  “Dammit, Cait, we belong together.”

“Yes.” Never in her life had she known anything to be so true.

Adrenaline was still running in his veins and Sloan was on a roll. Intent upon getting his feelings out, he didn’t immediately hear her. “I understand all about your parents, but I’m not your father, or any of your stepfathers.

“I also know how you feel about people in the movie business, but I love you. And this time I’m not going to listen to any arguments. Because—”

He stopped abruptly and stared down at her. “Did you say what I think you just said?”

“Yes, Sloan, of course I’ll marry you.”

Relief, joy, love. They flowed through him. As Sloan touched his lips to Cait’s, another aftershock hit.

“Besides,” Cait managed as they were taken on yet another roller coaster ride, “I’m not about to turn down a proposal from a man who can literally make the earth move.”

With a breathless laugh, Cait wrapped her arms around Sloan and clung.
