Jax's Holiday: An Interracial Romance Page 14

“What the fuck?” Lacy exclaimed as they all gawked at the front door. Jax’s erection deflated immediately as he dropped his head in his hands.

“He tried to give me the slip but his car is parked outside,” Colette continued to yell. Holiday’s lust dried up to pure unadulterated hatred. The woman on the other side of the door was archenemy number one. Everything in her wanted to open the door and punch the woman in the face.

“And this is exactly why this,” she said indicating the two of them. “Can’t fucking happen. Get that crazy bitch off my property or she is leaving by ambulance.”

“I am so fucking sorry,” Jax stated barely above a whisper. He turned to see Lacy already gearing up for trouble by putting on her tennis shoes. Jax held his hands out and indicated he would handle this.

“You go with her,” Holiday yelled. “Both of you leave me the fuck alone.”

Holiday opened the front door with a wide arc because the screen door was locked. The hell fire in her eyes and body language was hard to miss even though her voice was nonthreatening.

“Get off my property or I will call the police,” Holiday stated with complete calm. The calm surprised Jax and Lacy, they both took steps back. It was the kind of calm that ended with violence and bloodshed. When Jax regained his nerve, he rushed over to the door.

“I knew you would come here. Are you trying to fuck this slut?” Colette’s voice was whiny. “Why do you keep hurting me Jax? What does she have that I don’t? Let’s go home baby.”

Jax sighed, “Go away Colette. For the last time, we are over. We are divorced and nothing will ever change that.”

He turned to face Holiday adding, “This is so fucked up right now. Baby, I am so sorry.”

“Baby? Did you just call this slut baby? I am going to make her pay if you don’t leave with me right now,” Colette demanded.

“Get out Jax. Please take this idiot with you,” Holiday ordered. “Do not darken my doorstep again or I will most definitely invite you in next time. You will leave by ambulance.”

“I am going to ruin your career. It’s the only thing you have going for yourself, you ugly thing. What he sees in you is a mystery to everyone,” Colette sneered. “He is just slumming that’s all. Now let’s go talk Jax.”

Jax turned to Holiday and winced as her stern expression refused to relax. He leaned forward and placed a kiss on her cheek. She didn’t budge or reciprocate. Jax exhaled sharply and kept his eyes on Holiday. He wanted a sign that she still cared for him in spite of the bitch on the porch. She didn’t give him one. The look of resignation and “I told you so” permeated Holiday’s facial features.

Jax breathed, “Remember what I said Holiday. Ignore this mistake right here. Keep my words circulating in that mind of yours. Don’t give up on me. Don’t give up on us.”

“I didn’t give up, we had nothing to begin with,” she said her voice pure ice. “It was all a fantasy and I don’t need the drama. Goodbye Jax.”

“You heard her, she is dumping you,” Colette laughed. “Let’s go Jax. I am sure I can make you feel better.”

“Shut up Colette,” he said turning back to Holiday. “Please don’t listen to her. This is exactly what she wants to happen. She wants you to give up before we even start. I need you. No, I want you.”

“I can’t do this. I will not live like this,” Holiday sighed and prepared to shut the door. Jax held out his arm to stop the door from closing. He squared his shoulders and stood taller, his deep blue eyes narrowed their focus on Holiday. The love and desire that flowed from those blue irises reignited the flame in Holiday’s core. Fuck! She hated that he had this effect on her, especially right now. Jax closed the distance between them wrapping her up in his arms. He dropped his mouth to her lips and murmured softly, “You are mine.”

Holiday couldn’t hear anything for a few long moments, just the rush of blood in her ears. Jax’s kisses proved to be more powerful than any of the others to date. When he lifted her in his arms as if she weighed no more than a feather, she let loose another low moan. Colette begged him to stop, dissolving into tears as two people ignored her. Lacy stood by with her hands covering her mouth, tears streaming down her face. He really did love her best friend and vice versa. Holiday couldn’t help but to wrap around him like a vine. When his paused his kisses, but continued to hold her, he admitted, “I love you with all of my heart and I will never stop.”

“No, you can’t love her,” Colette sobbed. “Stop it Jax.”

Holiday looked into deep blue eyes and grumbled, “I want to be mad at you. I want to walk away from all this bullshit but I can’t. I love you too!”

Jax enveloped her even more if possible upon hearing her say those words. The relief that washed over him was a most amazing sensation. He eventually released his hold on her body. Setting her down gently he placed a few more kisses to her lips.

“I still need time to sort this out,” she explained. Jax gave a nod of understanding.

“Whenever you are ready, I will be there,” he replied. His blue eyes danced with happiness and lust. It wasn’t the answer he wanted to hear but it would do for now. It gave him hope that they might have a future. When he turned, Holiday pressed her face to his back. He took both her hands and placed them over his heart.

Colette’s tearful expression turned to abject fear in a matter of seconds. This was all real. She wasn’t stuck in some awful nightmare. Jax had always been loyal to her and her alone. Now he was pledging his undying love to another. He was giving away her future and their future together for this lowly nurse. Images of them having a great life together flashed unwanted in her mind. Colette fought the bile rising in her throat as reality kicked her in the gut. Jax was done with her, once and for all. His heart no longer beat for her. Unable to make her feet move, she continued to stare at the love on the other side of the closed screen door. Her hands smacked the glass repeatedly to get them to separate.

Jax brought Holiday’s hands to his lips and kissed them. She released her hold and watched as he exited her home. Colette moved on numb legs but didn’t try to get in. Instead she sobbed and reached out to Jax for comfort. He shrugged her off and strode towards his car. Colette’s brain kicked in and she went after Jax.

“Please talk to me,” she begged. “I have nothing and no one. Don’t do this to me. I am begging you. I was there for you when your family abused you. Did you tell her about your psychotic family?”

“Good bye Colette,” Jax said smiling brightly. “She loves me and that’s all that matters to me.”

“She doesn’t love you. You don’t love her,” she screamed. “You love me, only me.”

Jax slid into the driver’s side and started his car. He took a deep breath as Colette tried to block his departure. He honked the horn and she jumped but stayed put. Jax backed out as the neighbor behind him moved his car to help. Colette wasn’t able to block fast enough to prevent Jax from leaving. She spat curses at the neighbor who parked his car and retreated into his house.

“Thanks Frank,” Holiday yelled to her neighbor before closing her door. Colette ran up to the front door begging for Holiday to open up and talk to her.

“Please open the door so we can talk about this. You don’t understand what you are getting yourself into with Jax. No one understands him like I do,” Colette yelled. Holiday called the security team for her townhouse complex. Within minutes they were on her porch.

“Ma’am what is the nature of your business,” one of the security guards asked Colette. Flashing a light on the statuesque blond, he thought she was stunning but could see the bitch spilling off her.

“None of your business rent-a-cop. This is personal,” Colette sneered.

“Ma’am, we are going to have to ask you to leave,” he replied. “Otherwise, we are obligated to use force.”

Colette banged on Holiday’s door and laughed, “Oh please!”

“Ma’am, we will not ask you again. Please, exit the premises. The ow
ner has not given you permission to be on her property,” he ordered.

“This owner is the bitch that stole my husband,” she stammered. “I need to talk to the coward.”

The security officer turned to signal his partner before talking into his shoulder mic.

“We have an unsolicited house guest who refuses to vacate the premises. Permission to use force requested,” the man asked. “Yes, we have asked more than once for her to vacate the premises. Please send Bertha, perpetrator is a female.”

“Ten-four, roger that,” the voice replied.

“Ma’am, we are going to give you one more chance to leave before Bertha gets here,” he laughed. Colette turned around and huffed before resuming her banging. The car pulled up as Lacy and Holiday watched from a window. A woman who was easily three hundred pounds exited a car. She immediately pulled out a Taser demonstrating the shocking ability. Lacy and Holiday jumped even though they were safely behind closed doors.

“Do it please,” Lacy begged underneath her breath.

“Lacy!” Holiday exclaimed then admitted she was thinking the same thing.

“What the fuck do you think you are going to do with that,” Colette sneered her voice losing some steam.

“I am going to convince you to leave the premises and not come back,” Bertha said before pulling out a cell phone. She immediately snapped a picture of Colette and placed the phone back in her pocket. When she started advancing Colette retreated from the porch, producing the water works once more.

“That woman you are protecting stole my husband. I deserve the right to confront the woman that took away my happiness. Why are you protecting that witch?” She cried.

“That witch, pays our checks,” he replied. “Now leave or meet with Bertha.”

Colette looked back at the front door, regretting that Holiday didn’t re-opened it. She wasn’t entirely sure what she was going to do if she had. Holiday and Lacy gave a loud sigh before opening the door to greet the security guards.

“I am sorry officer. That woman is absolutely deranged please notify me if she is on my property again,” Holiday added.

Colette yelled out, “I hate you and you will lose your nursing license. You will be homeless very soon.”

“It’s cool! I am sure Jax can take over her mortgage if that happens,” Lacy replied loudly. The look of murderous evil that crossed Colette’s face was laughable. Holiday nudged Lacy, “Don’t encourage that crazy bitch. I am tired of this drama.”

Holiday closed the door to her home and plopped on the couch. Lacy sat next to her, eyebrows jaunting up and down.

“So, you and Jax about to fuck against the wall. That was really hot,” she smirked.

Holiday sighed, “Don’t remind me that I am as easy as a two-dollar whore. Had you not been here, Colette would have heard us sexing it up.”

Lacy nodded her head before adding, “I don’t know how you could ever resist that man. He is fucking sexy and very well endowed. I like that he has no shame.”

“Lacy, you are not helping. What am I going to do about those two?”

“Forget one and fuck the other,” she laughed. “Easy peasy!”

Holiday nodded her head up and down with a soft grin.

“I really can’t stand you right now. I know it is as good as it looks. Damn! You lucky bitch,” Lacy giggled. “Stop pretending! You are going to fight the charges, win, get your man back, and take a week off work so he can fuck you into a coma.”

“That sounds good to me,” she laughed with her friend. They continued to talk long into the night after making a quick meal together. When Holiday was ready for bed and Lacy was in the guest room she retrieved her cell phone. There were ten missed calls and fifteen text messages all from Jax.

Jax, “Is she still there? I am so sorry my love. I will make this up to you.”

Jax, “Please don’t be mad at me, talk to me.”

Jax, “I need you baby. I promise, I will do whatever you need me to do.”

Jax, “Holiday are you okay? Are you and Lacy okay?”

Jax, “I will come back and there will be violence if she is still there.”

Holiday didn’t read the remaining texts but she replied to prevent Jax from storming her castle. She didn’t have the energy to reject him twice.

Holiday, “Security removed her less she meets with Bertha and her taser.”

Jax, “I never meant for any of this. I wish I could take back any pain I caused.”

Holiday, “This is too much drama and too embarrassing. My home is violated.”

Jax, “Please, Holiday don’t give up on me or us. We have something special.”

  Chapter 25

A week later Holiday was in the director’s office facing her accuser. The State expedited their investigation in accordance with the facility due to Holiday’s precarious positon with Optimal Hospice and patients’ needs. She hadn’t spoken much to Jax except via text messages. She had been livid to receive the suspended with pay notification upon returning to work last Monday. When Jax asked to speak on her behalf, she declined. Her truck had been vandalized with spray paint. Colette showed up at her townhouse looking for Jax again two days prior to the meeting. Colette was the quintessential lunatic ex-wife. Holiday supposed if she had a bunny it would soon boil in a pot on the stove. Holiday was determined to remain as true to herself as possible, however when questioned about sex with Jax, she planned to lie through her teeth.

Colette sat confidently with a low-cut blouse that practically revealed her nipples. The woman was openly flirting with Dr. Jordan Griffith, the director of the facility. Holiday rolled her eyes. It amazed her how many times this woman called her a slut and a whore. Now she was sitting here trying to eye fuck Dr. Griffith. While he behaved like most men around a beautiful woman, he at least tried to look away. It pissed Holiday off that she couldn’t have Jax without all of this nonsense. This woman was accusing her of unethical practices when she ran off with another man for three years. Holiday closed her eyes and prayed that she would get to continue her life’s work. It was bigger and more important than her having sex or a relationship with Jax Pierce.

Dr. Griffith reached into his desk drawer and produced a tall stack of letters. He made a show of opening one letter in particular before reading aloud.

“Ms. Pierce, I received this letter approximately three months ago. I would like to read it to you both, perhaps this will help clear up any issues. The letter was written by Ms. Emma Pierce,” he stated. Colette scoffed, “Oh please! She wasn’t in her right mind. Why do her words matter? It does not negate the fact that Holiday and Jax had a torrid affair while my aunt was dying. She violated company and state policies and I want her fired. She is a danger to patients and families, especially men.”

“My accuser seems to have conveniently forgotten that she ran out on her husband. She lived with another man for nearly three years, only to turn up on her aunt’s death bed hoping to score monies. This isn’t a matter of unethical policies. This is a personal vendetta against me because the same husband divorced her only a few weeks ago,” Holiday explained. “If my reputation is being called into question, let my accuser present herself truthfully as well. Since these accusations have been reported, she comes to my home harassing me and my neighbors. My car has been vandalized. This woman is hell bent on revenge not protecting our patients. She can’t exact revenge on Mr. Pierce, so she is taking her anger out on me.”

Holiday submitted the official police reports, security reports, and a copy of the Dear John letter she left for Jax several years ago. Dr. Griffith looked over the information with growing horror. Sensing a change in tide, Colette thrust out her chest and leaned in to peer at them. She gave Dr. Griffith an eyeful of her cleavage temporarily distracting him. Colette then produced a few quick tears. Her long false lashes bat wildly as she puckered red lips and wiggled in her chair causing her breasts to move rhythmically.

“My relationship with my husband has nothing t
o do with you using your title to take advantage of him. He was vulnerable and you corrupted him against me. He needed emotional support not sexual support. I don’t want another family to have to go through this Dr. Griffith. My husband and I are working on fixing our relationship even as we speak,” she cried.

Holiday fought to control the smile on her face. Last night Jax texted her to see if he could lose himself in her for the rest of his life. Sure! You two were working it out. They both obtained personal protection orders. Colette needed to be shut down.

Dr. Griffith hated his male response to her shapely body. He fought to push down those feelings and conduct the meeting professionally. After looking from the crying Colette to Holiday, he shrugged his shoulders and began to read.

“Dear Dr. Griffith and the Orion Optimal Care Board of Directors,

I would first like to say that my name is Emma Elizabeth Pierce and I am of sound mind but my body is a bit worse for wear at this point. Nearly five months ago, I was given a terminal diagnosis of lung cancer with metastases to other organ systems. The news was devastating for me in that I will have to leave my son, Jax Pierce, behind. The best thing to come from my diagnosis was the recommendation of this facility by my team of doctors. Yes, I said team of doctors. They unanimously agreed that I would receive, as your name suggests, optimal care residing in your facility. I must say after four months that I whole-heartedly agree with their assessment. Your facility has brought me a great sense of relief in that most of the pressure for my care is taken off my son. I would especially like to point out the excellent job of Optimal Hospice. This in-house hospice option has been an integral component of providing me with quality of life. I, specifically, would like to point out Miss Holiday Titus. I know that she has assembled a crack team of nurses, caregivers, and ancillary staff, for them, I am equally grateful. They have helped my son and family put my terminal diagnosis into perspective.

Miss Titus, or Holiday, as she prefers, has gone above and beyond to provide care to me and to other patients in the facility. I have benefited greatly from her expertise but more importantly I have benefited from her extreme compassion. It is this compassion that drives me to write this letter. As I have mentioned my son, Jax Pierce, is my absolute pride and joy. He means everything to me and while he is perfect to me, he isn’t perfect to the rest of the world. Jax has had difficulties in his young life that none of us should never have to face. My fear is such that upon my death he will give into his grief. However, I am comforted that he may come out of this a much better man.
