On Grandma's Porch Page 25

by Deborah Smith

One of my mother’s most memorable recipes. I’ve included it in every cookbook to which I’ve contributed. The pork chops will fall right off the bone (unless, of course, you use boneless)!

  Ingredients:

  6 or 8 pork chops, 1” thick

  1 cup water

  1 onion, chopped

  2 Tbsp. vinegar

  1 cup ketchup

  1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce

  4 Tbsp. brown sugar

  4 Tbsp. lemon juice

Sear chops on both sides. Combine remaining ingredients and heat; add chops. Cook slowly 1 to 1-1/2 hours. Place chops in baking pan. Heat in 375˚ oven for 15 minutes. Serve over rice.
