I started writing this book over ten years ago. (At this point, Salara is one of my oldest friends.) While the story, my life, and our world have changed, the support I receive from my family and friends remains constant. Over the years, I have shared Rook and Shadow with friends in high school, college, and around the world. The people who have influenced it are too numerous to count, but I want to thank a few special people who had a large impact.
My parents have always supported me and surrounded me with stories. Abby and Allen listen to my crazy schemes and join in. My extended family supports all my projects, and their love means the world to me. Both my teachers and students have pushed me to be my best.
