take some deep breaths, welcoming the air in my lungs but fear resides in me. I’m not afraid of what will happen to me. I’m only scared of what he’ll do to Memphis.
“NOOOOOOOOOO! MEMPHIS!” I struggle, trying to get free, but he pulls my hair and my arm and I cry out again in pain. I hear a snap and know he’s just dislocated my shoulder. The pain is intense, almost making me black out. I blink quickly, trying to retain focus. He moves around until he’s in front of me. I spit on his face, traces of his blood running down in the wetness. He back hands me, and my head snaps to the side. “Bitch! You’re such a fucking whore! You wanted me! You wanted me to fuck you! They all do. I’ll enjoy fuckin’ your brains out before I put a hole in your head.” He sneers with an evil grin on his face.
Suddenly, his expression changes to surprise. His eyes widen. His mouth opens. He releases me, and I step back from the force as his body falls against me then to the ground. My entire body is shaking as I look at his lifeless eyes staring ahead, blood oozing from his back. I look up and see Colby standing there. I look down and see the gun in his hand, hanging down at his side. A loud crash makes me jump, and I look at the barn. My head snaps to Colby as he turns his head. We both take off running towards it. “Shit, Memphis is in there! We need to get him out!” My head snaps to Mac, and my heart lodges in my throat hearing him yell those horrible words. Memphis! Oh, my God, No! I run even faster, my shoulder and arm killing me, but I have to get there. I have to help! Where is the sheriff, the fire department? Why aren’t they here yet?
I reach close to the entrance of the barn and stop. The smoke is thick, burning my eyes, nose and I cover my mouth quickly. Mac and Dallis run over, standing beside me. “Help him. Please, someone help him.” Tears fall down my face from crying and the smoke.
“SADIE!”
My eyes widen. Memphis! I start to run, determined to get in there, when someone grabs me around the waist, holding me back. I start kicking, screaming, but they’re hold is too tight. “LET ME GO! I HAVE TO HELP HIM! PLEASE LET ME GO!” I keep struggling, pushing with my hand against their arm. I turn my head and see Colby’s face, his brows lowered and his head shaking.
“Sadie, no. You won’t help him. The fire is out of control. You’ll be killed.” His face is full of worry, sorrow.
“NO! WE NEED TO HELP HIM! I can’t….” I start sobbing, uncontrollably. “I can’t live without him, please. Please let me go.” My voice fades with hoarseness. My body racked with grief as I sob.
His grip relaxes, turning me around to face him. “Sadie. You stay here. I’ll go get him. Just promise me, you’ll stay put.” I nod, my head shaking along with the rest of me.
I watch him look at the barn then he takes off running. I start biting on my nail as I watch him run inside. I hear running behind me, then turn to see a fire truck backing down the side of the house
close to the shed, lights flashing all around and several men jumping out. I look over when Henry runs up to us. “We got here as fast as we could. Men, get this fire out now!” Henry yells. He looks at me, seeing how upset I am. “Where’s Memphis and Colby? Is everyone okay?” I don’t speak. I just look back at the barn.
“Memphis went in earlier to get the animals out. We heard a crash and he hasn’t come out. Colby went in after him,” Mac relays to him.
“Riley! Steve!” Two men coming running from the shed. They are suited up in firefighting attire. “Memphis and Colby are in the barn. Get one of the guys to bring a hose over here and aim it at the barn entrance then go in and see if you can get them outta there! Now!” I jump with his shouts then turn back to the barn.
I watch as they bring a huge hose over, trailing it behind them, then point it at the entrance, water spraying all over. The two men walk slowly inside, oxygen tanks hanging on their backs. My legs start to feel weak, my knees wanting to buckle, but I try to stand firm. Mac puts his arm around me, trying to be reassuring, or maybe it’s because he feels like I do. Memphis is our family. It seems like an eternity that we’ve been standing here. They’ve gotten the fire out on the shed and have brought the other hose over to the side of the barn, trying to help distinguish its roaring flames. “They’ve been in there too long. This can’t be good. I need…. I have to go…. I can’t….” I let a sob go as Mac tightens his hold around me. I can’t take my eyes off the barn. I’m so scared. I’ve finally found the man who takes my breath away, loves me unconditionally and cares for me, someone who I want to spend the rest of my life with. “God. Please bring him back to me. He showed me the beauty of your land, of you. Please don’t take him from me now. Please,” I whisper. I have no more tears. I only have faith in my heart, in my mind.
