“We’re just glad you’re okay,” Apple Bloom said.
“Well, not totally okay,” Twist said, frowning. “The thought of thomething thweet maketh me thick now. The latht normal pieth of candy I ate wath that candy cane I got from Lilymoon.” She ran off to join the other ponies, and Scootaloo looked at the others.
“That’s the candy cane that came from Ambermoon’s room! And right after eating it, Twist got so sick she had to miss Zipporwhill’s party.”
“Only she didn’t,” Apple Bloom added. “She showed up as a Timberwolf!”
“You think the candy cane turned her into a werepony?” Sweetie Belle asked. “That’s crazy!”
“Well, we used a peppermint to cure her,” Apple Bloom pointed out. “Is it any weirder that a candy cane started this whole thing?”
“So I was almost right!” Scootaloo said triumphantly. “Ambermoon wasn’t the werepony, but she’s the one who turned Twist into a werepony!”
“Maybe,” Apple Bloom said, working through it in her head. “But nopony expected Twist to eat that candy. So it’s not like Ambermoon did it on purpose.”
“Still,” Sweetie Belle wondered, “why would Ambermoon have a candy cane that could turn a pony into a Timberwolf?” They all looked over at Lilymoon, who seemed to actually be enjoying herself with the rest of the class.
“She’s finally fitting in and now this happens?” Sweetie Belle sighed.
“Let’s keep it to ourselves for now,” Apple Bloom said.
“Because you don’t wanna tell her that her sister is evil?” asked Scootaloo.
“No,” Apple Bloom said. “I wanna wait until we know if she’s in on it or not.”
EPILOGUE
Although things hadn’t gone exactly as The Pony had planned, the experiment had still proven useful. It seemed that a Timberwolf was difficult to control, even if there was a pony inside. Using a werepony to get past the Timberwolf guardians wasn’t the way to reach the Livewood. If The Pony wanted the Artifact, another plan was needed.
But first, The Pony would have to deal with the Cutie Mark Crusaders. The Pony had gone back to study the scrolls. They were clear that the Artifact would be activated by “the matching marks three.” The Pony had thought there was only one group with such marks. But apparently, that wasn’t the case.
Fortunately, those meddling ponies had made a habit of coming up to the house on Horseshoe Hill. It wouldn’t be a problem to arrange for a little “accident” sometime soon to make sure they didn’t cause any more trouble.
