“Time for breakfast, baby.” He dropped a quick kiss against her lips before getting up and tossing her robe toward her. “Boone is probably waiting to get some sleep … but if we ask really nice, he might just make us one of his famous omelets.”
“Mmm, get me an omelet and this might just be the best morning ever.” Her own tummy joined in when she thought about oozing cheese and crisp, salty bacon.
Before they left the room, Emmett tugged aside the neck of her robe to check on his bite mark and Dani shivered when he gently kissed the spot.
“My mark looks so fucking hot on you,” he whispered, his hands gripping her ass and pulling her to him so she could feel him hardening against her.
“Do I get to mark you too?” She arched one eyebrow at him before she leaned in closer to nibble on his earlobe.
“Fuck,” he hissed out when she lightly bit down. “I fucking hope so.”

Emmett’s dick was still rock-hard as he watched his mate moan over another man’s fluffy eggs. Dani liked to tease, he could tell, but in the end, he knew they’d both always get what they needed, so who was he to argue?
“So, after my nap, should I go grab some boxes and a U-Haul and get started on packing you up, Dani?” Boone was just finishing up the last of the dishes and his question clearly caught Dani off guard, as she stopped with her fork halfway to her mouth.
Emmett held his breath to see what she would say.
“Thanks, Boone, that would be great.” She shrugged. “I have some boxes in the garage. We can start while you rest.”
He must have had a goofy grin on his face because when she looked back at him, she rolled her eyes and threw a piece of sausage at him.
“Sheesh, I may be a bit slow on the uptake, but I get it now.” She laughed at him when he shrugged back and popped the sausage into his mouth. “Besides, have you guys noticed how loud and crowded it is around here? There are people, like … everywhere.”
Boone burst into laughter and Emmett couldn’t help but join in.
“That’s your bear, love,” he explained, taking her hand and turning it over to place a soft kiss in her palm. “Bears like their solitude, but other shifters like wolves are much more social. Still, with our enhanced senses, city life can get overwhelming. Most shifter groups you’ll find in isolated areas. It makes it much safer for us to let loose our other sides as well.
“Oh, that makes sense.”
“And on that note, I’m taking my social ass to get some sleep.” Boone surprised her by leaning down to place a chaste kiss on Dani’s lips. “Welcome, Alpha.”
She looked back to Emmett. “Umm, is that normal?”
“It wasn’t sexual.” He shrugged before standing and offering her his hand. “Most shifters crave touch and contact for comfort, especially from those pack members who are higher up in the hierarchy than they are. It shows their submission and reassures them at the same time.”
“I see, and what if it was sexual? Hypothetically, that is.”
He laughed and gave her a wink. “Well, your bear would have taken care of it pretty swiftly … then mine most likely would have taken issue with whatever bits were left over after you were done with him.”
Emmett pulled her into his arms and kissed her, loving the feel of her surrender under his touch.
“Now are you ready to get your old life packed up so we can go home?”
“I am … Sir.” The teasing light in her eyes didn’t stop his body from reacting to certain scenarios his brain conjured up at her calling him that, but at least Emmett knew that his life would never be boring with this woman in it.
Chapter Fifteen
Dani looked around at the faces that surrounded them and smiled as Patty and Martha wiped the happy tears from their eyes as Jeffery wrapped up their bonding ceremony. She had been back in Hillion Falls for two months now, and no place had ever felt so much like home to her. There were children playing and laughing all around them and for the first time in her life, she looked forward to holding her own little boy or girl, one that hopefully looked just like their daddy. All that was left now was to get to making that baby…
“Are you ready to go for a run, love?” Emmett drew her attention back as he squeezed her hands in his own.
“I am,” she answered, moving her hands up his bare arms and shoulders, loving the soothing heat of his skin under her fingertips. This would be her first run with the pack as officially their Alpha female, and after two months of shifting to her bear, nudity around her pack members wasn’t even a blip on her radar anymore. Dani enjoyed how Emmett’s muscles tensed as she trailed fingers down his chest and then stomach to loosen the pants he was wearing until they dropped to the ground, leaving him clad only in his gloriously bronzed skin.
He, in turn, slipped his hands up the V of her silk robe and gently pushed the material from her shoulders until it slid down her skin, sending shivers of awareness through her entire body. The rest of the crowd followed suit and began to shift and lope off into the forest around them.
Emmett wrapped his arms around her in a warm hug and kissed her.
“I can’t wait to get inside of you, my love,” he whispered before nipping the side of her neck. “And then I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.”
“You’ve got to catch me first.” She kissed him quickly and stepped back, shifting into her other form before she ran off into the trees, but not before she heard him answer back.
“Always.”
