Nylah jumped in front of him and grabbed his arm. “Are you fucking serious? Are you trying to get yourself killed? The Queen will kill you if you harm her Alpha.” Nylah said. Nyles snatched his arm away from her and took a step back.
“You have been hanging with that fucking witch for too long. You believe anything that muthafucker tells you. It’s time for you to come home. We don’t have time for this shit.” He said and turned towards the car.
“She is real. You can come see her for yourself.” She suggested.
“I don’t fucking think so. I don’t want your brother nowhere near my fucking Queen. Let him and the rest of the vamps go out there and get killed.” I said walking back to my car. I didn’t care what none of them said.
“Because she ain’t fucking real.” Nyles yelled.
“Oh, I am very much real.” I heard my Queen say. I turned back and saw her standing next to Nick staring at me. Errol and Sentury left the first guards to deal with the other vampires to guard Queen. I walked back over to her and grabbed her hand.
“You didn’t have to come out here and prove shit to him.” I told her.
“We don’t need any more enemies. We need allies.” She told me. Nyles turned around and his eyes landed on Queen.
“This is the Queen. Please.” He said and continued walking.
“What were you expecting, Nyles?” Queen said in her angelic tone. “This,” she said and stepped forward. Queen’s body started floated. Her hair grew longer and brighter, with her long claws. Her pretty brown eyes shifted to the white. That was Patience the Guardian.
“That shit isn’t enough. So, you are a Guardian. That shit don’t mean nothing.” Nyles said, still not believing.
“What Guardian do you know have claws, dumb ass?” Nick said.
“Tough crowd,” Queen chimed. She looked back at the sun and held her hand up. She dropped her hand slowly. The sun followed her movement and set, with the moon appearing. Nyles looked at his watch and his mouth dropped.
“Wait,” he said. “How did you do that, without chanting?”
She smiled and floated back to the ground. “I’m special,” she replied with her voice going deeper and her eyes shifting to red. Nyles gasped and stumbled back.
“Impossible,” he said.
“No, Nyles. I am real.” She told him. “If you don’t want your people to get burned anymore, I suggest you tell them to get back into your car before I let the sun back up. Nyles, I could see that you have a lot of questions. Maybe if you could meet us at the station, I will answer them all. Along with my brother and his mate, your sister, Nylah.” Queen said and snapped her fingers. The sun popped back up as if it never left. She turned to me and gave me a kiss. “I’ll see you at the station.” She said and disappeared.
Nyles’ stupid ass was still looking stunned. “Guide them to the station. Set them up in the meeting room and wait for us there.” I told Errol and teleported to the station.
Chapter 9
Maxi
I was ready to choke slam Niles’ punk ass. Nylah knew it as well. That was why her grip on my hand tightened. I was pissed off at her too. She didn’t tell her brother that she was my mate or that she wasn’t marrying Hector. It was cool, though. I was going to show them better than I could tell them. We were at Xavier’s station waiting for them to pull up.
The rest of our brothers, along with Tyree and Matteo, was waiting as well. I was standing in the corner, trying to collect myself. Nylah walked over to me and grabbed my hand.
“Thank you for staying calm.” She said. “I know my brother can be an ass sometimes, but you have to understand that he is all I have.”
“He is not all you have. Stop saying that stupid shit. You have me and the rest of the people in this room. Only because he is your brother I will try to remain calm, but if you don’t tell him that you are my mate and won’t be marrying Hector, you will regret it, Nylah.” I told her. I thought that she was about to argue with me but she didn’t. She nodded her head and pulled me to the seat next to her.
“I will tell him, Maxwell.” She said and brushed a kiss on my shoulder. Patience walked in with Xavier by her side. My sister looked like a Queen for real. Her whole demeanor spoke royalty. Adding Xavier as her mate made it more real. Xavier walked Lil Bit to the end of the table and pulled her chair out. He gave her a soft kiss, then whispered something in her ear. She gave him that beautiful smile and blushed.
Goals, nigga. That was how I wanted me and Nylah’s relationship. Don’t get me wrong, I made her smile and blushed here and there. I wanted that no doubt love. The love that I knew I didn’t have to question because of our differences. I knew that we were going to have some hard times ahead of us. I just needed to know if she was ready for that. Ready to stand up to her people for me.
The door opened and Errol escorted Nyles and two other vampires in the room with us. Nyles walked over to the table and took the seat that was across from us. Dom and Xavier sat on each side of Lil Bit. Our brothers continued standing around the room. The other two vampires stood behind Niles. Matteo and Tyree stood behind Lil Bit. We stared at Niles and his vampires, waiting for them to start talking.
Nyles cleared his throat and addressed my sister. “Queen,” he started. “I would like to apologize for my behavior.”
“No need. I understand that there is a lot to discuss.” Lil Bit replied. She leaned forward with her elbows on the table. “You tell us what you know, and we will do the same. Do not hold back information that we may need and I won’t asked Papi here to go through your mind and get what we need. Do you understand me, Nyles?” Lil Bit said, devoid of any emotions. Nyles looked over at Nylah. She nodded her head. Nyles looked back at my sister and started talking.
“We heard that Lord Odom has to get a couple of things before reviving Ma’vere. I was supposed to meet up with the other member from different Covenants. We were going to launch a full attack tonight before he began.” Niles said.
“Where is Lord Odom performing this resurrection?” Xavier asked. Nyles kept his eyes on my sister. His ass was bitter at how Xavier manhandled his ass. He was lucky that Xavier didn’t go black eyes on him or he wouldn’t be sitting here.
“I am here to answer the Queen’s questions. Not yours.” Nyles spoke.
“You will answer all the questions that any of us have, Nyles. Especially the questions of my King. You already apologized for your behavior. Let’s not make that a habit.” Lil Bit said with her wolf eyes showing.
Nyles nodded before answering. “He is back up North. He has some type of dungeon out there. We were going to attack before sunrise tomorrow.” Queen looked over to Dom and nodded her head.
“We went to see a couple of demons in Los Angeles. They didn’t hear nothing about Lord Odom or his plans. They did tell us that they were a group of Guardians that drained him of his energy the first time they found out of his plans. We thought that it would be a good idea to search for that group, but with all of the Guardian’s Facilities destroyed, we wouldn’t know where to start.” Dom told us.
“Is there a way that you can feel who is out there.” Tyree asked Lil Bit.
“I could try, with Mimi and Papi help. I just don’t want to attract the wrong energy.” Lil Bit said.
“You won’t, Angel.” Matteo whispered. He looked like he had a lot on his mind.
“What did you and Hope find out at Lena’s place?” Matteo asked.
“Ginell jumped into Lena’s head and saw that her daughter gave Lord Odom eyes of her Aunt and the feather of Bell’s wing. She traded it for some of his dark magic.” He said.
“Fuck! So now all he need is a demon’s tear.” Josh yelled.
“That wasn’t all. We also found out that the woman that traded everything off was Eve.” Xavier said, while his eyes were on his brother.
“You gotta be shitting me.” Xander said. Xavion stood there shocked like the rest of us. We didn’t know what that
crazy bitch was trying to plan. She was obsessing over Xavion. Loreen and Xavion were doing great together. If she put another spell on Xavion, using Lord Odom’s magic, it will probably kill him or make him go crazy enough to kill Loreen.
“Shit,” Lil Bit said. Xavier looked at her and saw that she had something to add to this.
“What is wrong, Queen?” He asked her.
“I think it will be best if we talk about it when it is not so crowded.” She whispered to him and looked at Nyles.
“As soon as this is over,” Xavier replied and turned his attention to the table. “We need to get to Lord Odom and stop him. Tyree and Xander will go back to New Orleans. Find that voodoo bitch and bring her back here. Xavion and Josh, you will stay with Ginell and Mom. Protect the women. The rest of us will meet you, Nyles, with your vampire buddies. Sis, call us when you guys make it to Lord Odom’s home.” Xavier said. He called Nylah, Sis to aggravate Nyles.
Nyles ignored Xavier, stood up, and looked over at Nylah. “You know that you will need to come with me to meet the other families.” He said to her.
I shook my head and was about to speak, but Nylah spoke first. “I will come with you Nyles only to show a united front. After all of this is over, I will be returning here, to my mate. Do you understand that?” She told him. I felt my teeth growing and was ready to mark her ass right here. That was the type of shit that I was talking about. She said that shit with her chest.
“We will discuss this more on our way.” Nyles ignored what she said.
“No, you will discuss this more. I already told you what it was.” Nylah said. She grabbed my face and placed her sinful lips on mine. “I will see you later on, yeah.” She told me.
“Yes, you will. Be careful.” I told her and placed my hand on her neck, where the rogue wolf bit her. She grabbed my hand and kissed. Nylah left with her brothers and the other vampires. When they were all gone, Xavier turned to Lil Bit and waited for her to start talking.
“In order for Lord Odom to get the Devil’s Magic, he needs a pure dark Guardian. He was going to use me, until he found out that I was bitten by you. The only pure Guardian left is Xoey.” She told him. Xavier’s eyes went from white to black in seconds. He jumped up and flipped the table over.
“He will not touch my fucking daughter!” He yelled. His claws were coming out and he looked feral. He started vanishing and appearing, punching holes in the wall and shit. Lil Bit stood and walked to a spot where he was going to appear. He was huffing and puffing, like the big bad wolf. She grabbed his face and pulled his head down to hers.
“Don’t worry, my Alpha. We will make sure that he won’t get her.” She said with her red eyes. Xavier stared at her and closed his eyes. She whispered some words to calm his crazy ass down. She just didn’t know that she was going to need to calm all of us down, because we were all seething with rage.
“Fuck that, Xavier. We can deal with Eve stupid ass later. You are going to need all of us for Lord Odom.” Xavion said. His wolf was near, like everybody else.
“No, Xavion.” Xavier mumbled.
“Yes, Brother.” Xander went and stood next to them.
“The most that Eve can do is make me not see Loreen as my mate. If we lose Princess, we all will go rogue in this muthafucker.” Xavion spoke.
“Papi, do you know where Lord Odom’s dungeon is.” Lil Bit asked.
“Yeah, I know where it is.” He said. He didn’t sound like his war-ready self.
“Aye, Matteo, are you alright, Man.” I asked him. Everyone’s eyes went to him.
“I am fine. Let’s get this shit on the roll.” He said and walked out of the office. That shit was fake as hell. No one bought that shit. He was going to have to tell us later, because we needed to get a game plan going. We all went back to the house and waited for Nylah’s call. Xavier and Lil Bit were spending time with Xoey.
I couldn’t believe that my favorite girl chose me to be her Godfather. I was ready to spoil her with the newest things and all of this love. That was what she made the people around her do. Love her. When I was holding her, she was telling me how good it was to put my voice with my face. She stared up at me, while I stared down at her. She looked like a little Patience with Xavier’s eyes. I didn’t want kids right away with Nylah. I wanted us to travel the world and visit spiritual places. That was something that I always discussed with my mom.
It was good seeing her too. She was another piece of my heart. I couldn’t wait to talk to her again. She always gave me good advice and told me the truth. My brothers did it as well, but Mom would lay it on you in a smooth way. My phone began to ring. I pulled it out and saw that it was Nylah.
“Yeah,” I answered.
“We are five miles away. You guys can be making your way there.” She said.
“Alright. On our way, Baby.” I told her and hung up. “Yo, we got the call.” I yelled. Xavier and Lil Bit kissed on Xoey, before passing her to Ginell.
“Ok, Princess.” Ginell said and looked at me. “She wants you.” I walked over and placed my finger in her hand.
“Be careful, Uncle Maxi. Everything is going to be alright.” She told me.
“Ok, Princess. Love you.” I replied and kissed her hand. The rest of the brothers did the same and kissed their mates. We gathered around Lil Bit and Matteo. I placed my hand on her shoulder.
“You ready.” I asked her.
“More than,” she said with a deeper voice and red eyes.
“Oh, what’s up Chaos? How you been?” I asked her. She smiled and closed her eyes. We all transported to Montana. We were standing near Fort Peck Lake. It was amazing out there. We were near the wilderness and could hear the wolves howling.
“Rogue,” Josh said.
“Yeah. You know that we are in their territory. Everyone keep your eyes open and stay ready.” Nick said. Matteo turned and led the way. After walking for twenty minutes, my phone began to ring again. I pulled it out and answered.
“Y’all made it.” I asked.
“Yeah. Where are you guys?” Nylah asked. Tyree touched my shoulder and we were right behind the vampires.
“I am behind you.” I told her. Nylah turned and walked towards me. The rest of the vampires had frowns on their faces. I didn’t give a fuck of what they thought. As long as Nylah was leaving with me after all this shit was over, I was good. Nylah was two feet away from me, when someone grabbed her arm.
“Nylah, I thought that it would be best if you would stick with me. I don’t want anything else to happen to you.” Some Rico Suave looking muthafucker told her. Nick and Xavier parted the way to let me pass. I knew that we were here for Lord Odom, but this nigga wasn’t going to be out here playing with me. I got to Nylah and snatched her out of his arms then placed her behind me.
“She will be fine, by my side. Her mate’s side.” I growled. His guards stepped up. I knew that my brothers had my back from the growls I heard behind me. Nylah stepped next to me and grabbed my hand.
“Hector, this was already discussed and this is not the right time for you to bring this up.” Nylah told him. He glared at me and turned around with his crew. We all walked forward to listen to their plan.
“He has rogue wolves surrounding the area. Once we get through them, there are more in the dungeon. Once we get rid of them, we will have a great chance of bringing him down.” One of the vampires said.
“No. That is not a good idea.” Matteo spoke in a dark voice. He walked forward in his all dark form. The vampires gasped. They pulled out their weapons and pointed them at Matteo.
“Lord Admerre. What the hell, Nyles? You didn’t say anything about us working with another Dark Guardian.” A vampire yelled.
“Yeah, you should be scared, Kovan. I still owe you for that little incident back in ’85.” Matteo responded. Kovan’s face turned beet red.
“That wasn’t my fault!” He yelled and was ready to attack him. Lil Bit stepped forward and held out her han
d.
“There will be no attacking my grandfather. We are here to kill an enemy of us all. Can we get back to that and leave the past behind us?” She asked, glaring at Matteo. “Seriously. ’85. You are holding grudges that long, Papi.” She asked him.
“It was a deal he fucked up on.” He shrugged his shoulders.
“Can you please tell us why their plan won’t work?” Xavier asked.
“Simple. The rogues are not the ones you need to worry about. Lord Odom has Dark Guardians in there as well with two demons. You won’t be able to get close to him if they are guarding him. Dominick, take some of your brothers with you to battle the rogues with Hector and his guards. Tyree, you take Maxwell and Nylah with you and a couple of the other vampires will go around and try to find another way in. The rest of us will start on the side entrance. If anyone sees Lord Odom, do not try to take him on by yourself.” Matteo said.
The vampires didn’t disagree, which was odd. They never liked following other people’s rules. One thing was bothering me about the whole situation, though. When Lil Bit stepped forward, none of them got star struck. They looked down on her like she was a regular Guardian. I pulled Nylah to the side and asked.
“Hey, did you tell the vampires who Lil Bit was?”
“No.” she answered. Lil Bit walked up to her and gave her a half of a hug.
“Good. I didn’t think you heard me.” She said to her.
“Yes, I heard you. But I wasn’t going to tell them anyway. We didn’t have time for you to try and convince them that you are the Queen. You shouldn’t have to do that.” Nylah told her. She looked back at me with a worried look. “When I told Hector that I wasn’t going to marry him, there was something in his eyes that I didn’t see before. I don’t think that your brothers should be with him alone with his guards.” She told me.
“I’ll let them know.” I told her. I walked over to my brothers. They were getting ready to shift and take out the rogues. “Be careful. Nylah don’t trust Hector.” I told them.
“Damn, vampire pussy must got you gone.” Josh said shaking his head. Dom looked at me with a frown.
